fuming mad at school photos

i go to a follow school which means there is an infant/nursery school, junior school and secondary school that are all next door to each other and have the same name e.t.c and every year when the school photos take place and the siblings from any of the 3 schools can have pics taken together e.t.c.

but me and my little sister (im secondary shes infant) can have our photo taken but not with ds (whos in nursery) and yet my friend can have her picture taken with her little brother who is in nursery

reason being that my ds is not my brother

AIBU or are they just sticking REALLY CLOSELY to the title "sibling photos"

i probably am being unreasonable reading that back...

yanbu, sounds daft to me

VinegarTits · 22/09/2008 21:56

Sounds like a stupid rule, who makes these things up, dimwits.

Ronaldinhio · 22/09/2008 21:56

yanbu
threaten them with the newspapers

Aitch · 22/09/2008 21:56

agree with CS

ethanchristopher · 22/09/2008 21:57

they are being wankers.

make a fuss.

MadBadandDangeroustoKnow · 22/09/2008 21:57

Schools are very keen on 'policies'. They probably haven't got a policy on 'parent and child' photos. Lobby them until they adopt one.

Bonkers.

Who is saying no?

BibiThree · 22/09/2008 21:58

Am I reading this correctly? You are in secondary school and have a son in nursery?
Are you a young mum or am I reading it all wrong?

And yes I think it is unreasonable. they are being v petty.

oh yes, tell them you will go to your local paper - who will probably love the story - though whether you WANT to be publisised is another matter - hopefully the thread would work.
well - take it up with the school first rather than going straight in with threats.

ie that you will go weeping to the newspapers...young mum done good, just wants a photograph with her littleun and being cruelly denied
not exactly inclusive or conducive to your feeling welcomed

PootyApplewater · 22/09/2008 22:01

tell them you want the group shot of all three of you, or no photograph at all.

sale, or no sale.

their decision.

HonoriaGlossop · 22/09/2008 22:01

They might not want to encourage anything positive about you having your ds so young ethan. I just wonder if they think that having school photos done of mother/baby almost 'glamorises' the idea of schoolgirl parenthood. I don't know - I could be being a little over-cynical but I just wonder.

ethanchristopher · 22/09/2008 22:01

im a young mum bibithree gave birth at 14

we got given the letters last monday to fill in for what photos we wanted and i put down me sister and ds, it got handed back to me TODAY (photos are tomorrow) saying sorry no can do ds is not a sibling but me and sis can have a photo

so i went to speak to my tutor, then my headteacher, then the nursery head teacher and all 3 said sorry its the policy that its siblings only, we cant make an exception for you because then people would be wanting to have photos with their sibling and their siblings friends e.t.c i was like WTF is hardly the same

but as photos are tomorrow i dont know what to do, maybe just turn up with him in tow lol

i think i might get my mum to ring in. as i am one of two mums in the whole school and one of them is preggers and hasnt given birth yet.

i can understand it if they think i would be glamourising it which is why i thought i would be being unreasonable

OP posts:
ChasingSquirrels · 22/09/2008 22:03

presumably it is not the school that takes the pics, but an independant photographer? turn up with ds and sis.

SmugColditz · 22/09/2008 22:04

That is just ridiculous.

Ask them to put their reason in writing, for future reference....

hughjarssss · 22/09/2008 22:04

I agree with Honoria. And if that is the case then I agree with the school.

ChasingSquirrels · 22/09/2008 22:04

glamorising it ffs - as if!

VinegarTits · 22/09/2008 22:04

Thats outrageous, for you
