Out with my two youngsters today and we were walking home from town down some back paths when i come across a massive group of teens, one says to me have you got 50p, i said no, as they walked off all i could hear was yeah i bet you havent. Why the hell cant they ask the parents i dont even know them. Its so intimidating.

ah scanty, but between yestwerday and today op has come back to drip feed....she's not being bullied, merely not being taken seriously anymore...

nickschick · 18/02/2010 16:33

We live in quite a rough area and when we first moved here several lads asked me for 50p - i said to them carry my bags home and I will.

Dh was most surprised to see me walk up the hill with 3 'thuggish looking' lads and even more bemused that they wouldnt take my £1 lol .

Apparently its a ploy once you go into your purse or whatever if they think its worth it they mug you.

ImSoNotTelling · 18/02/2010 16:36

nickschick that is hilarious

rainbowinthesky · 18/02/2010 16:38

I am a teacher and on half term too. I have sooo much work to do including masters which is why I am here.

Amapoleon · 18/02/2010 16:42

This thread is a fine example of what Mumsnet isn't or shouldn't be about.

Don't get sucked back in to the thread OP.

probono · 18/02/2010 16:47

Scanty I like your commentary style, I think we should have that at the end of all threads. "Anyfucker came in there with a slice ..kicked into touch but good support from the defence.. all in all a fair game.." I like it. Jumpers for goalposts. However "going on a bit"??????? How very dare you.

lol at giving a baby 50p to hang around by the canal

ha ha

commented yesterday that yes, 'I would probably have been intimidated and wary like the OP). Just had a look and though Probono is going on a bit, it looks like the OP was belittled and now being bullied by a few posters). And no you don't have to agree with her but it's went nasty and way beyond that.

ffs bullied
so nowdays on mn, you can't disagree with someone, or saying changing the strory half way through is wrong, with out being called a bully.

janeite · 18/02/2010 16:53

Where is this bullying of which you speak?

rainbowinthesky · 18/02/2010 16:54

bullying? Are we turning into netsmums now? Is it just hugs and kisses allowed? No disagreements or discussions.

ImSoNotTelling · 18/02/2010 17:01

There is bullying on MN.

This aint it

OrmRenewed · 18/02/2010 17:03

No it's not called 'bullying' it's called 'not agreeing'. OP wanted everyone to agree that teenagers shouldn't do something. Everyone agreed (who wouldn't) but apparently, because we didn't all foam at the mouth and call for heads to roll, we thought it was OK. And there were (possibly inaccurate) assumptions made that it was yet another attempt to have a go at teenagers.

That isn't bullying. If we did all just say 'yes of course OP' it would be a short and boring thread and not worth posting at all.

OrmRenewed · 18/02/2010 17:06
scanty · 18/02/2010 17:07

that's how I perceived it, others may perceive it differently. And that was before the OP came back to add on bits and pieces. Knew I was opening myself up but, I'm a big girl and I never go with the crowd just to fit in.

ImSoNotTelling · 18/02/2010 17:19

i'm bored now. Anyone want to go down the canal?

I've got 50p and a couple of fererro rochers.

Tiredmumno1 · 18/02/2010 17:21

Look i never came on here i thought this place was for adults. So i came on for a bit of convo but get knocked straight down, and thanks to those of you who noticed that, i am not asking for people to take sides, just a bit of maturity. I may as well go back down that path and hang with the teens. And will tiffany please stop saying how do i know they were teens i aint blind, i could guess roughly how old they were. Its not hard,

Tiredmumno1 · 18/02/2010 17:22

GypsyMoth · 18/02/2010 17:26

DIsagreeing withsomeone on aibu is not bullying. Can people not cope with being disagreed with anymore?

Tiredmumno1 · 18/02/2010 17:29

And i didnt go on there heights i didnt have my tape measure

OP posts:
Tiredmumno1 · 18/02/2010 17:30

There is just no need to bloody nit pick at everything i say.

OP posts:
rainbowinthesky · 18/02/2010 17:31

I've just gone down the thread and skimmed read Ilovetiffanys posts and no where can I see justification for calling her a bloody bully.

Tiredmumno1 · 18/02/2010 17:32

Lets change the word to louts then is that better

OP posts:
rainbowinthesky · 18/02/2010 17:34

Okay, so why were they louts? Out of the massive group of teens one of them asked you if you had 50p and you heard a comment (possibly the same one who asked first) and now the massive group are all louts.

Tiredmumno1 · 18/02/2010 17:35

Well nit picking at someone on nearly every post in my eyes is bullying, and not once did i say i am anti teen, just anti bad behaviour, so how the hell i am i demonising teens it just happened to be a load of young louts this time
