to think that Brazilian waxes are NOT the norm. Or am I deluded?

Article in the Times basically saying that it is an expectation nowadays that women will have Brazillians.

women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/women/relationships/article6893826.ece

Is this the case nowadays? I have never had a wax job down below and have no intention of. Sod that!

Particularly at this quote: "There is something hugely irritating about being forced to conform to an aesthetic ideal instigated and perpetuated by the porn industry, but...it is now expected. If your boyfriend has been conditioned to expect a tidy Brazilian, he may genuinely find anything else very off-putting".

Really? Or in actually still having pubic hair am I the modern equivalent of the wild woman of Borneo?

I am really embarrassed now.... A convo i would have with friends maybe but.... oh dear

MuGGGhoulWump · 31/10/2009 20:11

"Genitals aren't very beautiful hairy or not."

Speak for yourself Nooka, my fanjo's stunning I'll have you know

Morloth · 31/10/2009 20:13

Fanjos might be, but I would think a willy would look a bit sad and lost with nowhere to hide.

Don't be embarrassed BrokkenHarted!

feralgirl · 31/10/2009 20:18

Totallyandutterypanninied, there are no germs in wee

That said, I have a landing strip at the mo as I find that things are a bit more, ahem, sensitive when I'm deforested. I use a depilator which hurts like hell but it's less scary than burny-hot wax and less embaressing than a NVQer squinting up my fanjo.

I'm a right lazy mare though so my muff'll be back to it's usual beaver-ish self fairly soon.

BTW, DH has never dared comment about the state of my bits.

feralgirl · 31/10/2009 20:19

Morloth, my DH went through a phase of trimming his pubes.

jybay · 31/10/2009 20:20

As a female GP I get to see fanjos by the dozen . Brazillians are definitely not the norm - it's quite unusual to see them though it's also unusual to see women totally au naturel.

BTW - it's your vulva that has the hair, not your vagina which is the inside bit (revoltingly described by obstetricians as "the birth canal" - ugh). Women need to know their bits!

BiteOfFun · 31/10/2009 20:20

Morloth- that puts me in mind of the old Spitting Image song and the rubber chicken...

feralgirl · 31/10/2009 20:22

Or [http://budak.blogs.com/the_annotated_budak/images/molerat.jpg this]]

feralgirl · 31/10/2009 20:23

BiteOfFun · 31/10/2009 20:23

Morloth · 31/10/2009 20:24

DH wondering what the giggling is about in my corner...

I was going to go with this feralgirl.

jybay · 31/10/2009 20:25

BrokkenHarted · 31/10/2009 20:29

HAHAAAAAAAAAA both hilarious!!!

I think Morloth wins that one though!!

girlsyearapart · 31/10/2009 20:31

I've had two brazilians (landing strip not total thought that was a Holllywood?)

One before my wedding one for my 30th when we went to The Ritz. (yes bragging )

Other times I shave round the sides cos I prefer it tidier. So does DH but doesn't complain if it's not done either.

Shave underarms most days and legs prob twice a week. Don't like feeling stubbly or hairy. Also probably due to amount of years spent in Swimsuit. No not on Baywatch- swimmer/lifeguard/swim instructor.

DH uses his clippers to shave his own down there hair as he reckons he gets more BJs off me if he does..

Also when pg asked him to do a tidy up with the razor for me!

Did that poster come back about the birthing norm?? Intrigued now!

BrokkenHarted · 31/10/2009 20:32

"but I would think a willy would look a bit sad and lost with nowhere to hide."

My hubby has never shaved like i said but he is ginger and from a distance you cant see his pubes. His wee thing ('Big Boy' to him ) does look a bit bare and exposed then!!

BiteOfFun · 31/10/2009 20:36

Oh Gawd Morloth- that thing looks like it is shitting a face out of its bum

BrokkenHarted · 31/10/2009 20:39

Lol @ BiteOfFun

Morloth · 31/10/2009 20:39

My work here is done.

Cicatrice · 31/10/2009 20:40

My DH shaves down below. It keeps him amused.

But post episiotomy, I'm wary of razors anywhere near me so I'm sporting the full "Joy of Sex" illustration vintage muff.

And inted to continue

Firawla · 31/10/2009 20:46

i want to know the birthing norm too
im suprised so many people don't remove, because everyone i know does. via whatever method, that can vary but people remove everything..

OmicronPersei8yourbrain · 31/10/2009 21:09

Feralgirl and Morloth those pictures...

roneef · 31/10/2009 21:11

I thought we were in multicultural Britain?

There are billions of muslims in the world. All the men and women are required to remove hair from privates/armpits.

I agree with the posters who see some posters views as hypocrisy. If you remove leg/armpit hair - what's the big difference?

cinnamon81 · 31/10/2009 21:18

Most of my peers (late twenties) remove most of their lady hair, either by wax or shaving. Can't recall when any of us started or why!
