It’s 3 days, not 3 months! Some people are clueless and thick

Live opposite a couple with their teenage son. Yesterday as washing up, looked up randomly as you do. Saw the three of them carrying 4 packs of 24 rolls EACH! So 288 loo rolls. So are they going to use 1 and a third rolls each per hour in the 72 hour period? Or around 4.5 sheets per min.

God there are some very thick people about

Why should a Rainbows’ leader be teaching the 3 Rs

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle? Ever heard of it?

HoraceCope · Today 08:43

i am not sure loo rolls are on the emergency list
the loos may well not work/flush.

Oakdodger · Today 08:43

Maybe they're just bulk shoppers anyway. My family goes through a 24 pack in a week, do I often buy multiples.

Arregaithel · Today 08:43

"God there are some very thick people about"

surely, only if the rolls were 3ply and quilted!! 🙃

Timefortruths · Today 08:44

Toilet rolls don’t go out of date!

KiwiGolden · Today 08:44

Well, just before the covid lockdowns I ordered a a bulk load of loo roll as I had been watching a lot of stuff online and thought it may be wise to do so, everyone laughed at me but they weren't laughing when the toilet roll shelves where empty at the supermarkets and they had to get buy on limited amounts.

As an IBS sufferer I really can't be doing with low stocks of bog roll.

Why don't you do you and let your neighbours do what they want to. And how lovely to call them thick.

namechange62 · Today 08:45

Farm Foods do a deal exactly like this.. I often (well.. every 6mths) buy that many loo rolls. It's a brilliant deal and it's actually good quality loo roll..
EDIT: I then reread it and saw that they ALL had the deal.. crickey.. that's a lot of loo roll..

HoraceCope · Today 08:45

just before i had my third dc i bought a huge pack of loo rolls, my neighbours laughed

Fortuity · Today 08:50

Why assume they are thick? As people have said, they may simply have come across a good deal - I know Asda do deals occasionally on big packs of toilet paper. And why assume they are only buying for three days? I know the advice is about stockpiling for three days, but what is wrong with going beyond that?

user1471538275 · Today 08:51

Not sure about 3 year supply.

1 loo roll per person per week - so 288 would do a family of 5 about a year

user1471538275 · Today 08:52

I'd live in fear if I only had 3 days worth of loo roll in the house

Just one toilet disaster away from doom

user1471538275 · Today 08:53

They've probably just read 'The Mandibles' - that will send anyone scurrying for the loo roll.

hobbledyhoy · Today 08:53

Sherararara · Today 08:35

That’s what I thought. Whatever happened to teaching the 3 R’s?

She’s a Rainbows leader, not a teacher.

Happyjoe · Today 08:54

I just had 36 loo rolls delivered - and would've had a lot lot more if Waitrose allowed more than 4 packets! Their own brand loo roll is the only reason I get anything from there and would happily buy a 100 or so at time to save me the bother.

Sherararara · Today 08:55

hobbledyhoy · Today 08:53

She’s a Rainbows leader, not a teacher.

Who should surely reinforce good practice?
or does she Rainbows handbook say you can do what you want as your aren’t a teacher?

Gengha · Today 08:55

LlamasDramas · Today 08:21

At least you know your neighbours won't be the ones ransacking the shops for toilet paper if disaster arises!

Better to be prepared than not. They sound sensible. You sound more thick than they do with your judgement.

What’s “sensible” about buying 300 toilet rolls?

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · Today 08:56

I have loads of food already enough for three days. Worse case it’s chocs crisps and biscuits for a day. It won’t kill us. People are strange?!

Please read the news occasionally

This was a bit unpleasant. I’d say that one thing that we all should do is limit how much time we spend reading the news. The rolling 24 hour news cycle doesn’t do many people very much good.

PickAChew · Today 08:56

Sure they did.

Namemechangey · Today 08:56

I had a toilet roll subscription just before Covid hit and had 150 rolls in the house… only as we weren’t using as much as the subscription was sending and it was building up… but guess who felt very smug as she watched people scrabble up the hil to the supermarket near her house at first light of dawn….
if you have the room, what’s the issue?

MintTwirl · Today 08:57

We always bulk buy loo roll because we have the room to store it and it’s a great price when you buy in bulk. Let’s face it doesn’t tho out of date and will get used!
When everyone else was clearing the shelves during Covid we were already had plenty and have some to family.

LBFseBrom · Today 08:57

HoraceCope · Today 08:16

i expect they had a deal
it is not nice to call your neighbours thick

Yes, I thought that. I've always stocked up on deals when I can.

How awful to live next to neighbours who notice what you buy.

Hankunamatata · Today 08:59

Is that the reason I can't get my 'who gives a crap' loo roll in tesco at the moment

Oldbaglady46 · Today 08:59

At least you know where to go if you run out….
