You don't get many lifelong Conservative voters talking about dancing on Michael Foot(e?)'s grave in the style of a rabid working class person talking about Mrs Thatcher do you?

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 03/02/2010 19:29

YABU for making no sense at all

wastwinsetandpearls · 03/02/2010 19:30

What on earth is a rabid working class person?

Keepo · 03/02/2010 19:33

I think you mean repressed rather than polite.

SeaTheStars · 03/02/2010 19:33

like Arthur Scargill for example

spongebrainbigpants · 03/02/2010 19:35

Yer, Tories are lovely - polite, kind and good to their grannies .

YABU.

nickytwotimes · 03/02/2010 19:36

Um, Michael Foot was never prime minister, was he? SO the comparison doesn't work. Fwiw, I think it is horrible to say you will dance on anyone's grave, but I have never heard anyone say this.

And I also think you mean repressed.

PureAsTheColdDrivenSnow · 03/02/2010 19:36

Oh dear..

KurriKurri · 03/02/2010 19:37

I don't think Michael Foot was in quite the same league as Mrs Thatcher in terms of fuck-up-the-countryness.

nellie12 · 03/02/2010 19:37

ah well you see lifelong conservative voters haven't had to rail against the establishment for years as they agree with the way the country is run.

TheFallenMadonna · 03/02/2010 19:37

Now the other day Xenia was using 'poor' as shorthand for 'state school educated', and here you are labelling the working class as Labour voters. Or is it only the rabid ones who are Labour voters?

dizietsma · 03/02/2010 19:37

LOL

YABU, you silly Tory wanker.

nickytwotimes · 03/02/2010 19:37

Yeah, that's right, Tories are well known for their compassion towards others of course...

SeaTheStars · 03/02/2010 19:38

was just a passing thought, but you don't seem to get the same level of venomous hatred spewed from Conservatives towards other parties as the traditional Labour voter seems to about the Tories

might be right, about repression

OP posts:
scottishmummy · 03/02/2010 19:38

is that your best attempt at rabble rousing?faux class war and oh dem lefties are potty mouthed oiks

try harder

SeaTheStars · 03/02/2010 19:39

was Michael Foot really not PM? am sure I remember this

OP posts:
choosyfloosy · 03/02/2010 19:40

Try after the election. We Labour voters were very polite indeed in 1997 because we were all holding our breath. No doubt Tories are the same right now.

onebatmother · 03/02/2010 19:40

ARE leftwingers necessarily working-class?
Just askin'.

spongebrainbigpants · 03/02/2010 19:42

"was Michael Foot really not PM? am sure I remember this"

Really?!

I think you've shot yourself in the foot (no pun intended!) in wanting to comment on political matters if you can't even remember this!

spongebrainbigpants · 03/02/2010 19:43

And you don't get the same venomous hatred towards Labour as you do towards the Tories cos Labour aren't so bloody vile.

Simple really .

KurriKurri · 03/02/2010 19:44

No he wasn't PM, - just party leader.

SeaTheStars · 03/02/2010 19:45

haha, no, he was leader of the opposition wasn't he

I was only little then, but ok v poor comparison

OP posts:
PureAsTheColdDrivenSnow · 03/02/2010 19:46

"was Michael Foot really not PM? am sure I remember this"

sorry, but this deserves a roffle.

usualsuspect · 03/02/2010 19:48

OP sounds familiar

nickytwotimes · 03/02/2010 19:49

I was little too, but I still know that!

Pmsl!

SeaTheStars · 03/02/2010 19:50

ok ok I was about NINE then

anyway is not about the parties as not a lot to choose between them is there, but rather about the people who align themselves with them - you just don't get this hatred the other way around do you?
