To be a bit annoyed that my cleaner made herself a cuppa?

Have had a cleaner for about 8 weeks. On first visit I offered her a cuppa as I was having one but she declined and said she always brought her own drinks with her [pointed to cool bag].

I usually let her in and clear off with the DCs while she's there but last week I came back a bit earlier than normal and noticed she'd made herself a brew.

I'm not really pissed off but it's niggling at me. Isn't there and unwritten rule that they shouldn't go in your cupboards/drawers?

My mother is half-French, half-Mexican-American.

She loves tripe, tongue, offal.

Things like menudo, caldo and lagua (tongue).

BARF!

She's travelled all over the world and eating horse, dog, octopus, and stuff she never bothered to ask what it was.

eeeeewww.

expatinscotland · 21/08/2009 23:24

I know for a fact she's eaten guinea pig when we were in S. America.

I first came to Scotland with her and we were in this fancy restaurant and she asked to sample haggis.

Barf!

I said to her, in Spanish, 'Mama, that is organ meat.'

She said, 'Mmm.'

And she ordered it to eat after sampling it.

Pass the bucket!

scottishmummy · 21/08/2009 23:26

i believe haggis is banned in NAmerica as it contains offal.allegedly a hearty trade in contraband genuine haggis

i hear Scottish week in NY is achingly awful

i love veggie haggis,with curry sauce.mmmm

expatinscotland · 21/08/2009 23:35

I don't see how that can be true when there are millions of Latinos who eat things like caldo, menudo and barbecoa which are offal.

Also, a chain of cafes at least in Texas, called Luby's, serve liver and onions.

And liver is organ meat.

Thunderduck · 21/08/2009 23:36

Haggis is delicious.

Thunderduck · 21/08/2009 23:38

As is black pudding.

I'm craving both now and I have neither in the house.

scottishmummy · 21/08/2009 23:39

bizarrely, tis true scottish govt ask usa to lift haggis ban hence the contraband Scottish haggis

i believe haggis manufactured in USA is ok,just not the real deal from scotland

HaggisNeepsnTatties · 21/08/2009 23:47

Black pudding and haggis truly delicious!!

I am starving now....

expatinscotland · 22/08/2009 00:05

It's totally nasty, haggis! It should be banned everywhere except for use as like, dog food or pig slop or some other such.

Barf!

People like my mother would willingly eat it, but she is a completely misguided person when it comes to foodstuffs and you can't rely on her because she will eat 'mystery meat' with no question.

HaggisNeepsnTatties · 22/08/2009 00:09

Lol!!

I have to say that haggis (as you can tell from my name) is one of my ultimate favourite foods......

Almost as good as black pudding......

scottishmummy · 22/08/2009 00:10

nowt in a haggis that isnt in sausage or burgers

expatinscotland · 22/08/2009 00:18

Aye, but haggis tastes rank.

scottishmummy · 22/08/2009 00:19

you no likey?fair enough

expatinscotland · 22/08/2009 00:25

but i like spicy food, too, and at least two other people in the house, both from Edinbugh, don't.

i'm grooming the other two, however .

juicyjolly · 22/08/2009 00:35

kwackers......in answer to your op,YABU.

Your cleaner must have mistaken you for a decent human being....you did offer her a cuppa in the beginning........she just assumed you wouldnt begrudge her one weeks later.....yes, I know, cant get good help anywhere nowadays!

OP, YABU.

mumzy · 22/08/2009 08:11

Why don't you try cleaning your own house for 2-3 hours and not have a cup of tea!

scottishmummy · 22/08/2009 13:23

emma didnt know that!she calls it potted hough/heid interchangably

looks like slurry to me
