To think Meghan Markle isn’t the problem, it’s Harry?

I don’t understand why Meghan is so often treated as the driving force behind everything people dislike about them, while Harry is portrayed as some helpless man who’s been led astray.

He’s a grown man with his own opinions and the ability to make his own decisions. It’s his family and presumably he has far more history with them than she does. Why is the assumption that she’s manipulated him, rather than that he has his own grievances and is doing what he wants?

You don’t have to like Meghan to recognise that Harry is responsible for his own behaviour. I actually find him more irritating, particularly the impression he gives that everyone else is responsible for his unhappiness.

AIBU to think she gets a disproportionate amount of the blame, while he gets far too much benefit of the doubt?

You think he doesn't need security? Despite the fact there's currently a Mumsnet thread tearing him and his wife apart? He's not ordinary. Kate is also not ordinary because very few women would accept devoting themselves entire to being a completely blank slate with no ambitions beyond fitting into a pre-defined mould that went out of date in about 1830.

She isn't a blank slate at all its ok to be quieter you dont have to go in all mouth almighty trap everlasting in this day and age her ability to listen and be sympathetic sets her apart and that is okay she doesn't need to scream and stamp look at meeeee! Because they already are

Absolutely, if they don't want to be mocked then they should stop acting so ridiculous. Of course ranking family members in order of importance and then insisting they you curtsey to the more important people is going to cause massive psychological issues. Harry and Meghan are the only evidence that anyone in the Royal Family is capable of any kind of love. Kate and William have all the warmth of an AI bot romance novel.

Come on. Don’t be silly. Massive psychological issues?? I hardly think they’ll be putting themselves forward for therapy based on having to curtsy to random family. And it’s doubtful that happens anyway. I’m guessing for example it might happen if in front of the King, but not if in front of a William and Kate. I mean, can you imagine a room full of members of the RF and at each initial greeting you have to curtsy but only to those ranking above you. It would be farcical and hilarious fgs.

You don’t know her. You know nothing of her ambitions or what she does behind closed doors. You’re trying to compare her with Meghan, who always has a camera conveniently positioned on her whenever she does something for those poor under privileged people. People aren’t stupid - they see her. We all know what she’s about because she tells us who she is, or who she wants us to think she is. Some people don’t need to promote themselves so shamelessly.

I don’t think it’s been the picnic MM was expecting. There’s the RF…..how on earth do you ever fit in with that lot easily or quickly? I mean she is an American and a divorced American at that! Nothing wrong with that, but the ‘firm’ like its new entrants to be docile, biddable & preferably squeaky clean. And she had a voice, which wasn’t appreciated at the Palace. I think she arrived thinking they’d been waiting for her, she’d sort things out’, liven things up a bit. Sorry Meghan, but we do it our way. She was expected to tow the line, instead of pulling it.

Then she has Harry with his mental health problems, & that can’t be easy. I thought she’d never return to the UK, but she has, to keep him happy maybe? She has an unpleasant habit of falling out with people, and imo opinion overdoing especially the jewellry. Less is more Meghan. Both of them strong personalities. I do see her now as hanging on, being a duchess is way too important to her to give it up, despite it all not having been the easy ride expected. Just my take on it, and I could be sooo wrong.

I agree with you.
Also I hate how she just has to hug people when the camera is on her.
As if to say 'Look at me hugging normal people'.
It really does come across insincere.

I don’t see why either of them are “a problem” but I do think a lot of the narrative surrounding them is incredibly misogynistic. And I don’t see why she is to blame for Harry’s / the couples’ choices

I think that is exactly what they had to do when The Queen was alive, and yes it does sound farcical but they still did it. I would hope Charles has put a stop to it.

He only spectacularly turned on his family in the most public of ways after he married her.

She has a history of falling out/ turning on those close to her, including her own family.

That faux curtesy she did while being interviewed was awful. Mocking his gran. The look in his eyes. Regret. He's stuck with it now.

