Out with my two youngsters today and we were walking home from town down some back paths when i come across a massive group of teens, one says to me have you got 50p, i said no, as they walked off all i could hear was yeah i bet you havent. Why the hell cant they ask the parents i dont even know them. Its so intimidating.

oh tiredmum....its just a thread...dont let it get you down,we all have opinions, and they do tend to get aired here

some of us are mums to teens....one of us might be the mum of that boy (not me,i promise)its hard you know, hearing 'teens' and pre teens being critiscized.

probono · 18/02/2010 17:49

Chin up Tired.

Am off.

janeite · 18/02/2010 17:49

Probono - Rainbow suggested that going away from the thread would be good. She didn't actually tell the OP to 'go away' in the sense you are implying, or not as I read it anyway.

rainbowinthesky · 18/02/2010 17:49

Please dont say I said things I didnt. If someone is more upset than they've ever been in their life by the internet then it's actually very good advice to spend some time in real life and away from the internet. THat's not the same as telling someone to go away.

GypsyMoth · 18/02/2010 17:49

well we all feel down some days....glad you arent new in a way, easy for people to be scared off mumsnet

scanty · 18/02/2010 17:50

I guess when I see someone being got at by a few people who seem to be enjoying the baiting then it just annoys me, especially when I couls see the OP was getting upset and taking it personal. As I said, many of the comments were more than disagreeing but then the bullies back in school couldn't tell where to draw the line as well and would be shocked at being called bullies.

rainbowinthesky · 18/02/2010 17:50

probono - you've been very insulting to me on this thread - pitying the children I teach. Can you please justify those insults or perhaps admit you are wrong??

probono · 18/02/2010 17:51

And what do you think it reads like, when there's no sympathy or empathy attached? It reads like "go away you can't cope". Can't you see that? Anyway, Tiffany I think you did a good thing.

Really am off now.

Tiredmumno1 · 18/02/2010 17:51

Its not actually teens that piss me off, there was an old bloke in a shop yesterday being racist at a worker, i thought that was disgusting aswell so i wasnt just picking. Honest

rainbowinthesky · 18/02/2010 17:52

Probono - you've upset me now with your nasty comments. I feel bullied. You're putting words into my mouth and implying I said things I clearly didnt.

AnyFucker · 18/02/2010 17:52

if this is the worst thing that has ever happened to you tiredmum, then you must have lived a very charmed life so far

I too am sorry you are upset, but you see, you were right

MN ^is for grown-ups and if you can't tolerate this (rather mild)level of disagreement, then you are not acting in a very grown-up fashion

I am afraid to say my first impression of you was correct after all...

rainbowinthesky · 18/02/2010 17:55

No, it reads like it was meant to. I repeat if someone is more upset than they've every been in their life then they should spend some time away from teh computer. Pretty good advice although I appreciate I didnt add hugs.

Heated · 18/02/2010 17:56

Hi TiredMummo, completely understood what you were saying and generally I find teenagers lovely. Don't worry about AIBU, a seemingly innocuous thread goes off at a tangent, a phrase gets forensically examined and reinterpreted and normally ends up in a unMN-like hug or general silliness - that's AIBU. Chat is a bit safer!

AnyFucker · 18/02/2010 17:56

and FWIW, today I have been baiting probono, not the OP

and before others piled in to up the ante, everyone was making friends, or at least shrugging shoulders and moving on...

tethersend · 18/02/2010 18:03

Wow, this really escalated quickly...

And I missed it all. Bugger.

AnyFucker · 18/02/2010 18:08

no, TE, it was going ok

then some other people waded in, started talking about bullying, put ideas in OP's head, now she is the most upset she has ever been ...

oh dear

Tiredmumno1 · 18/02/2010 18:11

In Bradford with dh and ds a few weeks ago. DH was in a news agents buying a paper, ds and I were sitting on a bench a little way from the shop door.

DH didn't have enough money and so he came out of the shop and shouted really loudly across the street "Have you got 20p" a terrified looking teenage lad standing outside shop fumbled in his pocket and offered dh a 20p coin. Poor kid.

Naturally didn't take it and we were all able to laugh. Actually I did small wee because I laughed so much.

Tiredmumno1 · 18/02/2010 18:15

Oh and tethersend you didnt miss much, just some people didnt like the fact i said teens but its ok for them to think they actually know me after one thread

OP posts:
scanty · 18/02/2010 18:16
