AIBU Books Game Part 4

MoominMymbleandMy · 17/07/2009 19:54

Well, we made it to a fourth thread!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please.

New thread, new AIBU...

AIBU to refuse to read aloud?

MoominMymbleandMy · 24/07/2009 17:29

Ho hum, as I suspected I was thinking of the wrong hussy, Treacle. Another clue, please?

The gorilla one is "A Stranger at Green Knowe" by Lucy M Boston. Very good but made me howl buckets when I first read it a very long time ago.

...I wouldn't trust the twins to just anyone. They are very precious, especially as we thought they had died when the leader of that awful cult my daughter joined ordered everyone to take poison...

MoominMymbleandMy · 24/07/2009 17:32

Ooh, sudden thought, Treacle. Did you throw away a Bible they gave you when you left school?

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 24/07/2009 20:40

treacle, do you fancy the lifeguard?
looks at others, no ideas....

aibu to think my new shoes are absolutely magic

MoominMymbleandMy · 24/07/2009 20:56

Did you take them from a corpse, Polly?

...I can't tell you how happy I was when we discovered my daughter and grandchildren had escaped before the massacre. But for some reason she wanted me to make sure the children were away from San Francisco, so I took them on this cruise...

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 24/07/2009 21:00

nope, they just appeared on my feet

MoominMymbleandMy · 24/07/2009 21:15

Ah, so you haven't been dropping houses on old ladies then. Another clue, please, Polly.

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 25/07/2009 20:33

they appeared on my find at the end of a long journey with my little dog....

pollywobbledoodle · 25/07/2009 20:33

on my feet that is...

pollywobbledoodle · 25/07/2009 20:37

you were of course right moomin...told you i am rubbish on details!!!

MoominMymbleandMy · 25/07/2009 22:34

Oh well, that's a relief, Polly, because I've been wracking my brains to think of magic shoes!

...I think I have been very U indeed. He took the children on shore too, and he didn't come back. And my daughter thinks he may be the cult leader. Everyone thought he had died but she says he had a double...

...What Tale am I going to tell my daughter when I get back to the City...

pollywobbledoodle · 26/07/2009 20:53

ok wild stabs in the dark....moomin are the twins from sweet valley high?

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/07/2009 20:59

Hi Polly, right country, wrong twins. Mine are just four and they're called Edgar and Anna.

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 26/07/2009 21:08

no idea at all...have even googled which has done my head in!

pollywobbledoodle · 27/07/2009 11:14

off to wales for a week of swimming on the grass..'bye for now

MoominMymbleandMy · 27/07/2009 11:41

Don't forget your umbrella. Have a lovely time, Polly.

steamedtreaclesponge · 27/07/2009 12:40

Ah - no to Moomin and Polly!

My husband really wants to move closer to his mother, but I find her very controlling. He and my sons are mad about boats, but I love being in Chelsea.

Still no idea about yours though Moomin! The names are ringing a bell but you've given so many clues I'm sure I'd recognise it if I'd read it...

MoominMymbleandMy · 27/07/2009 13:51

I'm really stumped on your one, Treacle. Is there an Aga in it? Ahem, any chance of another clue, pretty please?

...It was Jim Jones who took the twins. But somehow DeDe and that Singleton woman got them back. And, thankfully, that horrible madman has disappeared. But I wonder why my maid has planted an azalea bed? She never showed any interest in gardening before...

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 27/07/2009 15:24

Right - definitely don't know yours, Moomin!

... well, now that we've moved to this old inn, things are looking better - although the twins have just destroyed my jam storeroom and I'm still in love with my husband's nephew.

MoominMymbleandMy · 27/07/2009 15:59

Hmm, you wouldn't happen to be Nadine Eliot, would you, Treacle?

AIBU to tell the barman to keep the change? (new AIBU, no twins!)

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 27/07/2009 16:38

I am indeed Nadine Eliot!

barman eh? more clues please!

MoominMymbleandMy · 27/07/2009 18:22

Super snooty emoticon for Nadine, I think!

...It isn't as though I'm going to have much use for the change. Come to think of it, nor is the barman. But he doesn't know that. Not yet...

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 27/07/2009 22:16

Evening all!

And you've done The Herb of Grace while I wasn't here, sniff! (the Dameroshay books are in my top ten but for some reason I never think anyone else will have read them!)

I know what your first is ,Moomin, but only thanks to your increasingly definate clues, and the miracle of Google,as I've never read them..

If anyone is still interested in my horrible creatures with weird names....we revere our creator, but nothing should be saddled with a name like 'Sprot Guzzlor'.or 'Progulant Glob'...

Pogleswood · 27/07/2009 23:00

So,Moomin,do you know where your towel is?
...why stop now, just when I'm hating it,as DH and I regularly say to each other...