It's not helped by the fact there's a Suits episode she was in before meeting Harry where she did a perfect curtsey so she knew how to do it!

Endorewitch · 22/10/2026 17:32

We all know this!!Noone is disputing this. But most of us would not write an autobiography slagging of our relatives. We would keep family problems private. And the choice of the Queen's pet name for their child, after ev3rything they said about the RF,is a bit cheeky.

I think they are both as bad as each other. Self centered and completely out of touch with real people with real problems. Most people are currently facing a cost of living crisis!
I am sorry that Harry lost his mother at such a young age, in such tragical circumstances, but so have many other people, lost loved one's at a young age, they get on with their lives and do not go on about it or their mental health!

His latest privacy video is all about reconciliation, what about reconciliation with Mr Markle, doesn't he deserve some kindness and the chance to meet his grandchildren? Harry can't just pick the best bits that suit his narrative. Quite frankly he needs to grow up and shut up. We are all fed up hearing him moaning about how desperate his life is. He could make a real difference if he really wanted too. If him and his wife were sincere, people would respect them both far more.

As for their children, all the public want is to see is an occasional picture of them, not the backs of their heads. When you consider these children are in succession to the thrown, it's not a lot to ask. William and Catherine manage this without any great dramas and with grace.

I am sorry, but I have no time for these lying, selfish, self centred grifter's. I am sick to the teeth of seeing them in the news every day, it's all nonsense news with no substance. I wish they would just go away, enjoy their privacy and stop trying to upstage our royal family !

But Mr Markle hasn't met lots of his grandchildren and most of them have gone NC with him. Although he only seems to care about the royal grandchildren.

Is seeing a private citizens children pay per view?

Have you seen the vitriol online about those kids? Apparently they rent kids out for photos OR they used a surrogate OR they're photoshopped/AIed into photos. Apparently Meghan has a secret love child who is now an adult and then had a hysterectomy because her father/sister/brother/ex-husband/gynecologist said so (although there's obviously no footage of this). People post zoomed in pictures of their hair, feet or random other body parts to compare and declare that the kids don't exist. They criticise that they have bare feet or that their hair isn't immaculately presented. I wouldn't want to post pics of my kids for the vultures online to disesct and pick over.

Is she, though? She seems to completely underestimate others, thinking the public won’t notice her preaching about the environment and then taking private jets, for example. And if she was intelligent, she’d have taken steps to keep her nastiness out of the public eye, like going to visit her dad when he had his leg amputated. She’s shown her true awful self in many ways, so I’m not sure she is that bright after all.

Maybe she saw Charles, William and Catherine preaching about the environment then taking private helicopters and assumed she's be treated the same way?

Autumnalhibernationisthedream · 22/10/2026 17:55

It’s the idiot public, not either of them! Pick any person at all and follow their life with a microscope and you’ll find something to judge/ bitch about/ feel holier than thou over

It's not meghan or harry, it's the other two, if you stand them side by side it's obvious who are the stars, and willy and his missus can't have that, there can only be one first couple, I'm afraid, it's how monarchy works

Given the amount of random conjecture and tabloid speculation being bandied about by Megan haters I will give my penny worth.

I think a lot of people forget how appalling William treated Catherine when she was his girlfriend. He strung her along, then dumped her and then when no one else was interested hooked her back. She didn’t seem to get a warm welcome by some of the family and Harry seemed to be the only one (of that generation) who seemed friendly towards her. They seemed to have a warm relationship. William is definitely a cold fish. He seems dull and rigid.

When Harry fell head over heels for someone new it set the cat amongst the pigeons and put noses out of joint.

YankSplaining · 22/10/2026 19:00

Oh, dear. You learned the term “one-drop rule,” and now you think saying a woman with a black parent is black is the same thing as segregationists demanding that blonde “quintroons” use the “colored only” drinking fountain. And how dismissive of Doria, acting like her contribution to Meghan’s DNA is equivalent to “one drop.”

