Wearing mini skirt and thigh boots and baby over an hour away at granny's overnight?

Would you?

I went to a pop concert 100 miles away when DC1 was a week and a half old. It was booked before I was PG and I really wanted to go.

Expressing in a smelly portaloo is not something I want to repeat and I often wonder how I managed the whole thing. It was an outdoor concert and I could not sit on the ground of long periods of time

HaggisNeepsnTatties · 21/08/2009 23:28

Its not really an example of bad motherhood is it??

mears · 21/08/2009 23:29

Don't worry - I do think it takes all sorts of people to make a world and she can do whatever she likes. It does not mean that I think there are parenting issues. I'm just being naughty commenting on it.

Yes you are Mears....

Clary · 21/08/2009 23:33

I'm impressed despite myself.

But no, no I wouldn't do that. No emkana, not just you, I bled for about 4 wks every time.

Hello Mears

scottishmummy · 21/08/2009 23:33

hell if she can why not-wearing thigh high boots and mini.go girl

or are you suggesting mumsy clothes and sensible shoes for new mums?

granny has a phone number to call if any problems

Piffle · 21/08/2009 23:37

I think the age might affect my judgey mc judgnessness.
If she is under 25, more understanding
If she is the 55 then less so...
Take all sorts and sounds like the baby maybe got in the way of her social life and she is keen to regain that part of her back.
At least baby is with someone safe...

I had dead easy deliveries and I was not even able to pull on owt more than Birkies for days afterwards. My boobs were the size of the moon and quite frankly even being 23 and fit with my first, a mini skirt was a dream away...
So half me says good on her
Other half says
get to bed with your baby missus...

Salme101 · 21/08/2009 23:38

I just don't get why some people seem to feel this urge to rush around all the time. There'll be many other parties, what's so special about this one that you have to leave your 4 day old baby overnight?! If I was her mum, I think I'd be saying "Darling, I really don't think so".

HaggisNeepsnTatties · 21/08/2009 23:39

I'm glad you are not my mum!!

dooit · 21/08/2009 23:39

I must be a terrible mother then. I had DD3 on the Thursday and went out with DH and a few friends on the Saturday night.

I was a bit cheesed off that DH got to go out and get all the pats on the back when I was the one that had just pushed my perfect little being into the world (he did the same 15 months earlier with DD2. I got left home alone with the DDs while he celebrated and I felt a bit deflated). I'd had an amazing home birth and was still on cloud nine so wanted to share it with all and sundry.

I was out for an hour or so as I was BFing but it was just long enough for me to be met with stunned adulation in the local.

HaggisNeepsnTatties · 21/08/2009 23:41

Good for you Dooit!! Giving birth is not an illness. If you feel up to going out, why not? And I dont see what age has to do with it either?

emkana · 21/08/2009 23:41

Well just an hour between breastfeeds is slightly different though isn't it.

Piffle · 21/08/2009 23:42

dooit so was I! I trundled to the local for a Guinness and was duly beatified for walking without wincing and talking more about rugby than my new son, but then 1.5 hrs after I arrived I left to feed me babby...

Piffle · 21/08/2009 23:43

age was in relation to attire not going out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

scottishmummy · 21/08/2009 23:44

new mum chose to go out- good for her
anyone else spluttering that is your issue not hers

her baby wont suffer attachment issues if mum goes out

HaggisNeepsnTatties · 21/08/2009 23:44

Oh I see....55 and wearing thigh high boots....

You mean going out dressed like Vanessa Feltz??

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 21/08/2009 23:44

I think the judgeyness is more about feeding choices than anythiung. OK to nip out co you're clearly breastfeeding. Overnight and thigh boots, must be bottle. My goodness, how very dare they!

dooit · 21/08/2009 23:47

The thigh highs were to tuck her tummy into though. I know mine were.

mears · 21/08/2009 23:48

My judgeyness is about being able to have such a newborn away overnight - not feeding choices.

But I totally admit that it is none of my business

OP posts:
Piffle · 21/08/2009 23:48

nah I'm over the breast bottle thing big time. (15,7 and 2.5)
It's the attire keeping my interest. Honest

mears · 21/08/2009 23:48

very good dooit

OP posts:
Piffle · 21/08/2009 23:49

I agree mears, I could leave for a bit yep, but not overnight... Not that young. But different strokes...

scottishmummy · 21/08/2009 23:50

her newborn wont suffer attachment or owt else issue

if new mum feels good, sees her friends has a fun night- well good for her

dooit · 21/08/2009 23:51

Funny thing is I remember thinking I looked a million dollars with my mens jeans and baggy tea shirt on. I think the endorphins were still pumping.

Piffle · 21/08/2009 23:51

also her sanitary towel obviously did not have wings as they would have caught the tops of the boots and clung and caused untold carnage bet she took tiny strides
