It’s 3 days, not 3 months! Some people are clueless and thick

Live opposite a couple with their teenage son. Yesterday as washing up, looked up randomly as you do. Saw the three of them carrying 4 packs of 24 rolls EACH! So 288 loo rolls. So are they going to use 1 and a third rolls each per hour in the 72 hour period? Or around 4.5 sheets per min.

God there are some very thick people about

OP posts:

We’re a family of five. 48 rolls of loo paper lasts us 6 months …

Theyve got enough loo roll for three YEARS 🤣

At least you’ll know who to kill for toilet paper when the end days come.

I’ve put some tinned mandarins on my shop this week. I don’t normally eat them. Am I thick too?

I was going to say OP will know who to buy it from but I guess that also works 😂

HoraceCope · Today 08:28

i keep looking at the tinned fruit, i used to buy value fruit salad when my dc were very young.

HoraceCope · Today 08:28

perhaps they will ebay it op?

notanothernamesurely · Today 08:29

you might be the thick one ….. they might all just be dressing up as mummies for Halloween 🎃

Someone probably thought the same of me with my toilet rolls this weekend but I was buying some for my Rainbows to wrap each other up as mummies for our Halloween party. Then it gets torn up and reused as snow at the Christmas party!

Im sorry but this is a collossal waste - are you just binning it all? You'd be better off buying cheap bandage rolls that can be reused.

ValleyofHumiliation · Today 08:32

DH is something of a prepper so we always have food, water and other provisions in reserve. But yeah that’s a lot of loo roll.

LadyBugOut · Today 08:32

One thing you WILL be doing for the rest of your life OP, is having a daily sh*t. And one thing loo rolls won’t be doing, is coming down in price. I’d befriend them. They may help feed you in the coming nuclear winter.

ChuisEpuisee · Today 08:32

Sherararara · Today 08:27

Nothing. As I am already prepped and always have been. For more than 3 days. 3 days is basic household management and shouldn’t even be something people need to be told to do.
Wait for next year when the government update the advice to a week.

So you're already prepped, but you're just annoyed at other people doing it now?

Also, I don't know if the responses to a couple of threads on here are a very accurate measure of what people are actually doing. A) how many people responded to say they were rushing out to buy sardines? 10 max?? B) people make stuff up.

That’s just what I was thinking.

OP, the loo rolls might be for an event - not necessarily stockpiling.

sweeneytoddsrazor · Today 08:33

Well I work in a supermarket and have to say I have seen no evidence of people stockpiling. Everyone seems to be buying their normal shop plus a few bits for Xmas which is perfectly normal for this time of year.

PinkyFlamingo · Today 08:34

What's 3 days? Why assume we all know what you are on about?

BitOutOfPractice · Today 08:34

PensionPuzzle · Today 08:27

I mean once the end days come then money will have no meaning. Big roll will be the only currency then.

sittingonabeach · Today 08:34

Who has space for 288 loo rolls?

Discosnake · Today 08:35

Erm, you don't have to be thick to grab good discount. 😬
We get massive numbers when ours is on offer.... So they may not be necessarily panic stockpiling

That’s what I thought. Whatever happened to teaching the 3 R’s?

ToadRage · Today 08:36

I swear my husbands cousin eats the stuff. Its become a bit of a running joke in our family. She stayed with us for a few weeks and I couldn't believe the rate we went through it. Almost a roll a day. I still have no clue what she was doing to use it up so quickly. We tend to buy it in bulk from Costco but we have caught the stockpiling bug yet.

newrubylane · Today 08:37

That's at least a three year supply! It doesn't matter what kind of deal they got, that's a ludicrous amount of toilet roll. Where will they store it?

Sherararara · Today 08:40

I’m annoyed at people’s inability to consider what they actually need and will actually use over those 3 days and instead rush out to buy the wrong stuff eg wind up radios, food they won’t eat, a million toilet rolls…as I said, critical thinking has gone out the window as evidenced by the huge number of panicky threads on MN over the last few days.

Spidder · Today 08:40

We but toilet roll from Costco. So you might only ever see us with huge amounts. In fact, if you judged us by it Costco haul, you'd think we live on toilet roll, waffles, washing pods and cat food.

Weeellokthen · Today 08:41

3 monthly costco visit, perhaps 😂

Why should a Rainbows’ leader be teaching the 3 Rs

Prekoc2 · Today 08:41

HoraceCope · Today 08:16

i expect they had a deal
it is not nice to call your neighbours thick

Clearly buying nearly 300 bog rolls which they probably don't have room to store is the action of a highy intelligent person.

And also, while we're not "being kind", I think all the preppers who make such a bloody song and dance about how clever they are with all their infernal prepping, and appear to make it their sole hobby, come across as complete idiots as well.

x2boys · Today 08:41

What have i missed?
