Message after message full of typos where you have to stop and try to decipher it.

Plus all this 'tis, twas'. Oh It annoys me.

OP posts:
GypsyMoth · 01/02/2010 13:33

i sometimes type on my iphone, thats when my typos creep in

but on the whole,i'd say no. dont think someone should be vilified for it

stinkypinky · 01/02/2010 13:35

Just as much as those who cannot spell!

Indecipherably

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 01/02/2010 13:36

I don't mean the odd typo - just the once who consistently type in an almost incoherent way.

Maybe they are druk

OP posts:
TheDevilWearsPrimark · 01/02/2010 13:36

or spell 'drunk'

(haha etc)

OP posts:
itsmeolord · 01/02/2010 13:38

or perhaps they have dyslexia?

Text speak is deliberate, mis-spelt words tend to be accidental, as you have just proven.

YABU.

tialys · 01/02/2010 13:39

My dh can't spell to save his life.
He is dyslexic though - hope you don't vilify him for it though

pagwatch · 01/02/2010 13:39

I don't villify people who use text speak although I confess I mostly ignore them.

I don't villify people who make typos as I do often, I may be in a hurry or I may just spell poorly but I don't think they are often hard to read. I don't tend to pick up on posting style as it is a bit snotty IMHO.
I also use tis sometimes. So bite me.

There are worse offences.
I can forgive most things in most threads except picking on minorities, when I think about it. And crap babies names.

MadameOvary · 01/02/2010 13:39

I caught the 'tis and 'twas bug from Mumsnet. I like it. As for laziness - YABU. Many of the typos are because of toddlers on laps or because we are in a rush.

hobbgoblin · 01/02/2010 13:39

I type like that frequently whilst multitasking.

pagwatch · 01/02/2010 13:40

btw TDWP - how are you ?
I thought( from the little I could see)that you and I were having equally shitty weeks last week... hope a better one this week.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 01/02/2010 13:41

Indeed Pag - I'm heading over to SN in a mo.

Hope you are having a better week?

OP posts:
CatIsSleepy · 01/02/2010 13:42

well it might be mildly annoying sometimes if a post is really hard to understand but I wouldn't vilify anyone for it

so YABU

GetOrfMoiLand · 01/02/2010 13:43

My typing goes to shit whilst tyoing in a hurry. I think my posts are perfectly readable albeit spelled terribly so don't care tbh.

However if I put an apostrophe in a wring place or my grammar is all wrong I usually post to apologise or am paranouid the pedant harpies will point it out and think I am thick.

If you mean the usual suspect crap typist i think most people can work out what she is saying.

Bonsoir · 01/02/2010 13:43

Agree with the OP: slovenly typing/spelling/grammar on MN is in the same league as going to Tesco in pyjamas, in my book. This is a public forum. Please adhere to publicly acceptable forms of behaviour

pagwatch · 01/02/2010 13:44

well I have just sent grumpy "sort this out" style email about DS2 to about 20 people so either things will improve or I will be villified

HelloThisIsJoanie · 01/02/2010 13:46

oh i dont care
dont like it dont read it
twas ever htus

SofaQueen · 01/02/2010 13:47

I think there is a big difference between the odd typo (I am a horrible typist) and posts which are made difficult to comprehend due to abysmally shoddy typing/spelling. I think that some consider it to be a "style" - I just skip over the post.

HelloThisIsJoanie · 01/02/2010 13:48

god is there an elephant in the room?

itsmeolord · 01/02/2010 13:51

Yup. tis a big elephant that twas forever being villified by the pescatarian brigade.

Lizzylou · 01/02/2010 13:52

Today I have been v embarrassed (are we allowed to use "V"? ) as I read through earlier posts and they were shockingly mistyped. I thought I'd checked my spelling/grammar, but obv (oops!) not.

I used to hate Tis and Twas but have found myself using them both.

In my defence this laptop is on it's way out.

HelloThisIsJoanie · 01/02/2010 13:52

WHO could you mean
i mean WHO types badly on this site?
i cant think of anyone and oyu obviosly cant
or maybe youd just name them?

GetOrfMoiLand · 01/02/2010 13:54

Never mind Joan.

There was me thinking your madcap tyoing was due to nonconformist nature and now find out that you are actually doing it out of laziness.

Who knew?

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 01/02/2010 13:55

hahahaha, who's rattled your cage, tdwp?

HelloThisIsJoanie · 01/02/2010 13:56

lazy.
that is me.
i am continually amazed by the level of interest some posters have in me.
its most flattering.

foxinsocks · 01/02/2010 13:56

well just don't read it I would say

besides, you can't make that point and then have your own post full of typos. Makes me feel like uttering the word victimisation.
