Shocked that no one helped the girl on the train

14 year old SA in trained

I am being unreasonable in think people need to stop being so absorbed on their phones whilst out in public. It seems no one helpped this child whilst she was being raped because they were too busy on their phones.

Autistic girl, 14, 'sexually assaulted on train by Afghan migrants'

Baryalai Rahimi, 25, and Mirebadurahman Sadat, 29, are said to have spotted the runaway teenager at a station in rural Kent before following her onto the London-bound train on February 5.

Oh please🤣 another lefty that’s found 1 person to big up their claim against Reform!

come back when you have more than 1 case and of evidence to back up your hysteria. Like, 533 cases of rape and SA, which is what the number is of foreign national cases against women in the UK since 2024. 533 that needn’t have happened. Yes, some might’ve been her through the correct channels, lots won’t.

She’s not lying and yes it does come across as you dismissing it otherwise you wouldn’t need to be claiming about your experience.

So she’s allowed to talk about her experiences because it fits with your narrative but I’m not allowed to say mine because it doesn’t??

We’re either allowed to talk about our own experiences or not - it’s not fair to only allow some people to talk about their experiences but when you mention your own, you’re accused of being dismissive as others.

This thread is literally about a girl who was raped on a train and no one intervened and whether that was acceptable or not - half of the posters care more about turning this into a thread about immigration or Muslims than about the poor girl raped and commuters responses - yet apparently I’m the one dismissing people’s experiences.

She didn't say her experience was the only one.

it might look a bit odd, depending on how old everyone looked but I think it's unreasonable to expect people to interrogate every "couple" together in case it isn't consensual.
the going into the loo together, obviously suss but that's possibly the only thing anyone might have noticed.

she said herself, she didn't (know how to and was too s Ares to( say no. she sat on his lap. she didn't (cos she was too scared to) resist or draw attention to it.

the people at blame here are the two men, and whoever is in this poor girl's life / past that taught her saying no would get her hurt.

Exactly this!!

Even if no one was looking at their phone, it’s very unlikely that anything would have come across as odd.

She got onto the train with them and was chatting to them - so to anyone else, they all knew each other and she was ok.

Afghan migrants seven times more likely to commit sex crimes than Britons
Foreign nationals account for one in seven sexual offence convictions, including rape, according to analysis of Ministry of Justice figures

Published 27 October 2026 4:10pm GMT

Afghans are seven times more likely to be convicted of sex crimes than Britons, analysis suggests.

The research showed that people who described themselves as Afghans accounted for 409 sex offences – or 0.39 per cent of the total – during a 15-year period.

The analysis by The Economist focused on the three years from 2020 to 2022, the most recent for which data were available.

The research showed that people who described themselves as Afghans accounted for 409 sex offences – or 0.39 per cent of the total – during a 15-year period.

409 offences over 15 years is not enough data to form a view on. Statisticians would laugh you of the country if you used that as your bas.e

Considering there are 200,000 sexual offences reported every year.

Well they are hardly likely to be Pakistani and Christian are they, given that the few Christians left in Pakistan tend to be attacked and killed by mobs. So very peaceful and tolerant...

No, but I know a lot of Pakistani atheists/ agnostic people.

In what way is Islam worse than Christianity for women specifically?

Emilesgran · Yesterday 21:31

nomas · Yesterday 21:03

But it means you're not comparing like for like, therefore the data is unreliable and meaningless.

But we're not doing sums here - it may not tell us whether the increase will be 2% more rapes or 20% more but it does tell us that bringing young single men into the country increases the numbers of rapes that will take place. In fact that's literally the "explanation" you've just given!

So the question is why is the safety of girls and women not as much a factor in deciding immigration rules as any rights the young men might have to come here as well? Don't women and girls have any value in your eyes? If they do, then imo anything that we know risks increasing the numbers of rapes needs to be justified by better reasons than "Well the young men wanted to come here".

GeorginaWilby · Yesterday 21:32

A Muslim immigrant may completely misread a woman's clothing through their cultural lens. They come from a society where only specific types of women dress, what they view as provocatively in public. There's a good chance they might mistakenly assume she is sexually loose, a sex worker, or actively seeking male attention. Her presence might be seen as an invitation.

