to NOT want a SLANKET for christmas?!

DanJARMouse · 30/11/2009 15:13

DH has let it slip that my dad has bought me a SLANKET for christmas (check out lakeland catalogue....)

Now, Im not the ungrateful type - everyone who knows me will know that, but I cant help but feel its a bit of a rubbish present, especially from my dad who usually chooses so well!

Past presents from my dad have included Spa Day vouchers, DVDs and CDs I want and a digital camera, so I know he is capable.

I feel like a right bitch for being a little pissed off about it, but DH just keeps saying I will probably love it when we move to the Scottish Highlands after christmas..... but its a naff present isnt it?!

I've heard they're quite nice - I wouldn't hate it but I don't think its that bad a prezzie.

MamaG · 30/11/2009 15:16

link?

oopsandbabycoconut · 30/11/2009 15:18

slanket

MamaG · 30/11/2009 15:19

Are you 75?

Pheebe · 30/11/2009 15:19

Is is a naff present? Yes probably for anyone under the age of 60. Although it does look ultra-snuggly...

AYBU for not wanting one? No (assuming you're under 60)

AYBU for not wanting your Dad to give you one. I'd have to say and a bit ungrateful - the gift is the givers choice and while we can hope they will choose something we really like they cant be right ALL the time.

Try and remind yourself of the reasons he's chosen that for you - he loves you, he wants you to be warm and comfortable, he loves you . Maybe imagine its your dad giving you a hug every time you use it

I just feel like screaming "im 27 not 47" but maybe I am being a bit precious.

I quite fancy one of those

bigchris · 30/11/2009 15:21

I think your dh is unreasonable for telling you what your dad bought you

Skegness · 30/11/2009 15:23

I have a slanket! It's ace. Toasty and silly and my kids are SOOO jealous. It's not just aimed at OAPs, you know- it's one of the top selling gift item on Firebox.com!

GentleOtter · 30/11/2009 15:24

They are brilliant. Our family, well not dh, we all look like Yoda Jedi warriors in them.

YohoAhoy · 30/11/2009 15:24

What does it say about me that my first thought on seeing the picture was "ooh, I want one" ?

I would work on the premise that there's thought behind it - you're moving somewnere likely to be chilly, and he wants you give you warmth & comfort.

Sassybeast · 30/11/2009 15:27

I want one I want on so that hopefully the endless snipes from DH about the heating being on will stop, as I will snuggle under my slanket and be taosty warm and ignore him. YABVVVU - slankets rule

NorksDrift · 30/11/2009 15:28

Gary Fender makes love under his!
(Not a look that would turn me on!)

GentleOtter · 30/11/2009 15:29

You don't walk around in them, you sort of waft.

Skegness · 30/11/2009 15:29

Get one, sassy and yoho. They truly rock! DanGAR, you are a lucky woman with a fabbulous Dad.

mummylin2495 · 30/11/2009 15:30

I want one too !

bigchris · 30/11/2009 15:31

ha ha at least he didn't buy one for both of you

StealthPolarBear · 30/11/2009 15:32

ooh i want one

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 30/11/2009 15:32

I want one!

I think it's a fab present!

MadameDuBain · 30/11/2009 15:32

Ooh I love that kind of stuff - not that I need one as I have lots of cosy nightgown/woolly sock combos, a sleeping bag with armholes and some lovely blankets. DP has given me blankets as presents and I've never minded.

StealthPolarBear · 30/11/2009 15:32

I wonder if they do nursing slankets? That would be ideal for me
(I'm being serious BTW!)

Skegness · 30/11/2009 15:33

It could be so much worse- you could be getting home made body fluid chutney instead of the warm cosy wonder that is a slanket.

GentleOtter · 30/11/2009 15:34

and this to wear in the double slanket

Skegness · 30/11/2009 15:35

Stealth- I do a lot of feeding in my slanket. I just remove one arm from the armhole and nestle my baby inside. I bet there would be a market for official nursing slankets though!

Wallace · 30/11/2009 15:35

Honestly, seriously you will love it when you move to the Scottish Highlands.

It is snowy at the mo and freezing cold. I need a slanket.
