I was in the queue at asda earlier having already had a tiring and stressful day. I just wanted to go home and relax. So I put everything on the conveyor belt and as it's going through I remembered something else I needed. I knew I would be able to get out of the house tomorow so I apologised and made a dash to get it. The women behind me in the queue tutted loudly and looked at her watch

Then one of my items didn't have a barcode so they had to phone through and get someone to check it. Woman behind me is getting increasingly angry.

When that was sorted I began having trouble packing as everything was just piling up in the bagging area and our Asda have a new policy of only giving you new bags when they think you can't fit anything else in the ones you have so everything was just falling all over. The woman behind me starts muttering "for gods sake" and shifting her weight from foot to foot, winding herself up.

Then when I went to pay, the card wouldn't work. First two times it said "card not accepted", we wiped it, blew on it etc etc...woman behind is practically exploding...and then finally on the 3rd attempt it accepts the card but I accidently put the wrong pin number in. So took it out, put it in again "card not accepted" tried again and FINALLY it got accepted and accepted the pin ok.

So, I'm just packing the remainders of my shopping and bitch woman behind me marches up, scoops all my stuff up and just throws it all in the trolley and said "times up, soz" my eggs were broken in the process.

A big argument erupted which I'm not proud of but the woman behind the till said she didn't blame me for saying something.

But I HATE confrontation and now feel like shit

Would you have reacted in the same way or should I have let it go to save a row?

SparklyGothKat · 12/02/2009 22:48

what a bitch!!! (her not you)

SlartyBartFast · 12/02/2009 22:49

WHAT A COW..
she broke yoru eggs
you don't need stress from other chavvy shoppers, it is stressful enough, by the sound of things.

don't feel like shit though.

2pt4kids · 12/02/2009 22:49

What a bitch!!!
I would have insisted on calling over manager to get me new eggs before she got served.

MrsMattie · 12/02/2009 22:50

I had an old woman tutting and bitching behind me in the queue in Sainsbo's the other day. She was really unpleasant and if I'd been having a bad day I would have blown my top, I think - she was that rude. Luckily for her I was feeling quite chilled

Have a glass of vino and put it down to a bad day, love!

sundew · 12/02/2009 22:50

I've had one of those days today as well. Don't feel like shit you should be proud of yourself for sticking up for yourself. I normally grumble and then moan like mad at my dh when I get home .

What did the women do?

NeedCoffee · 12/02/2009 22:51

how dare she! she could have moved to a different till, cow.

CharleeheartsherChains · 12/02/2009 22:51

What a cow, you should have nutted her........ ok maybe not but still, what a uptight bitch.

Poory JWTWO, i hope your feeling a little more calm now.

HerBeatitudeLittleBella · 12/02/2009 22:51

I'd have wanted to smear the eggs all over her face.

But I wouldn't have done. I would simply have said "oh dear, you've broken my eggs, htat means you'll have to wait a really long time while an assistant gets me some more. Soz!"

Or perhaps I would have moved all her stuff off the conveyor belt and put it back in her trolley. And then each time she put an item back on the conveyor belt, put it on the one next door!

Janos · 12/02/2009 22:52

YANBU she sounds like a cow.

Understand why you feel bad cos I hate confrontation too but after a day like that my reaction would have been the same. You can only take so much!

LuckySalem · 12/02/2009 22:52

I think that I would have reacted the same as you BUT I would have got wound up with you for dissapearing off when you had your stuff on the conveyor.

HOWEVER the rest of it I wouldn't have got naggy at you at all.

She was WAY out of line throwing your shopping in the trolley like that.

scrooged · 12/02/2009 22:53

I wouldn't let someone like this walk all over me. May she get crabs in her armpit hair!

littleboyblue · 12/02/2009 22:54

Sounds like she deserved more than a shouting at tbh!
These things happen, it's not like you intended to hold up a queue or even did anything to hold it up really. You can't control machines, and is there actually anyone out there who can successfully pack a carrier bag?
I wouldn't feel bad about it, well within your rights, and like you said, she was just winding herself up. There was nothing stopping her finding another till to queue at

TheCrackFox · 12/02/2009 22:54

She'd have been picking the egg shell out of her teeth if it had been me. What a cow.

Compared with me you really were quite restrained.

Ivykaty44 · 12/02/2009 22:55

You just have to say - calmly, that was very rude of you I am going to go home and tell 3000 other woman and a few gents on the internet just how rude you are, can I take your picture to upload with the story...

Chill with a glass of wine and think at least I dont have to live with the ole bag

NeedCoffee · 12/02/2009 22:56

lmao @ivykatie44.

dietstartstomorrow · 12/02/2009 22:59

'times up, Soz'

Cheeky fucking cow!

for you

MaplePecanPlait · 12/02/2009 23:00

hate conflict too but this was not your fault, she behaved badly and she should feel crap - not you!
Takes me a day or two to stop seething about this sort of thing so sit tight.

MenaMilou · 12/02/2009 23:01

Shop online!

I at LittleBella's idea to move her stuff onto another conveyor belt and had to read it out to dh to explain what i was laughing about!

FairLadyRandySlut · 12/02/2009 23:04

oh, well...I totally are on your side...but...if you are in a rush, things seem to be on standstill and that slow that it will be iritating...
still person had no right to be rude...but , with the story you gave us, it was pushing it a bit..just everyting going wrong and taking onger...but rememebr if in a rush...it doesw seem to be 10 times longer...

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 12/02/2009 23:06

Asda

go to Waitrose, you won't have these problems

brimfull · 12/02/2009 23:07

that's asda for ya

I want to know what you said to her .

SlartyBartFast · 12/02/2009 23:09

actually i had a nasty agument with someone in waitrose
they wre obviously daytrippers.

differentCupID · 12/02/2009 23:09

I would probably have socked her in the face done the same as you did. I hate being rushed at the checkout.

HateSponge · 12/02/2009 23:12

up to the 'times up' bit I was thinking how much the rude woman sounded like me I'm a terrible one for tutting and sighing....however I'd draw the line at assaulting your shopping

But then I did today say rather loudly 'FFS move out of the way' to a group of teenagers milling round the bus stop - in my defence

a)they were spread across the whole width of the pavement and
b) I had already said excuse me at least 3 times!

hf128219 · 12/02/2009 23:12

Yep, time to go to Waitrose
