Banner across the top of the cover:

"A nation mourns the loss of its brightest star"

How dare they speak on my behalf?

I'm not mourning and she was certainly not our brightest star!

Who writes this drivel? And who believes it?

She made lots of money - so that's OK then! (no pun intended!)

hello all,
becauseimworthit... im with you, on this, i thought it was in very poor taste the whole 'nation mourns its brightest star"
like most people i feel sad for her boys, and the fact she died so young, but i think its all ridiculous. the 'open' funeral. i mean what the fcuk is that all about?????
even stephen fry who i admire enormously, saying "she was a princess di from the wrong side of town"... really annoyed me. she was a normal girl who entered a reality show, played the "thick cooky girl" entered the system, made a few quid, got ill and has sadly died, that does not give her higher status in my opinion.
i am not certain, but up until she was ill, she gave nothing, or very little to charity.
the world had gone celebrity mad, its total madness.

Lulumama · 27/03/2009 14:07

I saw that headline and was a bit . but i am probably not in Ok ! magazine's demographic anyway.

putting her on a posthoumous pedestal will enable a nice rewriting of history and a year of Jade retrospectives

whispywhisp · 27/03/2009 14:14

And I do wonder if she really was that thick too....having seen her on tv I'm sure she played thick and some of the time, maybe all of the time, she acted for the cameras. And, no, I'm not being nasty or having a go at a dead woman - just giving my opinion, that's all.

Fimbo · 27/03/2009 14:43

So, who is going to the funeral then?

wannaBe · 27/03/2009 14:50

thing is, if she hadn't got ill and died she would still have been hated for the whole cbb racism row.

It's amazing how people forget... and how dying suddenly makes you a saint...

smallorange · 27/03/2009 14:51

There's a film in the pipeline now. Can't wait.

I feel like emigrating.

lucykate · 27/03/2009 14:53

i'm not a jade hater, but i do think those who are currently painting her in a glowing light should re-watch the footage of her and shilpa on celebrity bb.

bleh · 27/03/2009 15:16

They had something about her on the news on TV5 Le Monde (french language cable channel). I was Surely French people didn't know who she was?

Otherwise, couldn't care less. I know that's probably mean and callous, but I didn't know her (though I feel sorry for her sons, losing their mother so young).

matildax · 27/03/2009 15:46

i agree wholeheartedly wannabe.
she was a rather vulgar girl, when she first appeared on our screens. she has milked the system, offended thousands, yes she apologised, but i wonder sometimes if this was just to reignite interest in her and now she is being given iconic status. wtf??!!!
its sad, yes, but this is mass media hysteria, as usual.
totally crazy...
i am not anti-jade, but i think enough is enough.

mayorquimby · 27/03/2009 15:50

agree with the poster above. the apologies and trips to india where nothing more than pr attempts to reignite a career that no longer held any value or interest to sponsors or viewers

stickylittlefingers · 27/03/2009 15:53

whispywhisp - I remember when on CBB she was doing the bit after with Davina, and (maybe just because she was better advised that than one that came out of a pop group) I thought she handled it well, better than a "thick" person would, if that makes sense - so it she wasn't academically bright, she had a lot of nouse. Or Max Clifford did, perhaps, but she carried it off well.

The OK headline is utterly naff and ridiculous, and in danger of sounding sarcastic (hopefully that was not what was intended)

Gunnerbean · 27/03/2009 16:02

Not another Jade Goody bashing thread - YAWN.

FFS haven't you had your fill/got bored of those over the couple of few weeks?

Dogs with bones spring to mind.

mayorquimby · 27/03/2009 16:05

not quite yet gunnerbean, may we continue?

2shoes · 27/03/2009 16:06

oh please do

beanieb · 27/03/2009 16:07

lol Gunnerbean. Isn't it an 'OK!' bashing thread?

whispers click 'hide'

Fimbo · 27/03/2009 16:07

Gunner are you going to the funeral? (genuine question btw)

mayorquimby · 27/03/2009 16:08

no need to. it's on PPV on living.

Gunnerbean · 27/03/2009 16:11

No Fimbo, I'm not. I'm not in the habit of travelling hundreds of miles at vast expense to attend the funerals of total strangers. Why? Are you?

ninah · 27/03/2009 16:12

my money's on Jack Tweed for the Xmas top ten

Lulumama · 27/03/2009 16:14

wannabe, i have not forgotten the way she conducted herself on big brother, BUT that does not mean i am not terribly sorry for her premature death and for the fact her boys are without their mother. we will never really know what she learnt and how she grew from that experience as her life was dramatically changed by her diagnosis and then cut so short

MamaG · 27/03/2009 16:17

I once sat next to PRincess DIana's mum at DH's sister's wedding

JemL · 27/03/2009 16:18

Doesn't look like Shilpa is too bothered by it according to this

The other two were even worse, the one from SClub7 and the WAG whose name escapes me, yet they have faded back into obscurity. probably best.

whispywhisp · 27/03/2009 16:23

This is not another Jade bashing thread at all gunner - read thru the thread - you will see that a lot of the posters actually have nice things to say about her!
