To think Meghan Markle isn’t the problem, it’s Harry?

WryJadeWren · 21/10/2026 15:54

I don’t understand why Meghan is so often treated as the driving force behind everything people dislike about them, while Harry is portrayed as some helpless man who’s been led astray.

He’s a grown man with his own opinions and the ability to make his own decisions. It’s his family and presumably he has far more history with them than she does. Why is the assumption that she’s manipulated him, rather than that he has his own grievances and is doing what he wants?

You don’t have to like Meghan to recognise that Harry is responsible for his own behaviour. I actually find him more irritating, particularly the impression he gives that everyone else is responsible for his unhappiness.

AIBU to think she gets a disproportionate amount of the blame, while he gets far too much benefit of the doubt?

Some utter lunatics have convinced themselves that the Sussex children are actors, that Meghan was never really pregnant, that it's all just part of her pathological lying / sociopathy / whatever. It's properly deranged

I’ve seen it in comments on Daily Mail/Express Facebook. I hoped that isn’t what the poster meant. Isn’t it awful? I thought it was bots so it’s shocking to see it here. I think there’s a racist element too because (from the few photos) the kids are auburn haired and it like people think it’s not possible for mixed heritage kids.

I think it’s pretty inconceivable that she had no idea who he was before she met him and had limited knowledge of the Royals. I say this because I’ve met people from various different countries who all ask me about the RF and my views on them for some reason. I was speaking with Chinese and Indonesian students just the other day about them and they knew lots of details including Prince George starting at Eton. If people from China and Indonesia know of Prince George, I believe most from the US knew Harry before he married Meghan.

Harry has a low IQ and I honestly think he’s naive and vulnerable. I read Spare and felt sorry for him though it was very woe is me throughout and he didn’t often acknowledge his immense privilege.

She was friends with Beatrice wasn’t she, so it’s total bollocks.

anyone seen the headline in Daily Fail re Thomas Markle with child abuse photos? Here we go … might explain why she cut contact !

Funnily enough my husband said maybe that's why she cut contact with her dad. Makes you wonder what actually happened when she was young.
Having said that I still think she was probably the worst mistake of Harry's life. He's not innocent but she seems to be a real piece of work.
As for her being pregnant, how many times did your bump fall to practically your knees in pregnancy?

He was left hanging high and dry by HaM ( H couldn’t even be bothered to meet him) M couldn’t be bothered to go see him and get him out of Mexico.
The press duped Daddy Markle - he’d had a lot of ‘bad’ photos taken by the press so when he was promised a new set of photos would show him in a better light he jumped at the chance.
Both MaH were very well aware how the press worked - they should have protected him. He didn’t fit M’s new persona and there was no way she was having him at the wedding. She’s very determined if she’d wanted him there he would have been there!!
A red flag is when you have one member of your family at your wedding of hundreds and hundreds of people - she hadn’t even met OW or the Clooneys and they were there!

What do you think of him with today’s news? Does that change her decision to step away from him?

Tbh, I’m already sick of the years of Meghan & Harry doing these fake royal walkabouts where they have pre-screened crowds giving them flowers & Meghan gurning when she’s a trashy briefcase girl.

Harry was a much loved popular royal before Me-again entered the scene. As Me-Gain had already fallen out with her family, she immediately set about her Narc rules of isolating dim Harry from his much loved family & hissing poison in his ears & slagging off the UK & all its heritage & history. Harry lapped it all up & believed the witches brew.

when William is king can’t come fast enough, then William will issue patent letters & get the titles and succession removed.

Incidentally, I think the non-bio Markle kids will also be insufferable. Expect lots of sexy magazine covers from Lilli, Fake diplomas from Archie and generally cringe boasting bragging by the Markle kids as they aggressively try to out-do their cousins.

Harry was never a “much loved” royal

If you think it's normal or sane for family members to be curtseying to each other then your reality is so far off base that I don't think delusional goes far enough.

Of course it's not normal to be curtseying to each other - but this is the Royal Family with hundreds of years of tradition. That doesn't mean they deserve to be ridiculed by the daughter in law publicly. That's out and out betrayal....and that on top of the Oprah interview where she told lots of obvious lies. How you can defend this nasty piece of work is utterly beyond me.

I think Kate would consider that she has an amazing life, far beyond what 'ordinary' women could ever aspire to.

