Jewish people have to take security very seriously in schools here.

Antisemitism here in the UK is appalling.

I was once a 'Grren' no more due to the hatred Antisemitism in the party.

Jewish students work together at a table at school

Schools should recognise antisemitism as distinct form of harm, review says

The government is expected to accept all 27 recommendations made in the review by ex-Ofsted boss, Sir David Bell.

Your post is "indicative" of anti-semitism.

You also seem to think that anti-semitism is caused by Israel, despite anti-Semitism pre-dating Israel by a couple of millennia or so.

I was so so angry when I read that wee eejit students at Glasgow university were doing some sort of Palestine protest on the 7th October, deliberately on that date. Those wee fuckers. The worst part is they think they are untouchable and "on the right side of history" because of this nonsense with the Green party and all the useful idiots shouting "from the river to sea" without actually thinking about what it all means.

I'm horrified about all this, and even though I'm not Jewish I will not stand by and do nothing when this continues. It beggars belief. I've said this before, but even the "milder" stuff like what happened to Ed Sheeran is worrying - nobody is allowed to say anything deemed out of line. Hamas are an evil baby killing, torturing and murderous organisation and I feel ill when I hear stupid students chant for them. Like, what the fuck?!

Our educational establishments should be scrutinised far more closely, as they are breeding grounds for far left, pro palestine, antisemitic ideologies, with academics being the worst culprits. I left my job in a university largely due to the left wing indoctrination, both overt and covert. Only one way of thinking was accepted. And there was me assuming university education was to teach young people how to think, not what to think. How naive I was.

I’ve joined a nationwide group in Australia dedicated to combatting antisemitism. I’m 48 years old and have never joined anything in my life- no political groups, no casual book clubs, nothing.

A commentator wrote recently that if you ever have wondered what you would have done during the rise of the Nazis, it’s whatever you are doing right now.

True, I think. But possibly also naive: it is difficult to fully comprehend the fear of consequences, whether social or violent. When consequences become sufficiently severe, people who do not choose to bully may not choose speak up against the bullies or act against the bullying because they fear the consequences. People need to follow their consciences and do whatever you are doing right now right now, before it becomes socially acceptable to be racist, before political parties establish racist policies. Otherwise it will become harder and harder to stand up against the bullies.

I grew up an atheist so I realise this is radical, but why do we even need religious schools?

NB I am mixed heritage and one parent was born a Muslim, but is a scientist so didn’t continue with religion.

My kids go to a Jewish school partly because that way they are off school for the Jewish holidays. We don't need Easter off, we need to be off for Pesach/Passover.

Genevieva · 21/10/2026 10:56

One of my nieces attends a Christian school that now has a significant Jewish population in part for this reason. They get a normal school experience and don’t get targeted on their way to and from school and they are treated well at the school. It’s a good school and it sounds like it is doing an excellent job of looking after its Jewish children, so they feel fully part of the school community.

So the Palestine cause, to you, is keeping Palestinians safe. Can you name the alternative cause for Jewish people - where hundreds of thousands are out in the streets waving the Israeli flag?

There are lots of Jewish people who wouldn't want anyone to wave the Israeli flag for them.

Do they outnumber the number of Jews feeling unsafe?

So? Doesn’t make them any less vulnerable to anti-Semitism.

I don't know. I don't see what that has to do with the Israeli flag not representing all Jews. Do you think that it does? Your post seemed to indicate that you feel that way.

The Israeli flag is waved to represent self determination. You just don't see it as prominently as you do the Palestinian flag. Do you know why?

It's the usual attempt to say many Jews join in the anti Israel rhetoric. It's as though that's meant to make antisemitism not so much of a big issue as the 'genocide'.

So you do think that the Israeli flag represents all Jewish people or no? If no then you probably shouldn't conflate the two.

It's not actually. It's an attempt to try and get people to see that Israeli is not the same as Jew. You can't and shouldn't use the two interchangeably.

Well they've got to have some symbolism of having the right to existence, because that basic human rights seems to be going ignored. Do you have a problem with the Israeli flag?

Unfortunately, people do that to target Jewish schoolchildren.

Why would I have a problem with a countries flag? I mean I think a lot of flag designs are pretty uninspired, lots of crosses and stripes, very boring really but I can't think of a country whose flag I have actual beef with 🤔

FacetiousFace · 21/10/2026 11:13

EmpressOfTheThread · 21/10/2026 11:07

I agree. That's why I think it should be called out when you see it. Not just when it's being used by someone who is antisemitic/used to abuse someone but even by someone who might be well meaning. Unfortunately it seems to be in common usage by lots of people and it shouldn't be.

“So would it be ok for Muslim children to be harrassed and attacked because of the evil crimes, violence and horror perpetrated by many Islamist regimes? Muslim children just going to school, innocent people just going to the mosque?.
No it would not.”

Agree, and yet the way you write this makes it sound as though Muslim children go about without harassment. I’m afraid harassment absolutely does go on. Or rather, harassing brown skinned children full stop, regardless of religion. You can’t just take a badge or a hat off. Your skin colour marks you out.

so rather than setting up such a comparison, let’s focus on what is going on. We need all people to feel safe. This is what I despise about religion. The way it sets up factions.

Many teachers know that there is a massive problem with Muslim kids bullying white kids in the schools that are Muslim majority, or close to. Which a huge proportion of grammar schools now are. The Muslims hound the few white children that still get grammar places, until they are forced to leave. It's happening all over the country.

I'm so sick of the narrative that brown skin makes you the default victim.

I’m a Christian and horrified not only by the events of 7th October but also by the reaction to it. Have been aware since visiting a synagogue for Open Doors Day about 25 years ago that security has been long been a concern for Jewish people and organisations, with it being of utmost importance now.

My non-Jewish parents had Jewish friends, 2 of the loveliest of all their friends. The husband had served Britain down the mines during World War 2, as a Bevan boy. Jews are as patriotic British as anyone in this country.

My grandfather, not a Jew, but having a Jewish sounding name, who served abroad during WW2 had to have his papers in another British sounding name in case he was taken prisoner by the Germans.

It is time to stand up against anti-Semitism.

Thank you. I donated to those ambulances after that shocking arson attack earlier in the year.
I'll certainly donate to this 🙏🏼

This is ridiculous.
Of course it's horrendous that Jewish people in this country are being targeted for something that is happening thousands of miles away that has nothing to do with them. But the same goes to other way, it's horrendous to say the Palestine cause is a scam when they are being blown to pieces with 22,000 children murdered by Israel. After 9/11, it was the for muslims in this country that were targeted for something they had nothing to do with.

Hmm I think "scam" relates to the naive idea that the "pro-Palestinian" rallies are nothing more than innocent support for Gazan civilians, and not a well-orchestrated propaganda tactic designed to control the dominant narrative. The timing of these rallies (e.g. the first one in London, organised on 7/10/23; see link... not to mention those that take place on its anniversary) - very obviously points to more sinister motives. Anyone who was on MN in the immediate aftermath will also remember that social media was clearly spammed and targeted with malicious disinformation, designed to distort public perceptions.

This DARVO campaign has been frighteningly successful, as we can now see.
