to say my daughter can't shave her legs?

My DD1 is fed up with her "hairy legs" to be honest I don't think they are that bad, but then what do I know?! She is 12 and certainly things are happening and her body is changing, but doesn't 12 seem awfully young to be starting down that road?

I know she could use that stinky cream stuff and she doesn't have to slice her legs to ribbons like I remember doing ( and always when I was just about to go out!) but she seems so young.

I am not ready for this yet!! Has anyone else had this come up ?!! Help!!

OP posts:

At 12 I was being teased for having hairy legs. Best to immac or other

LadyBeagleEyes · 18/05/2013 15:02

I know Maryz. Grin

Dawndonna · 18/05/2013 16:08

Fuck of with digging four year old threads out of the woodwork!

Dawndonna · 18/05/2013 16:09

off.

WorraLiberty · 18/05/2013 16:12

HQ are adamant that they don't want to make these threads lockable for some reason.

They should be locked after 6 months of inactivity imo.

People can still read them and even link to them for reference if they want, but at least they can't bloody bump them back up.

Dawndonna · 18/05/2013 16:25

Sounds fair to me, Worra
If somebody really wanted to update, for example, their own thread, I'm sure HQ could unlock for 24 hours.

Bobyan · 18/05/2013 16:32

dazedanddizzy interesting first post..

HazeltheMcWitch · 18/05/2013 16:34

I thought that too, Bobyan - but I couldn't figure out how you'd search out a relatively innocuous thread like this. I don't get it!

And Maryz - you too have unlocked a mystery as to why people don't notice it's a zombie thread. They really only read the OP! My mind boggles.

HazeltheMcWitch · 18/05/2013 16:35

(well, not 'you', Bobyan obvs - how one would search out...)

ShellyBoobs · 18/05/2013 16:41

...or lock threads of over a given number of pages, eg 100 pages

That already happens, Suffolk; 1000 posts is the MN limit.

waxing hurts like hell. Don't teach her that she has to suffer to be acceptable. Show her how to use a razor which doesn't hurt and is cheap.

And if there is bullying in the school about hairy legs, it needs to be stopped.

cream. or if you want to put her off, wax.
they are her legs.

rabbitlady · 18/05/2013 17:45

good grief, she'll be old enough to shave her head by now.

PearlyWhites · 18/05/2013 17:54

Yes yabvu

JenaiMorris · 18/05/2013 18:07

New poster resurrects an old thread - it's hardly the biggest faux pas in the world, is it?

thistlelicker · 18/05/2013 18:11

I know somebody who lets her ten yr old use her epilator

Hugglepuff · 18/05/2013 18:12

YABU - you might not be ready, but it is your daughter who will potentially be teased at school.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 18/05/2013 18:16

ZOMBIE THREAD

chansondumatin · 18/05/2013 18:19

When I was 12 I broke my leg over the summer, meaning that once the cast was off I had one very pale, hairy leg and one tanned, not-so-hairy one.

Fake tans weren't on the market then, but thankfully my mum let me shave my legs (possibly even suggested it?) to stop me being quite so much of a laughing stock.

I recommend you let your daughter do the same.

It's probably been said, but... forbidding her from shaving and allowing her to get torn to bits by a pack of baying schoolgirls is NOT going to make her less body-conscious.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 18/05/2013 19:08

Oooops.

Molehillmountain · 18/05/2013 19:11

Do zombies have to shave their legs? At least the op will by now have allowed her dd to shave her legs-after all she is now 16 or so Wink
