To think that people shouldn't use the *F* word on Mumsnet

No doubt a bunch of smart alecs are going to tell me to F* off but ...

Why do some MNetters feel the need to use obscene language on here? Are they too inarticulate to express themselves without foul language? I started a thread on another topic, moving along nicely then a prolific poster told us to "all f* off". Why do that on a forum that is set up primarily to be friendly and supportive?

Just leave the foul language off MumsNet.

YABU

You can not tell people not to swear just because you don't like it. Personally, I like a good old swear every now and again.

I am well spoken and polite but every now again, particularly at work (clients can be fuckers ) a good swear is therapeutic.

blinks · 29/10/2008 12:26

My personal favourite swear words are in no particular order-

asshat
jizz
queef
cuntflaps
knobber
peener
minge

MorningTownRide · 29/10/2008 12:28

Fuck, yanbu, i fucking hate swearing myself, its damn right fucking rude, immature and inarticulate, in fact, just the other fucking day, i was only fucking thinging to myself, how fucking thick people must be to have to use the word 'fuck' pardon me fucking french, its not like they must have gone to University or owt if they have to fucking swear, they must 'chavs' or summit. I never fucking swear.

rebelmum1 · 29/10/2008 12:52

Agree it's sentiments and not the language you have an issue with sometimes there is no better word than an F word to sum up ones thoughts ...

pingping · 29/10/2008 12:57

PMSL! Lmfao what a great thread LOL! at Ghostyfucker and C u next tuesday

pingping · 29/10/2008 13:01

LMFAO VT I have only just seen my thread. My Mum speaks just like that fuck is every other word she is not a chav thou she is from the country side

filthymindedSixSixSixen · 29/10/2008 13:02

Ghosty! Finally, someone noticed...

pamelat · 29/10/2008 13:18

I think you should only swear if you would swear in the real life version of that situation (I never do, except to my DH).

I find it overly aggressive on here, its often applied where the person doesn't deserve to have it said to them.

VinegArghhhWasStabbedInTheTits · 29/10/2008 13:24

I dont usually swear in rl, but i do on here, i like the way 'fuckoff' looks in text, i dont say it in rl because i doesnt sound right coming from someone a ladylike as me

I love the word Arse, i say that in rl

'Oh Arse, i just dropped my knickers'

tonysoprano · 29/10/2008 13:26

fuck off

pingping · 29/10/2008 13:31

LMFAO VT.

I do swear but it just slips out plus I swear alot at work because the customers that call are fucking hard work so I have to put them on hold let it out and continue my calls

RantinEminor · 29/10/2008 13:42

where did mulanmum fuck off to?

Beachcomber · 29/10/2008 13:43

I nominate Filthymindedsixsixsixen for quote of the week.

Sliding cunt into a thread that complains about swearing and NODODY NOTICING until about 30 posts after surely has to be celebrated somehow?

Beachcomber · 29/10/2008 13:46

Am also loving 'windfucker'. It is my new favorite word, am going to try to get it into conversation as often as possible.

OrmIrian · 29/10/2008 13:51

Personally I favour 'wankstain'. It's my favourite driving word.

WhereWolfTheWildThingsWere · 29/10/2008 13:53

According to op mn is a 'forum that is set up primarily to be friendly and supportive?'

Noooooooooo that's the problem mn is a forum set up primarily to house a nest of judgy vipers.

Who like to swear if the fancy takes them.

TheDuchessOfNorksDied · 29/10/2008 13:55

Since having children I've given up smoking; getting drunk; laying in bed half the day; having sex wherever and whenever I want; and swearing in the DCs presence. I would definitely flounce if MNHQ replaced my prized expletives with random symbols.

jumpingbeans · 29/10/2008 13:55

What "f" word..... formula

pingping · 29/10/2008 13:57

Fuck me Jumpingbeans you made me LOL!

VinegArghhhWasStabbedInTheTits · 29/10/2008 14:00

Pingpong - you put them on hold and 'let out'

I would put them on hold and 'go for a shit' or have lunch or something

VinegArghhhWasStabbedInTheTits · 29/10/2008 14:01

opps sorry i mean pingping
