James Acaster? No….

I keep reading about how ‘all women’ fancy him since watching him on traitors. I don’t get it. He’s not funny (on or off traitors), he’s pasty (not pale, pale is cool), was an absolute coward in the mission on the show and fucked his team mates over, and above all of this, is seemingly devoid of any interesting personality.

For those who find him attractive, please explain

They had to pause filming when they were at the round table because James Acaster had some kind of melt down. The editing will appear strange because of this.

From now on the producers should only cast people who would be happy to be a traitor if the situation arises. James A. really should have accepted that he wouldn't be able to cope with the lying and deceit and never gone on the programme to start with.

Amol Rajan would have been much more fun as a traitor instead of the wet blanket James A.

That's not what his book says. He might not actively go to church but he certainly hasn't rejected it or the community.

Not that there is anything wrong with it but I personally would find it a huge ick.

I’ve watched loads of his stand up where he references it a lot. He has spoken openly about no longer practicing or identifying with Christianity.

He addressed his loss of faith directly in his stand-up comedy work, notably in his 2015 live show Represent, where he used the conceit of serving on a jury to channel and process his transition away from his childhood Christian faith.

In interviews he has confirmed he is no longer religious, while still occasionally drawing on his upbringing for comedic anecdotes and reflections on morality.

Yes the editing was odd, I think they did the best they could. It was leaked in the media a while ago he had a panic attack at one of the round tables, and they had to stop filming, and I suspect it was that one.

it looks like Michael made the accusation, he had a panic attack, they stopped filming and the producers agreed he could do his big confession and leave.

it’s also been leaked he had panic attacks before in filming it and complained about rob and romesh as he felt their humour was picking on him, which they were horrified about, as that’s not who they are

hes clearly went on for the money and couldn’t mentally cope, any one who knows the show knows you can be a traitor or a faithful and needs to be prepared to do both,

what annoyed me was when I watched traitors uncloaked and he was giving it how he’d basically made the show better, as the final was now going to be so much better , as if he’d not then the traitors would have been a sure fire winner.

he was also saying how he was caught fair and square etc, he wasn’t, they hadn’t even voted yet, and may have voted for maya or someone else.

so he completely spun it to him saving the final and helping the faithful, which I felt was horrible, fair enough not to wish to say you had a panic attack, but he could have just said I was caught, it was me or the others or something, but to big himself up was not ok,

He’s tall, got nice hair, a good jawline and brow bone… plus he seems clever and kind.

That said, my fanny clamped shut when he bottled it on the shield task.

Yes!!!!!

The fact he couldnt even take his mask off to face the other traitors!!!!

im sure he did it for the publicity, to help his comedy profile to get more money,. Being a multi millionaire doesn’t mean you don’t want more,

Nah, he really didn’t need the fame or the fortune because he’s already very successful in both these areas.

Like a lot of them (Stephen Fry, Jonathan Ross) he just wanted to play the game - but not as a traitor.

Yeah I’m not sure, there is no way that man didn’t know how mentally difficult it would be for him.

for me I suspect he had a very very significant impact on the show due to his mental health, these won’t be the first panic attacks he’s had, the complaining about others won’t be new behaviour.

his behaviour will have impacted all of them, the panic attacks, complaints etc, maya made a mistake picking him as a traitor, she clearly didn’t know, but even when he was a faithful he was having panic attacks and complaining according to leaked reports.

WhatterySquash · Today 09:05

Totally agree the way they all voted him off quickly without any comments, then all said nice things about him and acted as if they’d “caught” a traitor, must have been agreed on as crisis management because he wasn’t coping and they couldn’t react like they really would have (like with Richard where they all discussed it and went WTF etc).

it makes you realise what a good selection the celebs were for the first series and how they picked people who were up to it. James a himself, his agent or the producers should have been able to rule him out on the basis of not being up for being a traitor. But then I suppose it’s difficult with celebs, there’s a lot of ego, image management etc. and maybe they’d assume that actors and comedians who put themselves out there can understand the concept of making a show work and being under a spotlight, but maybe that’s not always true.

im still gutted that Amol was out first and we didn’t get to see him play the game - if they’d ditched James a and recruited Amol at the start it could all have been so much more interesting. Amol was the celeb I was most excited about watching on CT as he’s so clever and funny. But at that stage the traitor celebs might not have known much about either of them.

Yes. But…is he funny? I’ve literally never seen him be funny. Looking pasty and perplexed seems to be his go to

What have you watched him on? I've seen him being very funny on, for instance, Would I Lie To You?

Fortuity · Today 09:23

Soontobe60 · Yesterday 16:58

Don’t be obtuse - he’s laughing about it because he thinks anyone who works on the HP series are bad faith actors selling their souls to further their careers. All three of the men in that clip are laughing at a woman because they don’t agree with her stance on women’s rights. Otherwise, why was the subject even brought up?

It's really clear they are laughing at the actors, not JKR.

Violetparis · Today 10:24

He's spoilt the ending. Surely the faithfuls would have kept him in knowing he was a traitor and voted for someone else they were suspicious of. I think they felt obliged to vote him out.

This! They are at the stage now where the people that go out don’t say if they are traitor or faithful so surely knowing he is a traitor they would have voted for someone who they weren’t sure about and got rid of him next as they don’t need him to confirm if he is traitor/faithful as they already know.

Amol should have been the traitor and had the chance to play instead of James A. It would have been much more interesting for someone who was going to relish the role,

MintTwirl · Today 10:47

And if we are talking about fancying them, I would also pick Amol over James A. Attractive and intelligent!

Who ever goes poppadoms over bread though

Goldenbear · Today 10:48

His humour is a bit niche, off beat so originally, especially if you are around his age and understand his references, the people interested in his shows/podcasts would have seeked him out. The Traitors is not that audience and I would imagine his humour is not understood by many- i.e."he's not funny" and they are resorting to commenting on his looks, something, presumably as he isn't an actor going for a James Bond kind of role or a model, where these things are relevant to the job, he didn't ever expect to have them scrutinised.

Can you give any examples of him being humorous in this series? I'm pretty sure I've not simply missed him being funny.

Many do it for the game without necessarily needing the money but I imagine they don’t give the 40k away so… That’s always a plus side, especially for the ones kicked out at the start!

I like James A. People with autism can often have a strong sense of justice and integrity. He was always explicit in not wishing to be a traitor. I think he should have declined the offer and allowed himself to be murdered. I guess he thought he could still help the faithful as a traitor though I’m not sure how. He’s a decent bloke.
