To be a bit annoyed that my cleaner made herself a cuppa?

Have had a cleaner for about 8 weeks. On first visit I offered her a cuppa as I was having one but she declined and said she always brought her own drinks with her [pointed to cool bag].

I usually let her in and clear off with the DCs while she's there but last week I came back a bit earlier than normal and noticed she'd made herself a brew.

I'm not really pissed off but it's niggling at me. Isn't there and unwritten rule that they shouldn't go in your cupboards/drawers?

Oh yes, nongratis! Which, presumably, is located in the far crner of our square world.

NonGratisAnusDailyMail · 21/08/2009 16:10

@ Elie

iceagethree · 21/08/2009 16:17

no, elie, it was a reference to what we were talking about earlier of course

you know, when you said it was ok for all those horrible names to be bandied about? do you remember now?

i've noticed this too kitty: the not reading thing does make me

pmsl is so coarse

ElieRM · 21/08/2009 16:21

iceage- the more you post, the less sense you seem to be making to me.
pmsl is nowhere near as course as the s+m forum, but that shan't stop me attending.

spokette · 21/08/2009 16:22

I personally blame the Human Rights Act.

You know that society is going downhill when even the cleaning staff have an expectation to take it upon themselves to obtain hot water with tea bag thrown in to provide sustenance whilst cleaning up others mess.

What is the world coming to when it is OK to pay others to tidy up your mess but begrude them flavoured hot water to drink?

iceagethree · 21/08/2009 16:22

oh god oh god i'm sorry i can't stand this any more and have to explain

Eli .. when I made the "round world" comment what I meant was, that people are so set on disagreeing with us that even though everyone knows the world is round, if WE said it people would disagree

i really wasn't saying that you think the world is square

i can't believe that you picked that up the wrong way

oh go on, snort again, it's so frightfully clever and makes me feel as though I'm completely in the wrong

ElieRM · 21/08/2009 16:26

iceage- I'm not claiming to be the brightest, but I am quite aware that's what you were saying. I'm afraid I was been obtuse, silly and childish. Largely because it's all got a bit ridiculous.

IdontMN2makecopyforlazyjournos · 21/08/2009 16:30

This thread for MN classics, please. Kittywise at her very best.

kittywise · 21/08/2009 16:31

yes, it's got ridiculous. Shall we go and find another thread

ElieRM · 21/08/2009 16:31

Oh, is she always like this?

expatinscotland · 21/08/2009 16:32

Anyone remember ? That was good!

ElieRM · 21/08/2009 16:33

snurk?

expatinscotland · 21/08/2009 16:34

Yeah.

Instead of snort.

IdontMN2makecopyforlazyjournos · 21/08/2009 16:34

God yes. I could give examples but that would no doubt be bad form.

The recent thread about the cinema was a good example.

ElieRM · 21/08/2009 16:34

expat- just to clarify,it was you on the nybom thread? present through the typing hamster episode?

IdontMN2makecopyforlazyjournos · 21/08/2009 16:35

Going straight for the bad form there, obviously.

You'll need to search for the details.

expatinscotland · 21/08/2009 16:35

i was on the nybom thread, yes. but i never namechange.

kittywise · 21/08/2009 16:37

hooray I'm famous.

no I'm not always like this, it depends on whom I'm talking to

kittywise · 21/08/2009 16:38

go on search, search

iceagethree · 21/08/2009 16:41

i know, elie, I know i'm not making sense to you

luckily it's not because i'm not making sense

knpeppa · 21/08/2009 16:46

Haven't read whole thread but - you are the employer, it's up to you to tell her what is and isn't acceptable. If you don't like her helping herself, say so. It sounds like she normally brings her own, anyway. But I don't think helping herself is unreasonable considering you did offer her a cuppa!

(Disclaimer - have never had a cleaner)

And by the way, most offices provide free tea & coffee and drinking water for their (sedentary) office workers. But cleaning is active, tiring work and cleaners should be offered drinks or allowed to drink their own at regular intervals, especially in hot weather.

ElieRM · 21/08/2009 16:46

no expat, i know you weren't the hamster...just wondered if you rembered it. as this thread is rapidly reaching those depths.
iceage- well i did quite happily concede i wasn't the brightest. i'm sure you're making perfect sense.

gypsymoon · 21/08/2009 16:49

Just like a car crash....I just can't look away....horrifying but I can't help myself ....so many emotions

pickyvic · 21/08/2009 16:50

would anyone like a cuppa while im putting the kettle on?

ElieRM · 21/08/2009 16:58

No thanks, need to crack on with the cleaning.
