as you were ladies.

I'll put mine in again. AIBU? It turns out I married my brother. It was an accident though, and I didn't get the best start in life?

salome64 · 17/04/2009 14:06

MMJ, are you ever going to tell? there must be a statute of limitations on teasing!

MrsFlittersnoop · 17/04/2009 14:07

Theyoungvisitor, I will post here instead of my thread, in deference to your superb pedantry!

MrsFlittersnoop · 17/04/2009 14:10

YABU Theyoungvisitor. While sympathising with your dilemma re. your pervy old uncle, I suspect the climate of opinion would be very cold towards your relationship with him.

theyoungvisiter · 17/04/2009 14:10

as a parallel to Maria's -

AIBU? It turns out I married my son. Also an accident, his dad insisted we get rid of him (he is very superstitious). Do you think my son/husband will be upset when he finds out?

OP posts:
theyoungvisiter · 17/04/2009 14:11

well done MrsF! I thought no-one had got it

OP posts:
salome64 · 17/04/2009 14:12

I think trouble in the offing when dh/ds meets up with his dad...could cause lifelong trauma.

salome64 · 17/04/2009 14:13

Love in a Cold Climate! love those Mitfords.

TrillianAstra · 17/04/2009 14:13

Was there a prophecy involved TYV? These things always end in trouble.

salome64 · 17/04/2009 14:13

nobodee tried mine.

theyoungvisiter · 17/04/2009 14:14

indeed Salome - possibly even a fatal accident.

(I don't know what yours is Maria - clue please?!)

OP posts:
theyoungvisiter · 17/04/2009 14:15

Yes Trillian - there was a prophecy involved and as usual the stupid old servant didn't do as he was told and get rid of the child properly - some old goat-herd interfered.

I blame the goat-herd myself.

OP posts:
salome64 · 17/04/2009 14:16

Might need loads of pychoanalysis.

Stayingsunnygirl · 17/04/2009 14:16

OK - another clue.

After ditching the housework to go boating with my new friend, and meeting his rich friend, we set off on a caravan holiday together, which was cut short by an RTA. It was this that led to the rich chap's obsession with cars - and eventually to his being sent to prison (despite our best efforts at an intervention).

TrillianAstra · 17/04/2009 14:16

Might even have to invent psychoanalysis

salome64 · 17/04/2009 14:17

TYV. Can't get decent goatherd these days. I blame the schools. and the parents. and the government. And the goats.

theyoungvisiter · 17/04/2009 14:17

arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg Salome I KNOW yours.

Please give me a clue, it's on the tip of my tongue.

StarlightMcEggzie · 17/04/2009 14:17

This can NEVER be a book, but anyway:

AIBU to think that my daughter is a spoilt little brat to have, without my knowledge, invited 3 of my exs to her wedding that cost me the earth and had people travel from long distances, only to decide at the last minute she's not that bothered after all.

Staying, sounds a bit wet, parp parp!

theyoungvisiter · 17/04/2009 14:18

staying sunny, I don't know what the original clue was, but is it rather breezy in those willows over there?

OP posts:
MariaCC · 17/04/2009 14:18

I do sometimes think I might not be the best of parents. My many children are a bit scattered, although the child I had with my DB did ok in the end.

MrsFlittersnoop · 17/04/2009 14:18

Salome, is it Wives & Daughters perhaps?
[puzzled emoticon]

salome64 · 17/04/2009 14:19

but MMJ, you said it was more literary than Trollope! Are we completely off base?

Stayingsunnygirl · 17/04/2009 14:19

You got it girls!! POOP POOP!
