So my sister bought me tickets to see a dance show and I was telling someone at toddlers that I didn't think I could go as I can't express and DS is b/f.

She only went and offered me some of her expressed milk from the freezer, I'm not joking!!! I didn't know where to put myself, lol!

Muttered something about giving the expressing another go, freak!! I knew she was a bit weird, I'm 99 per cent suire she still feeds her 4 yr old DS, but this is beyoned the pale isn't it?

I'd offer you mine, but as you can see it's all gone*

FiendishFairyFay · 24/10/2008 20:20

I think using another Mum's breastmilk for your prem baby is very different from using it so that you can have a night out.

I agree that she is not a 'freak' but I stand by saying that i too would have been 'shocked' at the offer being made by someone who isn't a close friend, at a toddler group.

So if it's lifesaving it's ok, but if it's just kindness, she's a freak and it's eewww? Glad that's all sorted, then. Hope the poor woman's not a MNer.

slackrunner · 24/10/2008 20:21

I think that it was a kind offer, however I wouldn't personally accept it as the milk wouldn't have been screened for diseases that could be passed on via breastmilk. However, I don't think that this was the concern that you were expressing was it ?

SparkyFartDust · 24/10/2008 20:22

Well I am more intriged by this 'dance show.'you were going to.

Is Lionel Blair making a come back?

thisismynewname · 24/10/2008 20:22

Exactly slackrunner, it could be diseased!!!

OP posts:
gingertabby · 24/10/2008 20:22

how strange you find it odd.
you must have ishoos

poor you.
loser

slackrunner · 24/10/2008 20:23

that wasn't my point thisismynewname, and I don't think it was yours either was it?

SparkyFartDust · 24/10/2008 20:23

gosh you sound lovely.

Habbibu · 24/10/2008 20:23

Ah. That's what you were thinking, was it? That's why it's eewww? So if you knew for a Fact that it wasn't, you'd have considered the offer?

ToThrottleABlackBird · 24/10/2008 20:26

Your comments are disgraceful and you really ought to be ashamed of yourself!!
Fair enough, her milk has not been screened but she certainly is not a freak for offering.
You really are beyond a joke. Pathetic!

exasperatedmummy · 24/10/2008 20:27

Trip Trap!!!! FFS what a freak - thats YOU not the potential donor, oh but hang on, this is a troll isn't it.

Slackrunner does make a very good point though - i would kindly refuse if this was offered to me, simply because of infection issues. With the best will in the world, it is still the exchange of bodily fluids so might carry risk with certain viruses, i would assume that donated BM is screened or the donors are screened at the hospital.

This isn't an issue with cows milk though because that is pasteurised, is that right?

I would only have a problem because of that issue, i certainly don't think the woman is a freak.

I suspect we might see the OP back later saying "can't believe i sucked you all in"

thisismynewname · 24/10/2008 20:28

Who is Lionel Blair? It's this one

OP posts:
no1putsbabyinthecorner · 24/10/2008 20:28

Trip Trap exactly what I thought

thisismynewname · 24/10/2008 20:29

Oh hello Lucyellensmum, did you get the job?

OP posts:
WigWamBam · 24/10/2008 20:30

It's milk, not bloody arsenic.

You don't want it? Fine. But don't insult her for offering, or for extended breastfeeding.

She sounds very sweet. You don't.

PuzzleRocks · 24/10/2008 20:30

I don't think this is a troll (151 posts), just a genuine ignoramus unfortunately.
Can I be taken seriously as angry whilst wearing a witches hat?

fishie · 24/10/2008 20:32

thisismynewname. are you a bit pissed and lonely?

"99% sure she stil feeds her 4 yr old ds" well let's stone her to death quick. nearly corrupted you too!

sherby · 24/10/2008 20:32

I can see why it would be odd considering you didn't know her, but your tone is very rude and I'm sure you know that saying 'I knew she was a bit weird' and mentioning her feeding her 4yr old son would not get a good reaction here.

purpleduck · 24/10/2008 20:32

LOL snowleaopard
Thats what I thought!!!

If it been hanging around in the freezer fo the last 3 years, then yes, its weird

otherwise it is kind.

OP, how old is your LO - can he have formula for a night?

thisismynewname · 24/10/2008 20:32

Alright, alright, I concede it was nice of her. But still, ewwwww!

Glad I've never asked her to babysit, she'd probably just latch him on!!!

OP posts:
ToThrottleABlackBird · 24/10/2008 20:32

Funny how she is ignoring other posts

callmeovercautious · 24/10/2008 20:33

You really are quite odd. here you are being all pro BFing then you make insulting comments on another thread.

Ignorant hypocrite.

ohIdoliketobebesidethe · 24/10/2008 20:34

Would you have felt differently if it was your sister offering?
