To let my 2 year old DD wear make up every day?

BritneysChaps · 12/02/2010 10:07

My 2yo DD wears make-up. And instead of being horrified, I think it makes her look absolutely fab. She's my only child has always been a real girlie girl.

I split with her dad when she was 1, so it has always just been the two of us. It's a really great way to bond.

She loves it all and has had so much practice that she can do everything herself - apart from eyelash curlers and mascara lol. I love seeing her all dressed up - I spend a fortune on her outfits and make-up just really finishes off the look.

Anyway the reason I'm posting is we were at a playgroup and all of the other mums were whispering about us. I confronted them and one told me it was disgusting and that I was sexualising her - I mean really why would wearing make up make her more likely to be abused?

I reckon they are just jealous that my DD looks so pretty. I don't see what the problem is and think other people should mind their own business.

The Daily Mail seem to be obsessed with her - there's at least three articles a week.

Yes I read the mail daily - but I read all the main papers daily so can be excused.

SixtyFootDoll · 12/02/2010 14:26

I alwys read the DM online for my sleb top-up
They do have a real issue with the Cruises, and I must admith to a morbid facination myself

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 12/02/2010 16:19

I love their celeb pages - it's better than heat.

I also love reading the comments. And the ridiculous headlines.

Just the other day 'White Cliffs of Dover to be Sold to France'

giraffesCantCeilidhDance · 12/02/2010 16:33

I knew from earlier as read the tips thread but thought it was funny so kept quiet

pigletmania · 12/02/2010 16:40

, you put that muck on your toddler! Fine if they are playing at home with make up, but to make a 2 year old look like a slapper with mascara and fake eyelashes Their poor young delicate skins fgs. My dd 2.11 years, would never let me near her with make up, good on her, she can wear it when she is older.

The PMU article disturbed me when I read it last week, I made a thread about it but I was dismissed for actually reading PMU!

& Scientology is crazy shit. I had a very lucky escape from it and am very very grateful I done my research before I was whizzed off to have my first tests at their London centre.

pigletmania · 12/02/2010 18:09

BitOfFun · 12/02/2010 18:13

You need to read the whole thread before you respond, generally, or you end up looking like a twit. Besides which, you miss lots of funny stuff and the genius that is pagwatch and her links!

KimiLivesInStarbucks · 12/02/2010 19:49

I hope you have take a break on board for the stories yet to come, you know the sun beds, the skin cancer, the teen pregnancy, the dating of 3rd rate footballers (I was roasted by 3 players from west Yoevil town FC) and ex big brother looneys contestants.

You have so much to look forward to, the visits to the STD clinics, the boob jobs that go wrong, the nose job, the advert for chavland Iceland.

I am so sad I have boys, why oh why do I not have a daughter to dress up in sexy clothes and make up with cheap market brought bling so I can push her along the street in a big knock off silver cross pram and see all the other mothers wish they were me.

TiggyR · 13/02/2010 07:47

From the PMU article:

'as the weeks went by she got better at putting on make up......'look, mummy, I look just like you now'....'so you do, Darling!'

Well pardon me for pointing this out but her lipstick is round her ears and up her nose. I'm a tad worried about what you look like in make-up, never mind her.

mumeeee · 13/02/2010 17:09

YABU. Make up is very bad for a small childs skin and you are making her grow up much too fast.

mumeeee · 13/02/2010 17:13

Sorry just seen this was a wind up. But that's awful for the little girl.

CheerfulYank · 13/02/2010 17:31

I've only got a boy (pout), but I've got a sz 3 month Vegas showgirl outfit just waiting for little Duchess Chardonnay to make her appearance someday! It's so adorable, it's pink sequined and really skimpy, and of course it's padded b/c she won't have a lot in that area just yet...implants for her first birthday, d'you think?

GHorton · 22/02/2010 11:43

Hi BritneysChaps

I know exactly what you mean about children wearing makeup. My two year old neice loves playing around with my sister's makeup and when she puts it on she looks really beautiful. I am writing an article for Closer magazine about this very issue and am speaking to a few mums who let their daughters wear makeup about the reasons why. Hopefully this will give the mums a platform to speak out rather than be scolded all the time. Would you be interested in featuring in the piece. I would ensure you were paid for your time and co-operation. If you could let me know either via my office number 0800 0323723 or mobile 07852 181898 or email me and I can elaborate in more detail. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yes, this thread is a wind-up.

See this:

Had any troll super sleuths been around they might have spotted this and outed me earlier."

But is GHorton's post on 22 Feb at 11.43.54 a wind-up too?

thecloudhopper · 22/02/2010 22:40

thanks for clearing it up for me ...what did she say?
