Shocked that no one helped the girl on the train

14 year old SA in trained

I am being unreasonable in think people need to stop being so absorbed on their phones whilst out in public. It seems no one helpped this child whilst she was being raped because they were too busy on their phones.

Autistic girl, 14, 'sexually assaulted on train by Afghan migrants'

Baryalai Rahimi, 25, and Mirebadurahman Sadat, 29, are said to have spotted the runaway teenager at a station in rural Kent before following her onto the London-bound train on February 5.

In what way is Islam worse than Christianity for women specifically?

Would you rather be a woman in the most bible belt of bible belt states in the USA or Afghanistan?

Also look at Italy, the home of the Roman Catholic church but such an amazing country and nice to be in

Well the amendment to the law in Iran which allows girls from the age of 9 to marry isn’t too good for a start.

The Vatican (home of the Roman Catholics) is the only country in the world where women aren't allowed to vote.

Apotofrealcoffee · Yesterday 21:48

Islam never really underwent a renaissance in the way most other religions did. Islamic countries are basically bottom of the pile for human rights, women’s rights, civil liberties.

The Vatican isn't a member of the UN in its own right.

Also I've actually met some lovely happy nuns in Rome. They are absolutely so lovely and full of joy.

What does the UN have to do with it?

So nun habits good, hijabs bad? There are many lovely and full of joy women who wear hijab too.

You think we should refrain from reading, working, listening to music or napping on trains and all be on watch duty in case of sexual assault?

YABU.

Exactly this!!

Even if no one was looking at their phone, it’s very unlikely that anything would have come across as odd.

She got onto the train with them and was chatting to them - so to anyone else, they all knew each other and she was ok.

I just don't understand everyone saying it's normal for no-one on the train to have batted an eyelid. The racial discussions have completely taken over this thread, but if you put all that aside, this girl was 14 and one of the men over twice her age. It wouldn't have looked like a normal couple. I just don't see the harm in having a discussion about how and why this wasn't flagged up in order to stop it happening over and over again. Aren't we supposed to look at all angles of a situation like this so we can do our best to prevent it from happening again.

No, she didn't. She added her experience. That's allowed.

Yes and she was in that way trying to dismiss the other persons experience which she did so in her next post.

Based on the provided report from the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention (Brå), individuals born abroad (foreign-born individuals) have the highest adjusted relative risk of being suspected of rape.

The lack of attention bothers me. People just zoom in on their phones / books etc and like to zone out to anything that is remotely uncomfortable.

This is a 14 year old girl who was being led to the toilets but two much older men, ofcourse people should have noticed and said something

I’ve travelled on trains recently. People are walking up and down, getting on and off constantly….
I would think nothing of a group of people of all sexes and ages walking past me in the narrow isle, and I wasn’t on my phone once as was preserving battery… 2 adults and a teen exiting the carriage at the same time would not have raised any suspicion as I’d have assumed they were all just merely getting off the train at the same stop or just heading in the same direction.. if I heard her say ‘I don’t want to go with you’ then yes I’d stand up and create a scene, but if they were all friendly or not talking at all then no I wouldn’t stand up and accuse strangers of being rapists.

Child marriage should be banned worldwide.

Several US states don't even have a minimum marriage age, meaning a minor of any age can theoretically marry with judicial or parental approval

Thing is a woman chooses to be a nun and to wear a head covering. In islam the hijab is mandatory and forced for ALL women. They "choose" to wear it because they mentally have the idea that if they don't wear it they'll be punished by god. If there was no spiritual gain or punishment do you think they'd wear it?

No, she didn't. Adding one's own experience doesn't negate someone else's.

I really don’t think most people would glance at your average 14 year old and your average 28 year old on the train and immediately assume sinister.
The idea that you can blame commuters and passers by for what the man later did in a confined and private space is crazy.

Lol what? Have you never seen Muslim women who don't wear the hijab?

How did you even type that with a straight face?

Are you a man or woman? No woman would type something so ridiculous.

Watch the link I posted. Do you think anyone could force Fatima to wear a hijab?

Muslim women who don't wear the hijab are committing a sin in their religion

No, the Qu'ran doesn't mandate the hijab, it's up to women to decide for themselves.

Suspected of rape? But not actually convicted of rape.

Sounds like this thread where people are saying immigrants are 'raping all day every day'.

Sorry, you're right, you didn't say import, other posters have. But 'they have to come here' seems to imply that they are being brought into the country. But they're not.

It absolutely does not mean anyone is "importing" them. Funny how you demand others be perfectly accurate but it's fine for you to make "mistakes" - ones that back up your beliefs. Because you agree I didn't say that but you go on to suggest that's what I sort of did say all the same: It isn't.🙄

You're ignoring all the data from the Swedish government then?

I said 'they have to come here' implies they are being brought in.

If you disagree with that interpretation, you can clarify that.

And it's not fine for me to make mistakes, I said sorry for putting 'import' in quotation marks.
