Out with my two youngsters today and we were walking home from town down some back paths when i come across a massive group of teens, one says to me have you got 50p, i said no, as they walked off all i could hear was yeah i bet you havent. Why the hell cant they ask the parents i dont even know them. Its so intimidating.

"OP is a bit in her ickle wickle toddler world and is frightened by teens I think. "

Why shoudn't she be?

I am amazed that so many people would be absolutely blase about being approached in a deserted area, by a member of a large group of people, and asked for money. It makes me feel quite depressed that people simply cannot understand why that would be intimidating. Things like this are the reason that lots of elderly people are too afraid to go out after dark - and in some areas afraid to go out at all - I guess that is their fault too?

A large group of posturing youths glaring at you is intimidating unless you are someone like Grant Mitchell.

Tiredmumno1 · 18/02/2010 14:33

Ilovetiffany - its not really a laughing matter, as 2 people have been attacked down that same path in the last week, one attack has been reported as teens not sure about other, but both were vicious, it just depends where you live i suppose

probono · 18/02/2010 14:47

Oh Isnt, I do so agree with you.

Plus, that "icklewickle" thing is revolting.

GypsyMoth · 18/02/2010 14:51

you never mentioned recent 'attacks' in your op???

laughing? who ?

GetOrfMoiLand · 18/02/2010 14:54

that I might be Grant Mitchell type.

To be fair, nowhere does it state in the OP that the area was a known mugging hotspot. This has only come out subsequently. In the OP it just seems that OP is unnecessarily bothered by a group of teenagers.

Yes, of course asking for money is wrong, I don't see the point of starting an OP about it as it is pretty self evident. It just sounds like a 'lets all slag off teens' thread of which there have been many.

Oh well I am just going to leave you all to it and go back to the cupcake thread with my 'ard man status.

OrmRenewed · 18/02/2010 14:58

"To be fair, nowhere does it state in the OP that the area was a known mugging hotspot."

That is true. I can't imagine what it's like to feel so scared near your own home I guess I'm lucky to be in a situation to be able to assume the best of people. 45 yrs old and not been proved wrong yet.

GetOrfMoiLand · 18/02/2010 15:02

Live in city centre (not a nice city either so has fair share of crime) and not intimidated by groups of teens.

Assume that I must gaily trip through life unaware of imminent danger, or am scaring them all off with Mitchell aura.

probono · 18/02/2010 15:02

Yes, well people didn't mention they disapproved in their replies but we're just supposed to guess that. All alone down back streets with a gang of teens is enough really imo.

OrmRenewed · 18/02/2010 15:11

Well if you use the word 'gang' it probably will seem that way. What if the 'gang' just happened to be skate-boarding or on their way to play football? A group of teens might have many reasons for being in a certain place. Not neccessarily related to wanting to mug or intimidate women with small kids.

AnyFucker · 18/02/2010 15:12

who is laughing ?

who said "icklewickle" ?

some of you lot make things up as you go along...

OP, you didn't mention "attacks by teenagers" in your Op, did you ?

probono · 18/02/2010 15:12

Group of teens hanging about down lonely back paths, asking for money and calling out etc.

That do?

OrmRenewed · 18/02/2010 15:14

Well yes that's more accurate. But I have to admit it wouldn't bother me much.

GetOrfMoiLand · 18/02/2010 15:16

anyfuckr I said icklewickle.

Apparently it is a 'revolting' comment.

I do agree with the assumptions - nowhere in OP does she state the words 'deserted', 'gangs', 'muggings', 'attacks' 'vulnerable'.

AnyFucker · 18/02/2010 15:18

ok, we are back to original premise

< what LaurieFairyCake said >

< with hard stare >

job done

2shoes · 18/02/2010 15:20

don't think it is on to come back to yyour thread a day later op and add somthing that makes the thread about something totally different.

probono · 18/02/2010 15:20

No, not really.

It is revolting getorf -- really horrible.

GypsyMoth · 18/02/2010 15:22

i think op is drip feeding us now to get opinions changed! she wants us ALL agreeing with her, when the truth is we dont

poor form op this drip feeding!!

AnyFucker · 18/02/2010 15:27

Op has sensed a bit of support and is wading back in with more info

it's silly really, because this is such a storm in a teacup

shockers · 18/02/2010 15:27

On previous pages there was a little 0 before our names.... now there's an 0 -. What's that all about then?

GetOrfMoiLand · 18/02/2010 15:28

probono - well that clarifies why you believe that - repetition

shockers · 18/02/2010 15:28

It's gone now

As you were girls.

2shoes · 18/02/2010 15:30

ILoveTIFFANY I aggree,
really the op was just another teen bash

probono · 18/02/2010 15:31

tis like people think it's really cool to be hard and anyone who isn't is a baby

Tiffany -- so you think teens should behave like this

why, why would anyone think that

this is stupid.. tis so obviously not how they should behave

but let's not repress em from begging in large groups down back paths from women and children

utterly ridiculous

getorf, no idea what your last comment means at all

janeite · 18/02/2010 15:34

You know what? This ickle wickle thread is going around in circles and I am an ickle bit annoyed at the OP suddenly launching in with more info about the area. It changes the perspective a wickle bit.

Having said that, they still didn't actually do anything to make such a song and dance about.
