We chose a labrador.
We live in the cuntry.
We own guns .
We wear Hunter wellies and Barbours on dog walks.

If we'd bought a little fluffy dog it would have been ridiculous.

If you don't suit your dog, maybe we could start a dog swap thread?

We live in the country - do not own a gun. Fairly hippy / boho types. Go away in the caravan alot to stone circles, that sort of thing.

We have a border collie - he is my PFB. He suits us all very well and is just another child really. Thing is - he's coming up 10 and, well...............

Things are progressing rather fast. Should we go for the black or yellow lab? Our Volvo is blue.

well apparently only the black labs are proper labs now, the yellow have been bred for colour and looks rather than purpose

but have seen some weedy looking black ones too

never mind that, thanks to bluesapphire I'm obsessed with getting this painted on to the back of my defender

Black show the dirt less - we have chocolate which doesn't show dirt either.

when did you last see a yellow lab on a shoot? I don't think I ever have

The black one is nearer and tbh sounds much nicer. Is yours a dog or bitch?

Interesting that yellow labs aren't good workers.

I v much like working-type labs, but the very stocky show/pet labs I don't like at all. There seems to be an increasing divergence of labs.

We have a very badly behaved springer, who is invariably muddy and smelly.

Live in the country.

Have very muddy estate car (windows covered in dog snot and slobber).

Don't have a Land Rover but would love one.

Wear Hunter wellies and all sensible outdoor walking clobber.

Don't own a gun, but dh does occasionally go shooting with colleagues and clients.

I look like my springer.

Dog. We do know a yellow lab that goes on shoots, but they are mostly black.

I have a rather intelligent question.

Bear with me cos this one was hard to think up.

Why is it, when my dog is playing/wants a treat/ anything else nice, he is FAMILY dog.

Whenever vets bill comes in/walkie time comes round/dog wees or poo's in the wrong place or pukes/dog needs HUGE sack of food carried miles from the car to the house, ect, he belongs to me all of a sudden?

Answers on a postcard please.

Ours is from a show line so quite stocky, but was bred to be dual-purpose (his sire has won working trial prizes) and we will be training him for the gun.
I find working line labs look weedy

Wtwcat: a greyhound. They need a couple of twenty minute runs a day, and sleep the rest of the time.

Also, there are hundreds of them, because they get bred for racing, and lots of them don't make the grade. They are lovely dogs.

I've got a black and tan medium-sized mongrel, born on the Old Kent Road.

I'm medium-sized and brown, but was born in West London, so am posher than her.

We don't have a car, but I do own green hunters.

A good match, I think.

Weedy, Tweedy?

I expect your lab combines best of both. Agree some working labs look a bit weedy.

I used to know you by another name MrsTweedy?
