I keep reading about how ‘all women’ fancy him since watching him on traitors. I don’t get it. He’s not funny (on or off traitors), he’s pasty (not pale, pale is cool), was an absolute coward in the mission on the show and fucked his team mates over, and above all of this, is seemingly devoid of any interesting personality.

For those who find him attractive, please explain

I honestly think they have decided he is "sexy" to make traitors more interesting, there is nothing much happening so let's focus on the guy in a cloak!

I have children his age so he isn't for me, but he is just an ordinary looking guy.imo

Me thinks he doth protest too much. I am always VERY wary of people who tell you what they're like, eg "I'm just too honest" "I'm just terrible at lying". They're usually the most dishonest, compulsive liars you'll ever meet, and that's why I'm not a fan of James A.

He's autistic.

distinctpossibility · Yesterday 09:03

He is very like my husband who, like James Acaster, is autistic.

I think that's where the comments about him being aloof / rude come from. I think he seems kind, intelligent and a good laugh.

I've never liked James Acaster since he was so rude to Alex Horne on Taskmaster - never said hello or acknowledged him when doing any of the tasks.

Perhaps it was meant to make him look cool or edgy but I just thought he seemed like a twat.

I've had no reason since to alter my opinion!

100%.

He was a right sulky knobhead on Taskmaster.

Youhadrambledonfor18pages · Yesterday 09:04

Does he? Where does he say that? Certainly not in that clip.

PistachioTiramisu · Yesterday 09:05

I had never heard of him before Traitors so I have no idea what kind of humour he engages in; however, yes I do find him attractive (but I do like blond men!), but if I found out that he engaged in crude type humour, I would go right off him.

Lomonald · Yesterday 09:06

I just googled him he is older than I thought ! Still not for me .

Sherararara · Yesterday 09:13

Are you saying that any behaviour is acceptable as long as the person is autistic?

Well as I didn’t say any of that it would appear that it’s you saying that.

BruachAbhann · Yesterday 09:20

I was going to say that I found him a but dull before but have no time for him after hearing his views on women.

Ah, this was my impression of him. I thought he seemed nice at first, but feel that he wouldn't have much of a backbone having seen him on traitors. And there was something overly judgemental about him ( I do see the irony of me saying this:-) . I predicted he would fall on the 'bekind' side without much critical thinking put in on his part as to why he would take that view. I could still be wrong but that video would indicate I'm not.

I like him and find him funny , I always did . I never noticed a lisp. Not my type so don’t fancy him but I like him as a comedian. And yes he is autistic.

James Acaster has never confirmed he has autism.

This, I assumed he has autism or ND by the way he is. He is great on would I lie to you and has some really funny stories.

He’s an absolute twat. Why any woman would find a man who thinks women’s rights are a joke attractive is beyond me. What he looks like and how he sounds is irrelevant. His views on women’s rights is clear misogyny.

Oh god he’s loathsome isn’t he.

OP posts:
TheFormerMrsTruelove · Yesterday 09:32

I used to think he was quite funny, but now I think he’s just another common garden misogynist who doesn’t have the desire to examine how his opinions are completely at odds with each other, just so he can claim to be an ally to all.

WhatterySquash · Yesterday 09:51

Never thought he was attractive but seeing on traitors has made me actively annoyed by him. He comes across like a whiny 10-year-old who relies on his peers for his decisions and tastes but won’t do his bit. Kenny and Maya were sooo pissed off.

Maybe ND has something to do with it but plenty of ND people are not like that at all (think Cat Burns on previous CT) and not everything is down to that. He’s showing the familiar signs of a weak-minded wokebro who’s not really sure what he thinks or why and has very little sense of responsibility.

OTOH I would come across as a rude cow if I was on traitors as I’m an introvert and terrible at small talk. Some people maybe just aren’t cut out for it and will never come across well. But then I know that and wouldn’t do it!

He's one of these 'also ran' comedians like Milton Jones. He's completely meh in both looks and entertainment value.

Whoever picked him and Richard E Grant to be traitors should get their jotters, both have made this series virtually unwatchable (such a contrast to the first series, which was amazing). Who in their right mind has the likes of Romesh and Rob available, but opts for Acaster? Bizarre.

Milton Jones is absolutely brilliant.

I don't fancy him, but i do really like him and he would definitely be a cool friend

ZippyPeer · Yesterday 09:58

QuietChristmas2026 · 28/10/2026 23:37

For me, he comes across as a really safe person, very thoughtful, someone who would reserve any opinion on anything until he has thought about it and weighed up the pros and cons, someone who, even if you split up, he would be excellent about it and not have even a hint of twatty behaviour over it. I cannot imagine any woman anywhere saying ‘I went out with him years ago and he wouldn’t hand my stuff back’ - not saying that my impression is correct but that is definitely my impression of him as someone who has never seen him in anything, ever.

They are very very attractive qualities. Like, really attractive qualities.

Plus - does he have a lisp? I’ve honestly not noticed. But it wouldn’t mean anything, if he is how he comes across, then he’s ✅✅✅ lisp or not.

Haven't read the full thread, but oh my word you can't have seen his stand up. One of his shows is entirely about his ex girlfriend. It's very very funny but I really wouldn't want to be her.

It’s so interesting the different view points, I think he’s the antithesis of cool, one of the least cool men there is,

This is exactly what I was going to say.

Also to the PP who said they'd never be able to fancy Stephen Graham, no worries there as I'll happily have him. Broad scouse accent and all!

And I reallllllyyyyy recommend listening to Stephen's episode of Off Menu where he and James have a "disagreement". I had to pull the car over as I was laughing so hard.

The girlfriend who ran off and had a baby with Rowan Atkinson? I saw that show live too and it was hilarious.

I was going to say that I found him a but dull before but have no time for him after hearing his views on women.

Where in this clip is there any hint of misogyny? He said they had JKR on their podcast and paid her and they know where that money is going (ie to women's refuges) without any trace of sneering. They also said it's fine to have different opinions without cancelling people, which is a very sane, balanced and unpopular opinion these days.

I don;t find him sexy at all, but have always had a soft spot for him, mainly because he reminds me of a dear friend from childhood who was autistic, and partly because he reminds me a little bit of DS who is autistic in a similar high functioning way with an off beat humour.

SerendipityJane · Yesterday 10:27

Surely we can forgive a man whose girlfriend left him for Mr. Bean ?

He’s saying he doesn’t agree with her on safe spaces for women then suggests the money she gets is being spent on sniffing cocaine. Prince

I genuinely didn't see either of those comments in the linked clip - was that in a longer extract of the full show?

He doesn't have a lisp, not that that's a measure of how attractive someone is in any case.

I don't find him attractive, but he's not unattractive. He's normal-looking, maybe that's the appeal - he seems like someone you might work with or have gone to school with.

There are certainly a few speech things going on. He can't pronounce his 'r's for one, but I think there's something else as well.

Personally I don't find him remotely funny.
