to NOT want a SLANKET for christmas?!

DH has let it slip that my dad has bought me a SLANKET for christmas (check out lakeland catalogue....)

Now, Im not the ungrateful type - everyone who knows me will know that, but I cant help but feel its a bit of a rubbish present, especially from my dad who usually chooses so well!

Past presents from my dad have included Spa Day vouchers, DVDs and CDs I want and a digital camera, so I know he is capable.

I feel like a right bitch for being a little pissed off about it, but DH just keeps saying I will probably love it when we move to the Scottish Highlands after christmas..... but its a naff present isnt it?!

I don't think the double slanket is a great idea. What if one of you wants to go to the toilet - you both have to go?

Never liked those big slippers for both your feet either - they give me visions of forgetting you have it on, getting up to answer the doorbell and CRASH, braining yourself on the fireplace.

mollyroger · 30/11/2009 16:54

I actually considered one (a single, the double is just fricking sad)
I'd buy one if they were cheaper. i spend most nights burried under a brown furry rug anyway

namechangedmoi · 30/11/2009 16:57

Ebay is fab I hear!!

nickelbabe · 30/11/2009 16:57

i want one!! it's lovely!

however, i do get the feeling that maybe your DH has told your dad that he won't be turning the heating on all winter to save money.
I think you're going to need it!

Janos · 30/11/2009 16:58

Oooh I'm jealous - I wanna slanket! They look soooooo cosy.

Ronaldinhio · 30/11/2009 17:05

I thought this was another one of thise poorly spelt threads.....

TinselinaBumsquash · 30/11/2009 17:07

I want a slanket!

paisleyleaf · 30/11/2009 17:08

Is it not a dressing gown on back to front?

thesockmonsterofdoom · 30/11/2009 17:09

I want one, now.

whoops · 30/11/2009 17:16

I quite like the look of that too
possibly having no heating in our house makes it more appealing too!

KnickKnackLovesLateLateToyShow · 30/11/2009 17:20

oh god I would love one

Lilymaid · 30/11/2009 17:20

I'm over 47 and wouldn't wear one. However DS2 (aged 18) would probably wear one when in - provided he could play computer games whilst wearing it.

I secretly think they look quite snuggy, but would be intensely offended if someone bought me one as a present. Hypocrite, moi ?

Skegness - they could be considered coolish when only sold on Firebox, but now JML do them I think their time is over

Knownowt · 30/11/2009 17:33

Bonjour slanket, au revoir sex life. I think they're horrid. I love snuggly warm clothes as much as the next woman but seriously, they're like something for the feebly convalescent.

I wouldn't be annoyed at being given one- after all, it's a present and you don't get to choose. I wouldn't be thrilled though and would wonder what impression I was giving out that someone might think I'd want one. What next, one of those big slippers?

mrsshackleton · 30/11/2009 17:39

DH and I spent all weekend threatening each other with a slanket for Christmas if we didn't treat each other better

What did you do to upset your dad? {wink]

I have found just the thing to give him in return

RustyBear · 30/11/2009 17:43

DD was hinting that she'd like one of these - and she's 19! Of course, now that she's living in a student house for most of the year, she's paying for her own heating....

KnottyLocks · 30/11/2009 17:58

if your worried about the glamour, you could add some sequins.

Would be a better present than the mop MIL bought be one Christmas.

KnottyLocks · 30/11/2009 18:00

Grrr

If you're

and bought me

Long day....

wildfig · 30/11/2009 18:03

My sister gave me a lovely big cream-coloured one last Christmas. It is fab. I sit on the sofa tucked up with a book, a cup of coffee, and the dog on my knee, and it is BLISS in our chilly house. You will love it. I promise.

Sequins are a good idea, though...

teamcullen · 30/11/2009 18:06

My 7 year old want one!
Primark do them for about £7

Im dying to buy one for somebody. They are definatly in the top ten chrstmas list for adults, or at least they should be

diddl · 30/11/2009 18:14

I think it´s really thoughtful tbh.

And with the stuff he´s bought in the past, he´s probably running out of ideas!

MrsChemist · 30/11/2009 18:18

I asked for a slanket for Christmas last year, but they were sold out

StealthPolarBear · 30/11/2009 18:31

KL a mop??? really?
nice
was it a posh one?

littlepollyflinders · 30/11/2009 18:34

Mine too Rusty!
But at 18 she's still a BIG snugglebunny
