Antisemitism here in the UK is appalling.

I was once a 'Grren' no more due to the hatred Antisemitism in the party.

Jewish students work together at a table at school

Schools should recognise antisemitism as distinct form of harm, review says

The government is expected to accept all 27 recommendations made in the review by ex-Ofsted boss, Sir David Bell.

It’s much wider. My kids harassed on the bus as Jewish (can tell by uniform). Those harassing are not “terrorists” but students from other schools who support the “Palestine” cause.

Why the inverted commas around Palestine? The State of Palestine has been formally recognised by the UK government.

So you do think that the Israeli flag represents all Jewish people or no? If no then you probably shouldn't conflate the two.

The symbol in the centre of the Israeli flag is also the symbol that represents Judaism. If you see a person wearing a cross pendant, you don’t think they are racist pro-violence types - even though that is also the central emblem of the English flag. Yet that is the association assigned to Jews wearing a Star of David pendant.

Hmm I think "scam" relates to the naive idea that the "pro-Palestinian" rallies are nothing more than innocent support for Gazan civilians, and not a well-orchestrated propaganda tactic designed to control the dominant narrative. The timing of these rallies (e.g. the first one in London, organised on 7/10/23; see link... not to mention those that take place on its anniversary) - very obviously points to more sinister motives. Anyone who was on MN in the immediate aftermath will also remember that social media was clearly spammed and targeted with malicious disinformation, designed to distort public perceptions.

This DARVO campaign has been frighteningly successful, as we can now see.

Edited

I’ve just read the info in your link. That’s vomit-inducingly shocking. The application for the march was made while the massacre in Israel was happening! I knew it happened fast but didn’t realise the exact timing.

Hoppinggreen · 21/10/2026 12:11

No matter what your religion, nationality or politics only a truly awful human being could fail to be horrified that children in British schools need this level of security
I drive through a Jewish area regularly and the security on the school gates is shocking but sadly probably necessary

Yes. Also, you only have to look at photos of that first rally to see that this was not some spontaneous demo by ordinary folk painting their own makeshift placards.

Because they spent it all on underground tunnels and weaponry to destroy Israel, people tend to forget how much money Hamas have had at their disposal.

Your post is "indicative" of anti-semitism.

You also seem to think that anti-semitism is caused by Israel, despite anti-Semitism pre-dating Israel by a couple of millennia or so.

Antisemitism exists because people are racist. There is no excuse or justification for vilifying or hating an entire people/nation/ethnicity/religion. Politics, wars, individual actions should never be used as a justification for any kind of racism, ever.

Maomee · 21/10/2026 12:32

The greens are a joke and everyone knows it. A party for those with luxury beliefs because they are people who've never actually faced any issues in life and yet can somehow see the 'ibjustice' in absolutely everything

Beachtastic · 21/10/2026 10:28

I'm not sure this colour-coding is helpful. I've seen many MN posts suggesting that Israelis are just not "brown" enough to warrant any empathy.

My best friend is a black Jew. There are many black Jewish communities in Israel and the rest of the world. Indeed, about 60% of Jewish Israelis are brown skinned. Some would argue that Ashkenazi Jews are not white as they are ethnically Judean. It’s not about colour, it’s about scapegoating, deep-seated ignorance and the fact the Jews are a tiny tiny minority (I think something like 0.2% of the world’s population) with a disproportionate amount of success and contribution.

I live in a predominantly Jewish area and the fact that each school has to have security guards on it is just disgusting.

Me too and I have seen posters etc. put high up on trees so they can't be taken down easily.
There's literally a guy that wanders up and down the main shopping street waving flags.
Why?
Why there?

I was so so angry when I read that wee eejit students at Glasgow university were doing some sort of Palestine protest on the 7th October, deliberately on that date. Those wee fuckers. The worst part is they think they are untouchable and "on the right side of history" because of this nonsense with the Green party and all the useful idiots shouting "from the river to sea" without actually thinking about what it all means.

I'm horrified about all this, and even though I'm not Jewish I will not stand by and do nothing when this continues. It beggars belief. I've said this before, but even the "milder" stuff like what happened to Ed Sheeran is worrying - nobody is allowed to say anything deemed out of line. Hamas are an evil baby killing, torturing and murderous organisation and I feel ill when I hear stupid students chant for them. Like, what the fuck?!

