AIBU to be annoyed when I make a really good point on a thread

SerenityNowAKABleh · 02/12/2009 17:36

and then it's ignored, and either I have to repeat it, or then someone else comes and makes exactly the same point and everyone goes "oh yes, that's quite clever" "what a good and inciteful point" and so on. Maybe I should just type in caps?
So, AIBU?

OP posts:
2shoes · 02/12/2009 17:37

yabu
as it happens to everyone

sunburntats · 02/12/2009 17:38

every one, honestly, it does, all the time.

dont type in capitals, it just looks like you are shouting.
Know what you mean though.

Pikelit · 02/12/2009 17:38

Wassat?

Metella · 02/12/2009 17:41

Don't be cross - it happens to lots of people. I get pissed off when other people's interesting points are missed never mind my own!!!!

santaschristmascakeywakey · 02/12/2009 17:41

Sorry, was someone saying something there?

Yes, YABU. I get this too. It's nothing personal, people just don't always read the whole thread or every comment on it. And there's the issue of cross-posting too.

Ooooh, and don't be tempted to type in caps. IT'LL LOOK LIKE YOU'RE SHOUTING! You'll get attention then, but not the kind you probably want.

LetThereBeRock · 02/12/2009 17:42

YABU for even considering typing in capitals.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 02/12/2009 17:44

YANBU.

It happens to me a lot because I am exceptionally clever and empathic, but tend to post too near to the beginning of a thread

pagwatch · 02/12/2009 17:46

It happens to everyone.

I have a few open wounds faint memories of being the only person on a couple of threads thatthe OP didn't name check
But if it worries you then don't, for Gods sake, go on a 'who is your favorite MNer thread'.
There have been hundreds of those and i only ever got a mention once. I think I was giving out £10 notes.....
Those threads really make you realise that no one knows or cares who you are...

Jamieandhismagictorch · 02/12/2009 17:47

Love you pag , mwah, whah

You said something really funny and a bit rude on a thread about a week ago .....

GroundHoHoHogs · 02/12/2009 17:49

Well I think you're wonderful pagwatch, always soo wonderfully insightful... a veritable goldmine of advice and wisdom [suck up emoticon]

SerenityNowAKABleh · 02/12/2009 17:51

I was kind of joking about the caps. Of course.

OP posts:
SerenityNowAKABleh · 02/12/2009 17:52

I do sometimes think (to make myself feel better) that everyone is so astounded at how profound my comments are, they just don't know how to respond. [deluded emoticon]

OP posts:
Hullygully · 02/12/2009 17:53

Sorry, who are you?

(Waves to old Paggykins)

Jamieandhismagictorch · 02/12/2009 17:54

Serenity. Yes, me too.

(Or perhaps what I said was so banal that even typing "meh" was too much effort .......)

AliGrylls · 02/12/2009 17:59

I agree with everything said by Serenity.

I will never do it again.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 02/12/2009 17:59

Oh this happens to me, the getting ignored bit I mean because it would have to be a blue moon for me to ever write anything insightful.
I just dont get upset about it. However I joined here 9 months ago when I became pregnant, therefore no alcohol. Im not sure I will be able to control any bolshiness once im able to drink wine again.

McSnail · 02/12/2009 18:00

I find the layout of threads quite overwhelming - lots of posts on one page. It's easy to get lost in a mumsnet thread.

FabIsVeryHappy · 02/12/2009 18:01

YANBU but sometimes posts get missed as threads can go so quickly. I feel a bit miffed sometimes when I post something I think is good and someone else, usually the OP, posts at the same time and misses it.

santaschristmascakeywakey · 02/12/2009 18:01

Are there really 'Who is your favourite MNetter threads'?

pagwatch · 02/12/2009 18:03

There you go Serenity. Fuck the whole wit and wisdom approach. Just offer people money.

( How are you Hully, you lovely thing!)

I shall leave now having lit up this thread with my filthy lucre charm.

Off to watch Pagboy sing at Special Needs concert......
[random boast]

Jamieandhismagictorch · 02/12/2009 18:03

santa - yes. -they make you feel quite shit even though you know it's stupid.

McDreamyingofawhiteXmas · 02/12/2009 18:03

Always happens to me, have learnt to get over it, it's not an issue but it is very annoying!

HugeBaublesWhatDidISayRoy · 02/12/2009 18:03

I am full of wise words which are completely ignored.

pagwatch · 02/12/2009 18:04

Santa. There are sometimes.
They give me flashbacks to hiding in the school loo at break times. And beingthe last in my year to need a bra..

Hullygully · 02/12/2009 18:06

I'm never above a tenner, Paggy.