The history of black Americans is chock-full of biracial black people who had one white parent, from Fredrick Douglass to Barack Obama. I don’t care if Meghan identifies as a gecko. Unless their families recently immigrated from an African or Caribbean country, pretty much every black person in the US has mixed ancestry, either because they had some white ancestors or because they had some Native American ancestors. You think you’re being enlightened, but you’re actually invalidating the history of black Americans by claiming that many of its prominent figures aren’t black.

littlecoffeemug · 22/10/2026 19:56

Hapless Harry hasn't turned out to be The Gold Ticket to A Lister Hollywoodom that Meghan hoped. The American dream has died. Returning to the UK in the hope that they'll be welcomed back into the Royal fold, is the last throw of the dice for Meghan.

If Harry can't crowbar them back into the balcony appearances and gala dinners then he's of absolute no use to her whatsoever. Harry, without a dusting of royal glitter, is just a dim, petulant, balding man-baby.

They are both the problem and I wish they would go back to US or away somewhere else.

Couldn't agree more. There really isn't anything for them here if they want some royal stardust. They're not going to get it.

Are you seriously suggesting the people on here "tearing him and his wife apart" are going to be bothered to attack him or something? Why would he need security? If he kept his mouth shut no-one would know or care where he is.
He isn't heir to the throne and is of little importance.
I don't know who Kate is so can't comment on that.

I thought she’d never return to the UK, but she has, to keep him happy maybe?
@Onthemaintrunkline I live in the US, and my take is that things haven't gone particularly well for them here. Plenty of fanfare and welcomes when they first arrived, the Netflix deal, etc., but then I think the attention started drying up. Being royal isn't enough here, they needed to deliver content and prove that they could offer something-and I think that Harry in particular failed at that. Meghan tries, but for whatever reason, hasn't met with much business success.

If they'd wanted to lead quiet lives, that decline in attention would be perfect! But that didn't seem to be the case so returning to the UK was perhaps their preferred option. who knows.

I find it baffling tbh, if I had the opportunity to move somewhere and live a quiet, luxurious life on my inherited millions (and her earned money), I'd jump at it.😆

I should imagine most of their money is gone which is why they came back.

She felt entitled to a billionaire lifestyle in the US after marrying a Prince.

That's very expensive and the numbers never added up from what little 'work' they actually did. They are hardly Jeff Bezos building an empire material.

Self promotion gained from trashing a respected institution was not the money spinner they thought it would be.

Morals taught to him by mum and dad ? Doing the same ?

I think Kate would consider that she has an amazing life, far beyond what 'ordinary' women could ever aspire to.

She's one of the most famous women in the world, travels the world in total luxury, choses if she want to cook/clean or get staff to do it, meets world figures and celebrities, has the ability to get involved in projects/charity that can change other people's lives, never has to worry about money, has a beautiful home, designers want to dress her, she is always protected and has the highest class of medical care for herself and her family, and in addition she also has a beautiful family and is close to her extended family.

She's intelligent and seems like a genuine, decent person to me. Polar opposite of the other one.

Plenty of 'ordinary' women get married, have kids and are chained to the kitchen sink at the mercy of their husbands, even today.

Tbh, I’m already sick of the years of Meghan & Harry doing these fake royal walkabouts where they have pre-screened crowds giving them flowers & Meghan gurning when she’s a trashy briefcase girl.

Harry was a much loved popular royal before Me-again entered the scene. As Me-Gain had already fallen out with her family, she immediately set about her Narc rules of isolating dim Harry from his much loved family & hissing poison in his ears & slagging off the UK & all its heritage & history. Harry lapped it all up & believed the witches brew.

when William is king can’t come fast enough, then William will issue patent letters & get the titles and succession removed.

Incidentally, I think the non-bio Markle kids will also be insufferable. Expect lots of sexy magazine covers from Lilli, Fake diplomas from Archie and generally cringe boasting bragging by the Markle kids as they aggressively try to out-do their cousins.
