nickytwotimes · 14/01/2010 15:48

Yanbu.

MadameMoe · 14/01/2010 15:48

YANBU

GetDownYouWillFall · 14/01/2010 15:49

it is when you're in a hurry...

duchesse · 14/01/2010 15:52

YANBU. People who insist on using foreign words should at least get them right. What grates my teeth on the blackboard is when people write "chaise lounge". Even typing that made me retch a little.

TootsieSmith · 14/01/2010 15:52

Haha my first ever job was in Starbucks, and this used to bug the hell out of me! When people asked for an expresso I would always say 'Sorry, did you say an espresso?'. A co-worker once said tp a customer 'I'm sorry, I can't see an expresso on the menu, we do have an espresso though if you'd prefer?' He got a good telling off but it was very funny!

duchesse · 14/01/2010 15:52

PS: You know this belongs in Pedants' Coin, don't you?

YANBU
Mumsie takes out editor's red Biro.

MIFLAW · 14/01/2010 16:19

Or a lartay.

SerenityNowAKABleh · 14/01/2010 16:22

YANBU.

If people don't know about coffee and words, they shouldn't be allowed either.

wildfig · 14/01/2010 16:24

mumsie impressed - capitalised Biro, go to top of House Style chart

Morloth · 14/01/2010 16:24

It had better be a bloody eXpresso, because I want it now.

ChickensLoveMarmite · 14/01/2010 16:25

I think it's just peeple trying to espress themselfs.

skybluewinking · 14/01/2010 16:26

Agree, but on the other hand can NOT bring myself to say VENTE or other made up words so that the coffee chain can avoid the word SMALL

littleomar · 14/01/2010 16:28

ooh ooh yanbu and off coffee topic but

"brushetta"

AAAARRRGHHHH

Rindercella · 14/01/2010 16:28

YANBU in the least. Makes me wince when I see it/hear it.

LadyThompson · 14/01/2010 16:28

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. You are SO right. It makes me ppppppppppppositively EXPLODE with irritation. Gnnf. 'Expresso' indeed. They should be shooed out of the shop, molto expresso.

squeaver · 14/01/2010 16:30

Ah yes. And over in pedants' corner we have a special badge of glory for those who complain about "a panini" (singular) or "panini's".

LadyThompson · 14/01/2010 16:32

The singular of scampi is scampo.

Of course, that's appropos of nothing but I thought I'd just throw it out there.

Rindercella · 14/01/2010 16:32

Or how about, two expresso's please?

Rindercella · 14/01/2010 16:32

Or worse, to see it written thus, "two expresso's for the price of one"

IsThatTheTime · 14/01/2010 16:33

littleomar you beat me to it, drives me mental, and it's surprising how often people in restaurants correct ME when i say brusketta

[italian snob emoticon]

Ronaldinhio · 14/01/2010 16:35

not a problem for super nanny I'd guess
