To think that some folk take this far too seriously

There are some posters who seem to feel they are operating in a War Zone. In a War Zone where only they are allowed guns. They can say what they like but as soon as somebody bites back it "Hey Ho, Hey Ho its off to Mumsnet HQ I go".

99% of what gets posted is just light relief not the end of civilisation as we know it.

It isn't right it isn't fair
All these ladies do not care
I really need some better luck
and all they say is 'off you fuck'

can I get the silver medal?

GrimmaTheNome · 10/11/2009 17:14

Oh goodness, I entirely believed LoneParents (original?) post about his daughter starting her periods. But the one in that link ... even I might have smelt a rat.

BitOfFun · 10/11/2009 17:42

I only just noticed the brilliant nugget in that about his MIL advising him he coulodn't marry his dead wife's adopted sister because she read it in Bella

RedLentil · 10/11/2009 18:31

Ann, I think you can apprentice yourself to hully to learn her craft. You will need to read her contributions to the dead gerbil thread to realise her true greatness.

groundhogs · 10/11/2009 18:34

Raisedincare namechanged to MrsHiggins btw. Can't find the thread where she actually said she had changed, but she did.

warthog · 10/11/2009 18:42

omg !!! was totally taken in by oneofapair.

NOW i know why people hate trolls. you invest time and emotion into helping someone. won't stop me though.

BitOfFun · 10/11/2009 18:42

How interesting- I had missed that! So this is the kind of odious heartstring tugging?

And people complain about trollhunts- how exploitative and bizarre to be this kind of troll in the first place!

God, it's foul.

AnnVan · 10/11/2009 18:53

That really is VILE!! That is dispicable. Really - WHY on earth would you do somethig like that?! It's such a tender issue for people who have been through care/abandonment, and to exploit it like that is beyond words.

AnyFucker · 10/11/2009 18:56

I think fabster was on the case there though, although "MrsHiggins" wasn't directly challenged on that thread

who could challenge that though ?

awful

BitOfFun · 10/11/2009 19:02

It is really nasty. I know that the person is bored and perhaps needs the attention for mental health reasons, but it's so cruel and manipulative. If I'd seen it, I would have reported it rather than risk a flaming, probably, but it does irritate me that some people bang on about troll-spotters putting people off MN, when what the trolls are doing is just so vile- of course I don't want to see people I like shedding tears for some big fat fake! It's pretty hard to keep schtum when you see it.

TheCrackFox · 10/11/2009 19:09

I did think RaisedinCare was a troll but was too scared to say just in case she wasn't. I really didn't want to look like a complete bitch.

BitOfFun · 10/11/2009 19:14

That's exactly the problem- it also encourages them to be ever more extreme and emotionally intense, as an insurance policy. Look at the fallout over dizzymare, for example.

Hullygully · 10/11/2009 19:29

redlentil

Touched as I am by your thought
Of dead gerbils I do not know ought

catinthehat2 · 10/11/2009 19:29

And Retiredlady.

And a couple of ones on the go at the moment whcih I daren't mention as some people still believe in them.

Oh OK since you insist, NeedToConfess and BigSisandlittlebro.

Plus the wanking person NoSmellyKnickers.

catinthehat2 · 10/11/2009 19:31

Oneofapair got on my tits - whining whining whining git.

Hullygully · 10/11/2009 19:32

Thanks for the medal BoF - have had a shit few days, needed something shiny and twinkling.

catinthehat2 · 10/11/2009 19:32

All the same person, same awful style

wastingaway · 10/11/2009 19:40

BoF, I was away from the internets just as the dizzymare thing blew up, what happened?

What was that about redlentil hully?

VengefulSinner · 10/11/2009 20:07

PMSL @ Hullygully!!!

Cor - I have been here a couple of months and so have missed nearly all these threads, but if the thread links I have clicked on from posted messages are trolls that is seriously messed up!

What on earth kick these people get out of it, I don't know :S
