To let my 2 year old DD wear make up every day?

My 2yo DD wears make-up. And instead of being horrified, I think it makes her look absolutely fab. She's my only child has always been a real girlie girl.

I split with her dad when she was 1, so it has always just been the two of us. It's a really great way to bond.

She loves it all and has had so much practice that she can do everything herself - apart from eyelash curlers and mascara lol. I love seeing her all dressed up - I spend a fortune on her outfits and make-up just really finishes off the look.

Anyway the reason I'm posting is we were at a playgroup and all of the other mums were whispering about us. I confronted them and one told me it was disgusting and that I was sexualising her - I mean really why would wearing make up make her more likely to be abused?

I reckon they are just jealous that my DD looks so pretty. I don't see what the problem is and think other people should mind their own business.

She sounds like a real sweetie. I hope you only use organic stuff though- not cheap crap. Afterall, you might have to borrow her lippy!

are you katie price by any chance?

kreecherlivesupstairs · 12/02/2010 10:13

That sounds lovely and I don't think YABU. My dd is a real tomboy, i'd love her to wear a dress and a bit of slap, but she is really reluctant. Do you have any advise?

GypsyMoth · 12/02/2010 10:13

oh another one!!!

SerenityNowakaBleh · 12/02/2010 10:13

I think they just sound jealous.

IWishIWasAFrog · 12/02/2010 10:13

Another

your name says a lot though...

leander · 12/02/2010 10:14

pathetic

BritneysChaps · 12/02/2010 10:15

Just try her with it Kreecher. I took my DD shopping and told her she could choose anything she wanted. She chose from the Rimmel counter so obviously she's trendy as well as gorgeous.

I feel so sorry for you.

Do you think fake lashes would be too ott she's been nagging me for them for ages. You can get some really cool 'Girls Aloud' ones too.

Rimmel is trendy? your DD has poor taste.....

Mine refuses anything but Chanel, maybe a bit of MAC

we go mad in duty free!

noddyholder · 12/02/2010 10:22

A little girl can never be too pretty By teaching her all this now you are putting her at a great advantage as she gets older she will be well ahead of her contemporaries Well done!

kreecherlivesupstairs · 12/02/2010 10:23

I can't get rimmel here, our cheapest brand would probably be Estee Lauder all though I worry the colours are a bit old for her.
The last time we went shopping, I tried to steer her toward the lovely dresses, living in Switzerland I have some romantic Heidi vision. She chose salopettes and a pair of UGGS.

BritneysChaps · 12/02/2010 10:26

I got my DD some proper UGGS for christmas - she was well pleased. She's growing out of them already which is a bloody pain.

But yeah I agree Estee Lauder is for old fogies lol

left it a bit late at 2 for make up tho...havent you!

Earthstar · 12/02/2010 10:27

It will be handy if you can get her to do your make up too when you are too "tired".

BritneysChaps · 12/02/2010 10:30

She started about 18 months old. I'm so glad you lot agree with me.

If you're dressed in designer gear you don't want to look like a scrubber do you?

is that bruce the trucker again? ... how do you cope with removing make-up ? surely it gets stuck in your beard ?

BritneysChaps · 12/02/2010 10:36

Not facials - her skin is too young for it. But we will can't wait!

We do go to the nail bar together - the lady there loves us.