She's one of the most famous women in the world, travels the world in total luxury, choses if she want to cook/clean or get staff to do it, meets world figures and celebrities, has the ability to get involved in projects/charity that can change other people's lives, never has to worry about money, has a beautiful home, designers want to dress her, she is always protected and has the highest class of medical care for herself and her family, and in addition she also has a beautiful family and is close to her extended family.

She's intelligent and seems like a genuine, decent person to me. Polar opposite of the other one.

Plenty of 'ordinary' women get married, have kids and are chained to the kitchen sink at the mercy of their husbands, even today.

Really? You couldn’t pay me enough to live that life. Having every move in public scrutinised by “body language experts”, never being able to just go for a nice day out with the family, never being able to choose what you do outwith the strict confines of what is acceptable. Every occasion is photographed, monitored, dripping with protocol. Never being able to put a foot wrong. She couldn’t even have treatment for cancer without doing what everyone else wanted her to do.

Travelling in luxury and having staff wouldn’t remotely make up for that. I’d also have to wonder, if there wasn’t already a royal the media could target and be mean about, whether the press she would get would be different. If they hadn’t been able to do the deal they have with the press, would she be seen as the angelic figure they paint her as. It would be really easy to put a negative spin on her. One “wrong” move and she could bring the royals into disrepute.

Wasn’t she ridiculing herself?

How long have you known her well enough to make that judgment of her character? Or is it all based on tabloid press?

Details are sketchy/timeline unclear - letter to Met was months after wedding so she’d done with her Dad already. by then. I still don’t believe she ever wanted him at the wedding.
H claimed in Spare years after wedding that H was reason she didn’t have relationship with Dad anymore - so what does that mean?? .
Tbh I don’t believe a word of what any of them say without clear evidence - by that I mean all Markles and HaM too - even today’s statements.
It’s all horrific/messy/almost unbelievable!

I’ll wait and see what’s under the next stone.

She clearly didn’t want him at her wedding because he’s not a very nice man.

Just because she didn’t know about the allegations doesn’t mean that until they all came out he was a model father. If it were any other woman people would be feeling for her and hoping that she wasn’t a victim growing up but because it’s Meghan it’ll somehow be her fault.

🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Yes she was ridiculing herself. She made that perfectly clear in the Netflix documentary. In no way was she taking the piss out of the queen

I wouldn't be surprised if it hadn't crossed Harry's mind that not all women automatically know how to curtsey appropriately. And I agree with the comments that curtseying to family members behind closed doors is weird as fuck. Meghan thought Harry was kidding when he told her about it

IceLollly · Yesterday 19:55

The issue with the ridiculous curtsey is that you can’t take the piss out of something but then expect to be part of it. If she thinks the RF is a silly outdated institution, fine. Stop getting people to call you by a title and I’m guessing, actually wanting others to curtsey to her.
You are either in or out. She was either the queen and it meant something, or if it didn’t, then you aren’t a duchess.

No that's just your opinion. You don't KNOW.

He’s her puppet and she’s getting every
drop of royalty/PR out of him, along with her scheme to marry him, as she can before she fucks him off for the next loaded muggins … but exceptionally rich people tend to be more conniving than her even .., if that’s possible!

Harry was one of the most loved royals, he certainly was one of mine. Now I just feel sorry for him. He isn't very bright and therefore she has been able to manipulate him and control him. megahn is certainly the worst person he could have ever met.

@Norwaygirl I think his public image was carefully crafted by the so-called men in gray suits. Whether he was really that public persona, we'll never know.

At 42, he does come across as immature for his age, which is a real shame.

Nope. Not based on the tabloid press whatsoever. I had every sympathy for her in the beginning precisely because I don't base my opinions on news stories that can be just made up bollocks....and I didn't blame her for leaving the RF to go to the US (in the beginning). THEN I watched open-mouthed as she spouted all these obvious lies on the Oprah interview and the scales fell from my eyes.

She absolutely WAS ridiculing the Queen, taking the piss with the "medieval times" comment. If you can't see that you're not grasping the basics. ...and the look on Harry's face said it all.

It is a ridiculous concept though? Not QE2 herself but the notion of curtsying, walking out room backwards etc would seem preposterous wouldn’t it? I’m not usually a fan of USA culture but I can see why someone might giggle when presented with some of our archaic ways.
