To think that some folk take this far too seriously

There are some posters who seem to feel they are operating in a War Zone. In a War Zone where only they are allowed guns. They can say what they like but as soon as somebody bites back it "Hey Ho, Hey Ho its off to Mumsnet HQ I go".

99% of what gets posted is just light relief not the end of civilisation as we know it.

That would be an Extended sleep Gorionine ...

catinthehat2 · 11/11/2009 12:59

Is it this one?

or have I missed something?

Defluffmyfanjo · 11/11/2009 13:04

I thought lenin meant the one in chat re blaming victims.

Although obviously i'll get this post deleted now too.

Bah.

BitOfFun · 11/11/2009 13:17

As CitizenPrecious said, you do start seeing them eveywhere

The one about resenting looking after someone else's child is yanking my chain, and that blame the victim one- but I am prepared to concede it might just be me, so I've said nowt. HQ can't do much if the IP address is different, but it is extraordinarily easy to change it, and any self-respecting troll on MN would be investing in the means to do that, just to stick two fingers up to us lot. I think I shall leave it to subtle puns about extending things, just so he knows we've rumbled him. It still leaves the problem of how to stop the horrendous emotional vampire ones.

PerArduaAdNauseum · 11/11/2009 13:19

Hey BoF - did you notice Stellamel (DP wants to find himself in Pakistan rather than just looking down the back of the sofa like a sensible chap) is posting on that victims thread? Yay!

CitizenPrecious · 11/11/2009 13:21

pag's suggestion of arming posters

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

gorionine · 11/11/2009 13:33

I am just very tired Redlentils, not trying to give criptic clues

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 11/11/2009 13:38

Please will someone explain. I feel like i did when in the school playground and people whispering secrets an refusing to tell. I am very confused

gorionine · 11/11/2009 13:41

join the club hobnobsaremyfave! We could have a face as a badge?

Defluffmyfanjo · 11/11/2009 13:46

And now violetsomeone or other is telling me off for being mean.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Fine, you know what, if you (general 'you' not anyone in particular) want to invest time and emotions in some nobber who is having a swift hand shufty then be my guest, I'll leave you to it.

BitOfFun · 11/11/2009 14:15

I think we need a troll corner- we could post links to all the notorious trolls that mnhq can't prove so have to leave up, and then people might be able to start spotting Extended etc themselves and give them a wide berth. I am starting to feel a serious compassion fatigue the way he is posting daily at the moment- it makes you wonder whether anybody is real

Hullygully · 11/11/2009 14:36

i do still wonder tho whether it really matters if it is genuine or not. A lot of people really enjoy giving advice/support/shoulders etc in the same way that people continue to post on a thread even after it's been exposed as a trollery (lighthearted or serious)just because they want to. That's the bit that fascinates me.

Defluffmyfanjo · 11/11/2009 14:38

I know - I think ive gone crazed, i didnt think much of that child care 'Jane' one but not its bugging me, just doesn't seem real.

Then the one re the 'blame the victim' is freaking me out. Plus that one where he was navy and wanted op to leave and in the meantime he was staying in a hotel with another woman, starting to think that was weird too.

Oh well, keeps me entertained i suppose, if a little weirded out.

Defluffmyfanjo · 11/11/2009 14:39

not in first line was meant to be now

Hullygully · 11/11/2009 14:41

In the navy? i feel a song coming on.

weegiemum · 11/11/2009 14:44

"you can get yourself clean, you can have a good meal"

Oh no, that's YMCA isn't it?

Hullygully · 11/11/2009 14:46

They want you they want you they want you in the navy too, but probably in the YMCA as well.

I'm glad that there are other people picking up on this because I often-ish feel about a poster and then think "no, weegie, you are just being mean"

(and if I came on here afresh and told the story of my life you would all be going at me!)

Some people have crap lives, but most people don't post on the internet about it that much.

weegiemum · 11/11/2009 14:49

And cos I am here now being nice I could be a "founder member" and then I wouldn't have to cry because I was being "left out" even though I have been here for 10,000 years!

Hullygully · 11/11/2009 14:51

How about NotTroldies?

BitOfFun · 11/11/2009 14:52

What would we call ourselves? Moldies has been done. Trolly-dollies?

weegiemum · 11/11/2009 14:53

I was thinking Trolldies, but I suppose the whole point is that we're not.

Or are we?
