To think that people shouldn't use the *F* word on Mumsnet

No doubt a bunch of smart alecs are going to tell me to F* off but ...

Why do some MNetters feel the need to use obscene language on here? Are they too inarticulate to express themselves without foul language? I started a thread on another topic, moving along nicely then a prolific poster told us to "all f* off". Why do that on a forum that is set up primarily to be friendly and supportive?

Just leave the foul language off MumsNet.

mulanmum are you like this in rl? "carry on"?! , thanks for the permission.

Craggy · 29/10/2008 16:43

I swear sometimes. on here I mean.

I have stopped now as I cannot access MN from here if there are naughty words.

pingping · 29/10/2008 16:43

MulanMum I found your post more offensive then someone telling me to FUCKOFF.

Your a bit of a stuck up snob Maybe you should fuck off back to your one child family topic bored and let us sad pathetic people carry on bitching

pingping · 29/10/2008 16:45

LOL Craggy. Does your work block swearwords

Oh dash! Will you purleeese stop swearing?

I just got knocked off, again.

I may swear, just to see if ICT are on their toes.

Craggy · 29/10/2008 16:49

fuckers

TheInvisibleSpookDidIt · 29/10/2008 16:50

If it's 'water of a ducks back' MulanMum, why did you feel the need to start a AIBU thread on it in the first place?

(And I'm still sure I read you swearing on another thread!)

pingping · 29/10/2008 16:51

LMFAO Craggy lol.

Good point TheInvisibleSpookDidIt

SummatAnNowt · 29/10/2008 16:52

I think it should be changed to AIBFU

TheInvisibleSpookDidIt · 29/10/2008 16:53

Rofl Summat!!!

AMumInScotland · 29/10/2008 16:55

I don't see any conflict between being "friendly and supportive" and swearing like a trooper . Completely unconnected aspects TBH from my point of view.

DL what was that Thread your talking about about

Mulanmum · 29/10/2008 17:17

Dandy - yes a post of mine was deleted. Someone had asked an AIBU and I replied that she was always "whinging" about her kids. Which she was. She's a prolific poster on MN and some of her friends (if you can have friends on an online forum)reported the post and it was deleted. I queried this and, in a polite and pleasant exchange of emails with MNHQ, they explained their policy. No problem. So in theory I could complain about Pingping saying to me "Your a bit of a stuck up snob Maybe you should fuck off..." and it would be deleted. But I shan't because I think she's demeaned herself with her post.

And I totally agree with your last paragraph.

RottenOtter · 29/10/2008 17:25

I do agree with op

i DO occasionally use the f word but on mumsnet it is used in an 'i am bigger than you are 'way imo

the same with the c word

REALLY not clever

expatinscotland · 29/10/2008 17:25

This thread is so ridiculous it's funny.

Threads like this were meant to rip the piss out of.

expatinscotland · 29/10/2008 17:26

maybe people aren't using fuck or cunt or any other swear word to be big or clever, though, RO.

maybe they just want to be crude.

RottenOtter · 29/10/2008 17:28

i dont even like lmfao

i am not a prude

expatinscotland · 29/10/2008 17:29

i hate baba, LO, hun, babydancing, tickers and avatars.

but the new Pink song 'So What?' is pretty good .

Carmenere · 29/10/2008 17:37

Oldies on mn have no problem with mouthy newbies, it's the thick unimaginative and boring ones that are ruining it.

Like this nitwit for eg (mulansmummy), if she was a proper mner she would post her op, realise it was pointless and either a)feck off to netmums/bounty ect or b)realise that she is being uptight and that trying to be supercilious and patronising to a group of well educated and informed women who want the freedom to swear is pointless and she better just join in. [passive aggressive ]

expatinscotland · 29/10/2008 17:38

applauds Carmenere.

you're fucking brilliant!

Tiggiwinkle · 29/10/2008 17:48

I find it strange that someone who appears to have been around for less than a month should feel she can dictate to those of us who have been around for years.
If you can't stand the heat, and all that....

lissielouisscaredofthedark · 29/10/2008 17:52

i like using the word fuck on mn. and shitty wanky bollocking knob jockey. i dont swear in rl (especially when ds is around) so i refuse to stop on the one place i can be me and not someones mum, wife or boss. so there.
