To be a bit annoyed that my cleaner made herself a cuppa?

kwaker5 · 19/08/2009 20:01

Have had a cleaner for about 8 weeks. On first visit I offered her a cuppa as I was having one but she declined and said she always brought her own drinks with her [pointed to cool bag].

I usually let her in and clear off with the DCs while she's there but last week I came back a bit earlier than normal and noticed she'd made herself a brew.

I'm not really pissed off but it's niggling at me. Isn't there and unwritten rule that they shouldn't go in your cupboards/drawers?

Tablet is lovely. Brown sauce is vile.

gypsymoon · 21/08/2009 19:18

What is tablet???

OrmIrian · 21/08/2009 19:19

What are those funny little pies with the lids that sink in, that exude volcano temperature grease when you attempt to eat them? used to buy them on Cal Mac ferries in the days when sheep dogs were welcome in the bar.

scottishmummy · 21/08/2009 19:19

my favourite chippy

Thunderduck · 21/08/2009 19:20

It's a Scottish sweet. Like a grainy fudge. It's very sweet and it's delicious.

Thunderduck · 21/08/2009 19:21

scottishmummy · 21/08/2009 19:22

scottishmummy · 21/08/2009 19:26

scotch pie nice wi gravy

OrmIrian · 21/08/2009 19:27

Yep that's them! Taster nicer than they should have if you were cold and wet. Painful hot but you didn't want them to go cold cos then the fat would congeal

gypsymoon · 21/08/2009 19:28

Ahh tablet...my teeth simultaneously rotted reading that recipe.

Sounds bloody lovely though

NonGratisAnusDailyMail · 21/08/2009 19:31

at tablet recipe! You have to stir it constantly for 45 minutes? It had better be good after that sort of effort!

NonGratisAnusDailyMail · 21/08/2009 19:32

Bet it would be lovely with a cuppa half way through a cleaning job though

scottishmummy · 21/08/2009 19:34

of course there was the infamous pie throwing at Mo Johnson

he was cetic sisgned to rangers, much upset.during auld firm game a hail of rock hard greasy scotch pies rained down, one wee gemmie was knicked for it

the defence was how can we ascertain it was my clients pie, amongst the many thrown

priceless

scotchpie - a weapon and lunch

OrmIrian · 21/08/2009 19:35

rofl! What a foodstuff! I bow down in admiration of the genius that created it.

expatinscotland · 21/08/2009 19:56

sheepdogs still welcome in pubs round here!

went to sheep competition a fortnight ago, well, actually, we just went to the shop adjacent to where it was being held, but hey ho, the bairns weans wanted to see the fecking sheep, so i took the girls along.

everyone knew one another.

i felt like we were from another planet.

until one of the young farmers, only 9-years-old himself, who did very well in the comp, went up to DD1 and said, 'well, aren't you a bonnie lass? i'm angus ----. what are you called?' so she went all pink and whispered her name and said she was from a village closer to 'toon', well, the closest thing to a toon for about 100 miles around.

wow! you'd have thought she said she came from London!

mmmm, pie supper. some folks call them bridies.

i like a scotch pie myself.

can make them fairly well now.

expatinscotland · 21/08/2009 19:57

sheepdogs on the bus, too!

a plenty.

DD2's nursery teacher is married to a family who are breeders of champion sheepdogs.

'come by. come by.'

Thunderduck · 21/08/2009 20:00

Bridies are much nicer than Scotch pies.

expatinscotland · 21/08/2009 20:03

my fav is the chicken curry pie from the fridge section. i don't know the name of who makes them, but there's red and black tartan print on the wrapper.

mmmmm.

perfect on a chilly day for a quick lunch.
