Shocked that no one helped the girl on the train

14 year old SA in trained

I am being unreasonable in think people need to stop being so absorbed on their phones whilst out in public. It seems no one helpped this child whilst she was being raped because they were too busy on their phones.

Autistic girl, 14, 'sexually assaulted on train by Afghan migrants'

Baryalai Rahimi, 25, and Mirebadurahman Sadat, 29, are said to have spotted the runaway teenager at a station in rural Kent before following her onto the London-bound train on February 5.

When Zara Aleena the young woman was raped, brutalised and murdered by British Jordan McSweeney, do you think he was civilised?

When a Sikh woman in Birmingham was raped by John Ashby and called a 'fucking Muslim bitch' as he raped her, and made her say Hallelujah, do you think he was civilised?

The problem is men. If you convince yourself that only men from certain ethnicities are the problem, then you are doing women a disservice,

Edited

Terrible that our own men are raping women. All the more reason to stop others coming, isn’t it?

No point have 100 British rapists and then welcoming other foreign nationals to join them.

What about the thousands of British men that go to south east Asia to rape and abuse ? Should we keep them here?

Yes Italy is rather famous for harassment of women…

I’d rather live in neither country, or Thailand, or Vietnam etc for obvious reasons where child abuse is so out in the open and tolerated

I actually know a young woman who has moved from England to Italy (and yes after Brexit) and absolutely loves her life there. She's been all round, she went for studies, loved it and now has a job there and absolutely loves Italy and the life she now has.

British men and European men aren't all saints but on average they tend to be a bit better.

In the summer in London, Amsterdam, Budapest, Berlin you can probably wear a crop top and short skirt and nothing will happen to you. You do the same in Kabul, Mogadishu or Khartoum and you're gonna get attacked almost certainly. And there's a reason why. Some men are worse than other men.

Are you kidding me? You’re clearly making up things now.

Since the age of 12 or so I’ve been harassed and abused by men in Uk - and I’ve never worn a crop top!

Violence against women and girls is endemic, systemic and a threat to society on the same scale as terrorism in the U.K.!!!

Good for her. I enjoy everything about Italy except for the sexism and harassment which is very, very real.

eg: The document summarizes findings from a report on street harassment experiences of women in Rome, Italy. It finds that the vast majority (79%) of Italian women experience their first instance of street harassment before age 17, with over half experiencing groping or fondling in the past year. www.slideshare.net/slideshow/italian-women-street-harassment/129837933

So are hundreds of millions of Muslim going about their daily lives with no hijab or not?

I mean yes they are .but they are committing a major sin (which I've said multiple times). What are you going on about?

Suspected of rape? But not actually convicted of rape.

Sounds like this thread where people are saying immigrants are 'raping all day every day'.

Oh this. But then there's a paper of convictions and still elevated rates.

VAWG exists in the UK but it is less than the levels in Afghanistan, Somalia and Sudan

Yes let’s compare U.K. to some of the poorest, most deprived countries in the world

Ridiculous comparison

and it doesn’t simply ‘exist’ in the U.K.

She completely loves her life and feels very very safe and finds the local Italians to be very helpful.

I'm not gonna say there's no issues but Italy is a better place to be than the third world.

Both can have problems. The data show they are not the same problems at the same scale.

I am comparing them. VAWG in those nations vastly exceeds what we have in the UK (which is still an issue).

Do you deny this basic fact?

We are frighteningly aware of how many horrible, scumbag, white British rapists there are. It's not a competition. We have enough of them. And these are ones brought up in a civilised society where they are well aware of how wrong rape is. Why the fk would we welcome in hoards of men from uncivilised societies who believe this is a perfectly normal part of life. To rape and beat women? Especially without checking and verifying exactly who they are, and whether they already hold criminal records or are known to be dangerous.

It has nothing to do with being white, brown or black. And everything to do with coming from an environment where it is commonplace to beat and rape women. An environment where they are taught that western women are less than, and deserve to be beaten and raped because they don't cover every inch of skin and hair.

There needs to be a lot more integration work done with migrants whose native culture is dissimilar to our own, especially with respect to attitudes to women and girls, violence and consent.

Unfortunately, a frightening number of our home-grown men and boys need this too. I believe that pornography and the manosphere have a lot to answer for.

Norwaygirl · Yesterday 23:52

Holidayhooha · Yesterday 18:43

Hard agree - white men rape too is the ultimate whataboutery. We know they do, too many of them, they are criminals and deviants. Why add to their number by bringing in undocumented males from a society where rape is not even widely seen as deviant?

Yes totally agree with both comments.

So are you saying we should never have tourists in the country?

Are we giving tourists free accommodation and spending money now?

or anyone coming here for work

Perhaps we could ask the people coming here for work to apply for a visa and produce ID before we let them through border control. Might be a good idea.

What does free food (or lack thereof) have to do with being a rapist? What does having ID have to do with being a rapist?
The pp said that foreign rapists shouldn’t be here, I was pointing out that of the millions of tourists and workers who come into/through the U.K. many of them are also rapists. So if the issue is foreign rapists, then we shouldn’t let any foreigners in in any capacity and then we get no foreign rapes.sorted.

CakeAndEats · Yesterday 23:59

TheOriginalEmu · Yesterday 23:49

We’d all starve to death. but yeah, why not.

You can allow tourism and immigration but you can vet and have restrictions and checks. You can have cap on immigration and well and have restrictions depending on country of origin

Fluffyblackcat7 · Today 00:14

ThreadGuardDog · Yesterday 20:43

While we allow men who regard women as no more than shit on their shoes into the country of course it’s relevant.

The damage that rapists and abusers do to their victims is the same wherever they abusers come from.

Racism and migration issues are red herrings. Pulling up our drawbridge isn't going to save us from our home-grown rapists and abusers, is it?

Violent pornography and the manosphere have a lot to answer for and we need to do more as a society to counter that.

We need to put more into screening and educating migrants regarding our cultural attitudes to women, violence and consent.

We need to do the same with our homegrown predatory males too. Schools have a role to play with boys, as well as Police and the courts who need to root out and come down hard on domestic abusers, flashers, upskirters and the like, take them out of our houses, off our streets and re-educate them at His Majesty's pleasure.

Let's focus on how society can remove the threat of sexual violence and how we as individuals might support someone in an abusive situation.