This.

They are idiots and think they are right. They cannot see their own antisemitism. They often don't even know the history of the region and parot set phrases learnt at Uni or on the 'marches'. I believe/hope the vast majority realise that antisemitism is wrong and the Hamas shit and a conflict from thousands of miles away to virtue signal and shout abuse at innocent people here is wrong and avoid these 'marches' like the plaque or attempt to educate them.

Since the Manchester attack, I, on the other hand, am even more out and proud.

There are so few of us that many people go through life thinking that they have never met a Jewish person. We are something…else…a bit weird…different…unknown strangers. Many people think about things like the attacks, “Oh, well, it couldn’t happen here. There aren’t any Jews here. And anyway, we’re not like that. It couldn’t happen here.”

I want people to understand that Jewish people are no different to them. We are ordinary. We are your neighbours, your colleagues, your friends. We are nurses and doctors and firefighters and plumbers. Yes, it could happen here. Yes, hatred and violence could happen in your community.

Hatred and violence towards one group is entryism for hatred and violence towards others.

Do not be complacent just because you don’t think that there are any Jewish people in your community.

Thank you.

It's time the government spoke out more against these marches and the inaccuries in the history that they shout out. Anyone shouting Hamas or waving Hamas colours must be arrested. We shouldn't tolerate that crap here. The Palestine action ones that break into places, cause destruction and attack police officers should be scorned.

Many decent people keep away from the marches and having a march on October 7th was particulary sick.

There is no threat from Jewish members of society here and they need protection and support.

I don't really know how your post relates to mine? None of that means that the Israeli flag represents all Jews. The English flag doesn't represent everyone in the world who choose to wear a cross. Do you think that the Israeli flag represents all Jewish people, is that what you are trying to say or what is your point in relation to my posts?

‘You’ was meant to be generic, not ‘You, FacetiousFace’.

I’m saying that people do conflate the two, the Israel flag with Jewish people in general, precisely because of the symbol, whereas they don’t make that conflation with another religious symbol that appears on national flags.

GentleSheep · 21/10/2026 14:23

It's an awful thing and we need to speak up for Jewish people whenever possible and decry antisemitism.

quequerido · 21/10/2026 14:49

I saw some photos online from the primary school my kids went to. They had gone to a museum in London and on public transport. They were all wearing their own clothes. This never happened in the past. Clearly it was considered a security risk to allow them out in school uniform. What a sad state our country is in

And you know what they had gone to do. They had gone to learn about how people from the Caribbean came to England, their role in supporting London transport and what they have brought to Britain today.

Israel is the place that is central to the entire religious aspect of Judaism. Jews pray to Jerusalem, it’s mentioned in the Jewish bible constantly. Every single Jew regardless if they never pray, are atheist etc, has their traditions and culture deeply rooted in Israel. Also, there are many many countries and states in the world with many religions/faiths as a majority. Israel is the only Jewish majority one. So the Israeli flag represents Jews, whether they want it to or not. By the way, if you look up the flag, currency, newspapers etc from the time that Israel was called Mandated Palestine, it’s all with the Jewish star and with Hebrew writing, because all the people who lived there before 1948 had Palestinian identity.

So the Israeli flag represents all Jews everywhere and when we see the Israeli flag we should associate it with all Jews no matter where they live or their actual connections to Israel and whether they like it or not?

There was a thread on here a few months ago that got deleted at the OP's request - a white liberal woman living in London, and on the weekends she popped on her kafir and joined the pro palestine marches. She couldn't understand why her dear Jewish friend, of many years standing, was starting to avoid her. She really believed that the marches were not antisemitic, and Jews living in the UK had nothing to fear from the mass mobilisation of hamas supporters. She had her arse handed to her.

Well, thank goodness for that! Imagine being so completely unaware, out of touch, insensitive and foolish. Has she seen the placards, heard that chanting? Unbelievable

The Palestinian cause will go down as one of the biggest scams in history. It was set up to mask sinister ulterior motives, detrimental to the existence of the Jewish community. YANBU OP.

I couldn't agree more. I feel so sad for the Jewish community and ashamed of our country. Considering we were all supposed to never forget, a lot of people seem to have forgotten pretty bloody quickly.
