Mortgage has gone up, electric has gone up, 5 mouths to feed, 3 children to clothe etc etc and month after month is a bloody struggle. Am fed up with straping money together when my husband earns a good wage and we should be able to get by! I now need to search for a way of 'me' bringing in some money but with a young baby at home and 2 others at school i am at a loss as to how! Please give me some job ideas or ways to make money!!

where in the UK are you?

that's a lot of money, IMO.

JodieO · 06/11/2008 12:05

That is a lot of money.

padboz · 06/11/2008 12:05

Do you have a lot of debts that you need to pay each month? Because you really should be able to live very well on that

glastochick · 06/11/2008 12:06

Sorry, can't really help you there as even on two incomes we don't earn nearly half as much as your husband!

Keeping an eye on this thread for any money making tips though!

nickytwotimes · 06/11/2008 12:06

Um, I get your point, but stand by for you may be flamed...

hifi · 06/11/2008 12:06

it is alot if you dont have a huge mortgage, 2 cars etc.if you do then its not.

UnfortunatelyMurderedMe · 06/11/2008 12:07

How much is your mortgage, even if its 2 grand a month that still leaves you 40 grand a year to waffle.

vonsudenfed · 06/11/2008 12:07

Agreed, we have a reasonable standard of living on a bit over half that.

But we don't live in London...

padboz · 06/11/2008 12:08

what is it that you want but cannot afford?
how big is your house, how big is the mortgage? what are you spending it all on?

AnarchyAunt · 06/11/2008 12:08

Um.

Thats quite a lot isn't it?

whoops · 06/11/2008 12:08
Hmm
BaracktorianSqualor · 06/11/2008 12:08

What things can you cut out of your monthly budget?

Blu · 06/11/2008 12:08

OK:
Give a rough list of your outgoings and see if anyone can make it work.

Do you live in London and have a mortgage? If not, it should be do-able, shouldn't it?

hauntinghippipotami · 06/11/2008 12:08

Wow, that is a lot of money! A lot of people can afford to live in this country on a lot less than that! Are there any obvious luxuries you can give up for the time being?
Do you have a huge house and can take in a lodger?
Rifle through your belongings and car - boot a lot - especially toys your dc have outgrown, Chrismas is coming and bargain hunters are out there!!
If you have a baby still at home, could you childmind?

Will be back if I think of more

morningpaper · 06/11/2008 12:08

Why on earth has your mortgage gone UP?

You sound useless with money, sorry.

flowerybeanbag · 06/11/2008 12:08

Fair enough to start a thread asking for ways of saving/making money, but you're going to severely limit the number of helpful/sympathetic replies you get by mentioning your husband's substantial salary, which is way more than loads of people on here get.

I'm not saying you aren't struggling, most people live to their means so if everything goes up, you have to adjust, but it just seems a bit unnecessary to mention the amount and won't help you get the support and advice you are looking for.

BitOfBarackyFun · 06/11/2008 12:09

I don't really understand how you can't get by on that sort of money, can you explain?

Upwind · 06/11/2008 12:09

Now imagine living on half that

or half that again...

Seriously, it sounds like you have taken on too big a mortgage.

LazyLinePainterJane · 06/11/2008 12:09

cough bullshit cough

StretchMarkCatherineWheelQueen · 06/11/2008 12:10

I did write a long considered reply, but scrap that, YABVU. A lot of people live on a lot less. Reduce your spending, or stop moaning.

misspudding · 06/11/2008 12:10

Is this a joke?

morningpaper · 06/11/2008 12:11

Please explain how your mortgage has increased

more · 06/11/2008 12:11

Lost for words really, if you can't make ends meet with an income of £65,000 a year(is that right?) then honestly who can?
