Well, we made it to a fourth thread!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Sorry, CJ, didn't say - Campbell's Kingdom, by Hammond Innes. Late one night I happened to stumble across the film version, in which the painted him as a cad who forcibly kissed a young lady who 'did want to be kissed, but more nicely' - ah, those halcyon days of film-making. He was much nicer in the book

No, wait, not Tom Clancy (read by Auntie's ex-BF). Still Wilbur Smith. And Frederick Forsyth. Oh dear. I'm going to be thrown out of the derring-do society

I always get 'Wilbur Smith' and 'Willard Price' mixed up. Which is probably mildly BU

Yes - which identifies me as a princess! And it grows an inch a day - or it used to, before the first time it was cut...

...No, she's just rather unfashionable. And she's not interested in boys, which can make things a bit awkward sometimes...

Not exactly - he asks me to twist it three times around a great iron hook by my window, and then jump!

And another time he tells me to cut it myself - but he speaks through an ear-trumpet...

Thought the big boat came into houses and collected the teeth! It was so implausible that I believed it It's me da's fault for having an ambiguous accent and telling me as we were travelling past a humungous boat
