Aibu thinking teens should not do this

Out with my two youngsters today and we were walking home from town down some back paths when i come across a massive group of teens, one says to me have you got 50p, i said no, as they walked off all i could hear was yeah i bet you havent. Why the hell cant they ask the parents i dont even know them. Its so intimidating.

OP posts:
probono · 18/02/2010 15:39

It just shows how many people think it's ok for people to behave like this, which is really bloody sad. Never mind didn't anyone tell them this is the wrong way to behave how come they don't know? There are men who cross the street so as not to intimidate women, there are teenagers who move aside and help how come they don't have that instinct?

Doesn't say anything about teens generally. Just those ones.

GypsyMoth · 18/02/2010 15:39

shockers....i got that too over on another thread, gone now also

probono...where did i say ANYONE should behave like that?? show me? go on.....

am saying that feeding new info into an established thread is a desperate attempt ..and poor form!

AnyFucker · 18/02/2010 15:41

for the nth time, pb, no-one said it was ok

are you thick or summat ?

GetOrfMoiLand · 18/02/2010 15:43

Right, yes those teens were wrong to ask for money. I don;t think there is any dispute of that.

Stelth reveal that OP was in South Central LA just adds a different spin to a thread which was scant in the first place.

I'm not revolting. A twat, perhaps, but not revolting.

Anyway this was a pointless discussions in the first place which is now a pointless argument.

probono · 18/02/2010 15:44

er you did tiffany

"she wants us ALL agreeing with her, when the truth is we dont"

anyfucker no but i'm beginning to wonder about you in a rather surprised way

go on pull my pigtails am quaking in my boots

GetOrfMoiLand · 18/02/2010 15:44

Actually, dispute that Laurie has the thread summed up, anyfcker had the best line when she said 'this is not exactly Gangs of New York, is it?'

GypsyMoth · 18/02/2010 15:45

no it doesnt probono...not 'just those ones'....it was ONE teen according to the op (tho she had no way of verifying it was even a teen..)

tho she might come back soon and say his friends also asked...by way this thread is being added to i wouldnt be surprised

i have never said to my children they shouldnt ask for money....like you say, should be instinct to know its wrong....but then again, what example do adults set...big issue, doorsep charity collectors, street collecters etc etc...

AnyFucker · 18/02/2010 15:48

pb, find your sense of humour, will ya

rainbowinthesky · 18/02/2010 15:53

I am amazed this thread is still going. As someone said earlier it was a bit of a non event. Nothing actually happened....

rainbowinthesky · 18/02/2010 15:55

We could make it into something by adding some extra spice by stealth. The op has already added that it is a known mugging area. WHat about the teenagers were all armed with knifes/snorting crack/loading their guns...

probono · 18/02/2010 15:56

well i did try earlier but you just went on and on and on and on

can we do it now then

STOP

GypsyMoth · 18/02/2010 15:57

well we dont all agree....do we pb,clearly!

2shoes · 18/02/2010 15:57

ILoveTIFFANY maybe all the teens showed her thier id cards...............

AnyFucker · 18/02/2010 16:03

do you know what, I think if it wasn't half term, this thread would have died a natural death by now

I for one, am bored out of my tree (supervising my teens...omg...who would do that ?...) and just looking for a "debate"

we got one, didn't we ?

will no-one join me on the child pornography one...I could do with some support...sgb is calling us "stupid"

< picks up a Ferrerro Rocher and offers a bite to pb >

< remembers I fecking hate Ferrerro Rocher...that is not chocolate >

AnyFucker · 18/02/2010 16:07

any spare pie ???

probono · 18/02/2010 16:11

i'm not on half term and have just had an argument with my teen about too much time on mn and not enough time making her a hot water bottle

gah

AnyFucker · 18/02/2010 16:14

if only I could get my angry teens to go out

they keep hanging around me, moaning there is no food in the house and they are starving

ohhhh < sigh >

sometimes it's easier to go to work

probono · 18/02/2010 16:19

at least yours like you

I've just had an impressive door slam

there's a lesson here buried in irony I feel

GypsyMoth · 18/02/2010 16:19

well mine has gone out,as i said earlier...made sure she had some money with her,to which the op attempted to rebuke me for 'laughing'...she's hanging out in the park in the rain in one of those pupose built teen hangout shelter things!

scanty · 18/02/2010 16:20

commented yesterday that yes, 'I would probably have been intimidated and wary like the OP). Just had a look and though Probono is going on a bit, it looks like the OP was belittled and now being bullied by a few posters). And no you don't have to agree with her but it's went nasty and way beyond that.

AnyFucker · 18/02/2010 16:23

oh noooo, they don't like me

unless you count treating someone like a domestic appliance as "liking"

like you love your washing machine or summat

janeite · 18/02/2010 16:28

Mine are 12 and 15 and have been doing homework and loitering around upstairs for most of today. I'm on half term (teacher) and have made a vow to do no work all week. It is sleeting and vile. I am so bored and it is making me hungry and other than the soup I'm cooking for dinner we have no food in the house. I NEED threads like this to sustain me today!

ImSoNotTelling · 18/02/2010 16:30

Right

AF give your kids 50p and tell them to go and hang around by the canal

PB how the hell do you make a water bottle? That is extreme top brag high quality parenting by anyone's standards. If your DD does not understand that then give her 50p and tell her to go and hang around by the canal.

The others sound like they're happy as they all aready have 50p.

I have a toddler and a baby and at the moment if I could get away with giving them 50p and sending them to hang around by a canal I would gladly do it.

(Not sure where this canal has come from, must be grant mitchell assocations)

Can I have a fererro rocher?

AnyFucker · 18/02/2010 16:33

I have taken a week off work I didn't really need/want because it is half term, so my kids are not home alone

DH is self-employed, so is down to me

the weather is shite, but they are too old to take to the park/for a walk etc and wouldn't be seen dead with me anyway

I can just about persuade dd to come shopping but then get nagged for inappropriate clothing (Paul's Boutique, anyone ?? wtf is that all about?..)

DS, unless I want to get thrashed at some awful PS2 game is incognito for hours at a time...

< ahem > I love my kids really...but they don't need me anymore (except as chief cook and bottle-washer) < sob >
