I am so fucking angry. On my lunch break I parked up to run into a shop, it?s a road in the middle of town and there?s parking spaces each side of the road ifykwim, there?s not many shops, mainly residential.

Anyway, couldn?t get a parking space very near to the shop so was a bout 10 cars away from it, as I pulled in this woman pulled in beside me with her baby (approx 6-7 months old) in a car seat, in the front seat! - I thought this was completely stupid but gets better.

I went into the shop and when I came back out and was getting into my car noticed that little baby is sitting in car on his own the car is, as I said about 10 cars from the shop so not like she could throw an eye out the window to him, plus its a large shop anyway and the desk is far from the door, very busy road with both cars and pedestrians - I sat for a minute because I was worried - seen the lock up on the car so presumably unlocked so anyone could pop open the door and take the baby etc..

10 minutes later the stupid bitch arrives out with a bag of shopping.

I?m so angry. So many people out there would give their right arm to have a baby and actually take care of him/her responsibly.

grrr...

For a start, there may not have been an airbag in the front of her car.

Doodle2U · 07/11/2008 14:12

Erm, what's it got to do with you?

mayorquimby · 07/11/2008 14:14

yabu, what's it got to do with you?

Tidey · 07/11/2008 14:14

TBH, it would worry me to see a baby alone in an unlocked car too. It's probably a good thing you waited until the mother returned.

RubySlippers · 07/11/2008 14:15

Stupid bitch

save your fury for something which matters

PottyCock · 07/11/2008 14:15

i wouldn't do this myself, but it's a bit to call her a 'stupid bitch'!

BarbieLovesKen · 07/11/2008 14:16

completely agree that it has nothing to do with me but still upsets me when people dont take care of their children.

Alot of things have nothing to do with me but would be a piss poor world if we all didnt care about things that didnt "concern" us..

Madeline McCann going missing had nothing to do with me.. still upset me.

The war in Iraq has nothing to do with me.... ah you know...

OrmIrian · 07/11/2008 14:16

Isn't it amazing how some children ever survive to adulthood?

The poor woman might have been so sleep deprived she didn't even realise she'd left the car door unlocked. I did soooo many stupid things when my dd was wee just through sheer exhaustion, that I shudder to think about it now.

AND I put her cat seat in the front with the airbag disabled. I'm a bad, bad mummy.....

RubySlippers · 07/11/2008 14:17

there is nothing of concern IMO

AlistairSim · 07/11/2008 14:17

I don't really understand all the "what's it got to do with you?" answers these type of threads always get.
Don't people share some kind of social responsibility?
Would your attitude be the same if you saw someone being mugged? Or your next door neighbour was being beaten up by her husband?

Neenztwinz · 07/11/2008 14:17

Seeing a baby in an unlocked car alone for 10 mins would shock me too (and I leave mine in the car to go in the petrol station )

ermintrude13 · 07/11/2008 14:18

RubySlippers, you sound like an angrier person than the OP - she's angry at something she saw; your blood's boiling at someone's post, ffs. calm down.

Leaving your baby alone in an unlocked car is a silly, careless thing to do. You don't need to be paranoid about kidnappers to think so - what if the child got distressed and wondered where its mummy was? It's out of order.

FiveDollarShake · 07/11/2008 14:18

There's nothing wrong with putting a car seat in the front seat if there's no air bag.

BlueBumedFly · 07/11/2008 14:18

I agree with RubySlippers, but saying that, I had to have DD in the front seat to start with when she was rear facing for a number of different reasons and we paid a fortune to have the airbag changed to an on/off switch setting.

Would never have left her to go into a shop thou, I am pleased you stayed and you would never have slept if you had gone.

BlueBumedFly · 07/11/2008 14:20

Oh, I agreed with RS first post, not the one when she said nothing wrong.... sorry RS

RubySlippers · 07/11/2008 14:20

Ermintrude

I don't think i sound angry

I didn't call anyone a stupid bitch unlike the OP

I didn't post FFS unlike you

i don't think there is anything to get heated up about, but as i said that was my opinion

i fail to see how that makes it sound like my blood is boiling

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 07/11/2008 14:21

ermintrude - err I think Rubyslippers was being shocked at the OP calling the woman a stupid bitch, she wasn't calling the OP a stupid bitch!

Tidey · 07/11/2008 14:21

I think some wires have been crossed by RS repeating the 'stupid bitch' part of the OP.

mayorquimby · 07/11/2008 14:21

"seen the lock up on the car so presumably unlocked so anyone could pop open the door and take the baby etc.. "

do people think that this could actually happen?that paedophiles and kidnappers work on the same kind of opportunism as pick-pockets?

"shit look there's an unguarded baby,i'll have that."

RubySlippers · 07/11/2008 14:22

ah, yes should have clarified my post

I wasn't calling the OP a stupid bitch, i was making refernece to her OP

sorry for confusion

i don't do swearing or personal attacks

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 07/11/2008 14:23

why is everyone so OTT on AIBU? I keep opening threads where people are absolutely raging/writing that they want to kill/maim someone, and its always about something fairly innocuous!!!

beanieb · 07/11/2008 14:23

I think you are out of order calling her a bitch!

OrmIrian · 07/11/2008 14:23

Well quite mayorquimby.

Given the choice between picking up a wallet/purse from an unlocked car and a baby, the majority or dodgy characters would not pick the baby.
