To let my 2 year old DD wear make up every day?

My 2yo DD wears make-up. And instead of being horrified, I think it makes her look absolutely fab. She's my only child has always been a real girlie girl.

I split with her dad when she was 1, so it has always just been the two of us. It's a really great way to bond.

She loves it all and has had so much practice that she can do everything herself - apart from eyelash curlers and mascara lol. I love seeing her all dressed up - I spend a fortune on her outfits and make-up just really finishes off the look.

Anyway the reason I'm posting is we were at a playgroup and all of the other mums were whispering about us. I confronted them and one told me it was disgusting and that I was sexualising her - I mean really why would wearing make up make her more likely to be abused?

I reckon they are just jealous that my DD looks so pretty. I don't see what the problem is and think other people should mind their own business.

while you're out at the nail bar is when your nanny is drinking all that expensive coffee you know!!

BritneysChaps · 12/02/2010 10:45

I gave mine liposuction at that age - chubbiness is just so not attractive!

(Have any schools broken up a day early?)

kreecherlivesupstairs · 12/02/2010 10:47

My dd doesn't have real Uggs, they are copies which I got from Aldi.
Will investigate the make up counter tomorrow. She does have a Claires make up set, but the mascara isn't a build up one, just colours her lashes liket he block of spit and brush used to.

TootaLaFruit · 12/02/2010 10:48

I don't think my dd would let me near her with my makeup brushes - she's only 16 months, bless her, but she'll learn.

Actually, she's having a nap upstairs right now... maybe I should go up and put some on her while she's asleep? BritneyChaps - should I bother with highlighting her cheekbones and bronzer or just stick with the basics like gloss, blusher etc?

And that those mothers said you were sexualising your daughter - they're probably just jealous that no-one thinks their kids are drop dead gorgeous

RoseWater · 12/02/2010 10:51

Ignore the other mums they're just jealous of your excellent parenting skills.

So do you reckon best age for a tattoo is before they start school then?

GypsyMoth · 12/02/2010 10:53

piercings....you need to get those done NOW!!

LaurieFairyCake · 12/02/2010 10:55

Does she also have a t-shirt with 'sex kitten' on?

or do you think that would be going too far.

differentnameforthis · 12/02/2010 10:56

Well I suppose not if she wants blocked pores by the time she is 6!

Wanderingsheep · 12/02/2010 10:56

Yanbu. Why wouldn't you let your DD wear make up everyday?

Rosewater, I would think so as they forget the pain quicker.

BritneysChaps · 12/02/2010 10:58

She had her ears done at 6 months. She wants a belly button piercing like mine but she'll have to wait for that one lol.

I'm really glad some of you let your DD's - those mums made me feel like a freak. Deffo jealousy.

I always generally manage to get a tiny bit of blusher on her, she looks so peaky in the winter and you never know when her photo will appear on the school website. I don't want her to be known as kreechers daughter with the pale face.
Her school have a ridiculous IMO rule, that children under the age of 14 cab't wear makeup and must wear clothes suitable to the weather.
Her salipettes are so unflattering that I am encouraging her to jazz them up a bit, we are only using claires accesories for the chains, but already they look better. Sadly they are losing their waterproofing and the snow is seeping through. I tell her she has to suffer for attractiveness.

GuntherMcKilocodie · 12/02/2010 11:45

Good for you. Have just chucked all of DD1's sensible knickers out and bought mini thongs. It just means that her bum cheeks look so much cuter when we go to our pole dancing lessons.

Rollmops · 12/02/2010 11:48

You have, naturally, signed the poor thing up for x-factor or similar nonsense?
Always been a girly-girl - for xst sake, she is two years old. Let her be a child, don't turn her into a child-woman...

Rollmops · 12/02/2010 11:52

Alright, walked right into this...
Try tanning bed, instant bronze glow with enchanting aroma of a chip shop.

TiggyR · 12/02/2010 11:54

Rollmops - I think you've been reeled in....

Mmmcoffee · 12/02/2010 11:55

Have you seen the Jimmy Choo's for girls? They scale the heels down to 3" for under-5's.

BritneysChaps · 12/02/2010 11:59

I know Suri Cruise has custom made Loubitons - so jealous!

Oh for pity's sake. This is so obviously some hack getting information for a story after those pictures of Jordan's kids.

twotimes · 12/02/2010 12:04

WTF!!!!!!!!!! I just clicked into the twilight zone. get me out get me out

Mmmcoffee · 12/02/2010 12:10

Well I think the authorities ought to keep their noses out:
couple charged for tattooing children

I did mine at age 3 with a sewing needle. Her little "I love mummy" is SO cute!

giraffesCantCeilidhDance · 12/02/2010 12:12

I think you are a disgusting excuse for a mother - what an idiot!! Do you not want the best for your daughter? I seriously think you should consider shagging some footballers that will give you more money then you can afford some expensive make up for her, rimmel ffs she will look like a tramp, et some decent stuff. Or better still get it tattooed on, much better.

StealthPolarBear · 12/02/2010 12:13

lol Gunther
I am wondering whether straightners will be too powerful for my 5mo DD's hair? She has this tuft just above her bald patch and i can't do a thing with it

Pikelit · 12/02/2010 12:16

Trip, fucking, trap!
Went the hooves on the bridge...

PorphyrophillicPixie · 12/02/2010 12:16

Lol, were you in PMU last week by any chance? Sound just like that poor harrassed mother
