Banner across the top of the cover:

"A nation mourns the loss of its brightest star"

How dare they speak on my behalf?

I'm not mourning and she was certainly not our brightest star!

Who writes this drivel? And who believes it?

diedandgonetodevon · 26/03/2009 13:18

There is a good reason I don't read such magazines tbh...

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 26/03/2009 13:18

I get really pissed off when I see adverts on cash machines saying 'the dwp is watching you'

No I'm not.

pigleto · 26/03/2009 13:18

She was OK's brightest star though wasn't she? Next you will be saying that you didn't cry at lady Di's funeral.

I don't do public grief either.

poopscoop · 26/03/2009 13:21

tdwp

(you would be disappointed if you were watching mine!)

TheCrackFox · 26/03/2009 13:21

I think it is a shame she died. But I have not been mourning, grieving etc as I didn't know her.

Whilst we are on the subject why are people wasting their money by leaving flowers at her house? They should have donated the money to Cancer Research or something meaningful.

SobranieCocktail · 26/03/2009 13:22

Do you really care? Do you really think people might assume you're "mourning" her just because a magazine has a hyperbolic headline? I'm glad I never look at the magazine section...it's clearly saving me a lot of angst.

SobranieCocktail · 26/03/2009 13:23

Kind of makes me think of the atheists who want to be "debaptised". If you don't "believe" why on earth would it bother you?

Fairynufff · 26/03/2009 13:25

A nation mourns the loss of any ability to value real talent and genuine star quality.

purepurple · 26/03/2009 13:26

why, has someone died?

MummyCharli · 26/03/2009 13:29

Is that why randoms keep coming up to me in the street, hugging me and telling me to "let it all out"?
Oh yea, they aren't because I'm not in mourning, how can I grieve for someone I never met? And no-one with an ounce of common sense would belive that the entire nation really is mourning!

KingRolo · 26/03/2009 13:31

When Diana died a 'nation' supposedly 'mourned' too but not ONE single person I knew was really very bothered at all and it's the same now with Jade. I think it's fair to say we all think it's sad that she died so young but actually 'mourning' her death? No, I don't think anyone actually is.

Yes, magazine hyperbole gone mad!

mayorquimby · 26/03/2009 13:34

but.but.but... she was the peoples princess.

solidgoldbrass · 26/03/2009 13:35

I think the 'brightest star' bit should probably have them up before Someone or other on the grounds of it being false advertising. Whatever one's opinion of Goody, she was hardly the brightest star in the UK, there being plenty of lovable, famous, talented individuals that the majority of the public would consider more famous/important/interesting than Goody anyway.

BecauseImWorthIt · 26/03/2009 13:36

So no-one's going to tell me IABU then?

OP posts:
diedandgonetodevon · 26/03/2009 13:42

'twas a valiant effort BIWI but the biters haven't spotted it yet!

mayorquimby · 26/03/2009 13:42

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 26/03/2009 13:46

Yeah you should have really put Jade in the title.

BecauseImWorthIt · 26/03/2009 13:50

Damn ...

OP posts:
mayorquimby · 26/03/2009 13:53

put "jade " "photo" maybe "disugusting conduct" and "i don't think it was all for the boys" in your next title and watch the thread explode.
maybe throw in something about freeing joseph fritzel so he can park in a m&t space and being disgusted by the site of public breastfeeding.
although i must warn you, such a thread might break the internet.

georgimama · 26/03/2009 13:53

There'll be someone along in a minute to call you "Jade Haters", just wait.

btw YANBU - I just saw this in a card shop and couldn't believe my eyes. They're still going with the black border too. Wonder if OK is going to spin out a full year's mourning - at the close of which we will get "anniversary issue - one year on" with sorrowful pictures of Jack Tweed (assuming he is not in custody).

Then about a month later he'll announce his new relationship in an OK exclusive. Yuk yuk yuk.

Rhubarb · 26/03/2009 13:53

I'm offended by OK Magazine.

End of.

solidgoldbrass · 26/03/2009 14:35

Wouldn't 'thickest star' have been a more factually correct coverline?