For example; I was born and raised in England. My people have lived in England and Wales for hundreds of years, although I have lived in the U.S. for near 55 years. I'm still very much an Englishwoman. I live and breathe England still. The England as I left it.

What I'm trying to say is; moving countries doesn't change the way you think and act. It doesn't change your culture.

Maybe they thought the girl on the train was 'up for it' or worthless & disposable because she was all alone, or not covering up enough in their mind. Leaflets and lectures are NOT going to change that.

Meanwhile, I'm sitting here wearing a tweed skirt, a blouse, cardigan and sensible shoes, because I grew up in the 1950's England. I've even changed this area to resemble my 'natural habitat'. Many decades ago I planted English oaks, beech, maples, etc to resemble where I came from. It's not easy as I live in a dry hot climate, so I have to irrigate.

Where and how we grew up remains with us for life, believe me.

Would you ban British white men - god knows how many, we aren’t talking small numbers - from going to abuse children, teenagers and young women in Vietnam, Thailand etc? Because surely keeping them here would mean a HUGE surge in rapes and assaults and abuse at home.

So because you live opposite a mosque, you can identify Muslim men via their voices?

Maybe offer your services to MI5.

Ok maybe it's not relevant that I lived opposite a mosque and I cannot be absolutely sure that a voice belongs to a muslim man but I can be 99 percent sure. It's almost gaslighting behaviour to imply that I can't recognise the accent of a Pakistani/Bangladeshi man. Do you also think that I couldn't recognise the accents of the 10 percent of British men who wanted a 'massage'?

Actually I was wrong that most of these men were Pakistani. Apparently the majority of muslims in Cambridge are Bangladeshi. But you must concede that they do have a very similar accent (to English ears anyway) and it's not relevant because 92 percent of Bangladeshis (in the UK) and 94 percent of Pakistanis are muslim.

There's also the fact that there was a shop across the road staffed by mostly Pakistani/Bangladishi men (and if you remember they are almost all muslim). They were very excited when I said I was working as a massage therapist and wanted to book. I was very naive at the time and sort of went along with it although they didn't actually book.

I'm not discussing this anymore. Look at what's happening in Sweden and look at the precautions Denmark are taking to make sure it doesn't happen there.

The current Reform UK MPs are:
Nigel Farage – Clacton (Party Leader)
Richard Tice – Boston and Skegness (Deputy Leader)
Lee Anderson – Ashfield (Party Chairman)
Sarah Pochin – Runcorn and Helsby
Danny Kruger – East Wiltshire
Robert Jenrick – Newark
Andrew Rosindell – Romford
Suella Braverman – Fareham and Waterlooville

But yes, 1.6 is better than 1 I guess🤣🎉

I think you've made a lot of assumptions. I don't have any issues with limiting immigration if that makes sense for the UK economy. I'm not an economist, so will leave them to debate that.

But no one is 'importing' asylum seekers into the country. That's just Tommy Robinson speak.

The UK has signed up to the ECHR and therefore is obliged to to follow its rules. You can't blame people asylum seekers for seeking asylum.

So why don't people use their time more effectively and campaign for the UK to leave the ECHR instead of making ridiculous posts that immigrants 'are raping all day and every day' (to quote a poster upthread)?

In what way is Islam worse than Christianity for women specifically?

Christian countries don't use a literal interpretation of the bible for family law on divroce, inheritance etc, so even if the two religions were equally misogynistic, the political aspect of Islam makes a huge difference.

But regarding the religion, christian men can't divorce their wives just by saying "I divorce you" three times (while no equivalent exists for women to divorce their husbands) and women do not automatically inherit a smaller proportion from their father than their brothers do, for starters.

The lack of attention bothers me. People just zoom in on their phones / books etc and like to zone out to anything that is remotely uncomfortable.

This is a 14 year old girl who was being led to the toilets but two much older men, ofcourse people should have noticed and said something

No, they were walking through a train. As countless people do together of all ages throughout the journey. You are just making up what you need to fit what you want to think.
