yes the "hero" bit..I have a car, but cycle to work, return trip about 14 miles, oft in the rain and the feckin' freezing cold...my lady considers it to be of Beowulf proportions as an epic, and finds it very attractive , as compared to a nice wuzzy, airconditioned softies effort.....if it pleases her, it pleases me too.

How many of you, in a couple where you both drive, find your DH/DP ends up being the "default driver"? Is he happy to be driven by you?

A friend tells me that, when she drives her DH to the station (she goes on to work in the car so it makes sense to drop him off) sees legions of men driving themselves to the station and their dutiful wives getting out of the passenger seat, walking round to see them off and then getting in the driving seat only once he has gone. This seems unnecessarily complicated. Obviously their macho pride is hurt by the thought of wifey driving them.

I still find it interesting that a lot of assumptions are being made here about "laziness" and so on. There are all sorts of reasons why people may never have learned to drive.
