Jewish people have to take security very seriously in schools here.

Antisemitism here in the UK is appalling.

I was once a 'Grren' no more due to the hatred Antisemitism in the party.

Jewish students work together at a table at school

Schools should recognise antisemitism as distinct form of harm, review says

The government is expected to accept all 27 recommendations made in the review by ex-Ofsted boss, Sir David Bell.

I agree. Massively concerning. I have been deeply shocked by the levels of antisemitism I've seen. I genuinely thought until recently that this was something largely in the past. I was clearly very naive.

“So would it be ok for Muslim children to be harrassed and attacked because of the evil crimes, violence and horror perpetrated by many Islamist regimes? Muslim children just going to school, innocent people just going to the mosque?.
No it would not.”

Agree, and yet the way you write this makes it sound as though Muslim children go about without harassment. I’m afraid harassment absolutely does go on. Or rather, harassing brown skinned children full stop, regardless of religion. You can’t just take a badge or a hat off. Your skin colour marks you out.

so rather than setting up such a comparison, let’s focus on what is going on. We need all people to feel safe. This is what I despise about religion. The way it sets up factions.

Please do not twist my words. I never once said that Muslim children go without harrasment
How offensive.

Congratulations, you've fallen for the most successful PR campaign of modern times.
On one side we have a modern, diverse (nearly 20% of people living in Israel are muslim) liberal democracy. On the other a terrorist dictatorship (no elections since 2006, zero diversity amongst residents) whose stated aim is the ethnic cleansing of Jews from the region. Yet in upside-down clown town Israel are the genocidal regime? Wake up.

Sadly, it's not in the past. It's in the present. Now wearing a different cloak.

I’ve spent a significant part of my working life running early childhood and school readiness programmes for First Nations, Hmong and Sudanese children. You know nothing about me.

I am resigning from the Green Party in solidarity with the Jewish Community and will be telling them why. ZP is not really in control, he is the Useful Idiot for the far left of the party. He will spout whatever nonsense he is told to.

Dobi · 21/10/2026 10:25

@EmpressOfTheThread you drew a comparison. You asked if it would be ok. As if the situation were somehow different for Jewish schools. Rather than specifically looking at how different groups might be similar.

But they go and in many areas also perpetrate the bullyuing and violence as they know nothing will happen . It’s like a whole religion is hiper protected while the other people just close their eyes . And I’m saying this as someone not religious at all .
My friend is Jew and had to change her whole life and work do she can drop and pick up her teen children in fear of what can happen . One was spat on a few months ago on the way home .

I'm not sure this colour-coding is helpful. I've seen many MN posts suggesting that Israelis are just not "brown" enough to warrant any empathy.

Existing measures clearly aren’t working.

You may imply that your political position does not justify attacking British citizens and does not justify attacking children. It never has. Yet Jewish children, Jewish institutions, Jewish people in general have ALWAYS been targeted for harm. The excuse is all that has changed. No longer Christ-killers, now baby-killers.

There's no genocide taking place in any case. When it's ruled legally - not by scholars - that will be the turning point; that won't happen. It's being deliberately labelled a genocide to have connotations and resemblance to the holocaust. More mind games and manipulative tactics.

You twisted it up to make a vile judgement about me.
How offensive.
You know nothing about me. I am of mixed heritage. I am married to a migrant from an African country. We have now adult DC. I am more than aware of racism and I am more than aware of Islamophobia. I have been challenging bigotry, racism and prejudice for years. Decades
However this makes me more likely to support Jewish people, not less.
Take your nasty assumptions elsewhere.

Lyla82 · 21/10/2026 10:38

I am Jewish and went to a Jewish school in the UK. We would often have 'bomb scares' where all of the children had to evacuate the building and go to the field at the very back of the school for safety. As small children we never understood what this meant and just enjoyed the fact that we got to play in the field and not have lessons that day, but as an adult I now realise exactly what it meant and feel incredibly sad that people threatened to blow up small children in a primary school because they were Jewish.

It's a tale as old as time but antisemitism is getting so bad globally now and the 'pro-palestine' cause has been used as a tool to make it mainstream and somehow acceptable. People aren't scared to openly view their antisemitic views nowadays and the threat to Jewish people is very real.

People may think they have never met a Jew and have weird views about what Jewish people are like, but they dont realise that we are ordinary people living ordinary lives, working and contributing to society. They may not realise they have met a Jew because many Jewish people now keep quiet about their race/religion due to fear of judgement or attack.

@EmpressOfTheThread I never suggested it would be okay to pick any child out and harm them for their beliefs. Anger and the rage that smokes from the ashes of evil doesn't just waft away. Blanket anti-descrimination and decency is hard one, and requires the effort of every parent. The woke backlash I read as a fight against decency. Something the general populus can't be bothered with if the press and certain political movements are to be believed. We have large dehumanising movements in the UK and yet the Green's are targeted, a party that believes in social justice and and environmental welfare. It's farcical.

They certainly have an interesting take on "social justice"

This is standard protocol for dismissing any concerns about antisemitism. Didn't you know we're just imagining it, and others have it much worse?! 🤡

You have the right to your political opinions. As have I. I am very concerned about the Green Party, what they say, and what members post, and promote.
It doesn't seem like social justice to me.

The Green party has been targetted, just not in the way you think. I've no sympathy for a weak movement that has allowed itself to be used as a vehicle for antisemitism. It's actually giving it political legitimisation.

Bushmillsbabe · 21/10/2026 10:43

It is horrific, but many people feel its propaganda, and that Jewish people aren't living in fear. Those that don't, I suggest they take a walk around north London where there are many Jewish schools. I was shocked to see up to three security guards on the gates of various buildings, and then realised they were all Jewish schools. My daughter will likely be attending a Catholic secondary from 2027, there are no guards, no big external gates, anyone can walk right up to the reception door and when buzz, let straight in. I visited a child yesterday for work in a Muslim school, and last week in a Sikh school. No security guards, no high gates. Every other faith can have their children attend a faith school without fear that their child's school may come under attack. But not Jewish children, which is very wrong.

Quite. Because my son was targeted for Islamophobia and my daughter for her skin colour, it makes me more likely to fight antisemitism! However, when I posted something supporting Jewish people before, I got the same reaction, so I don't know why I'm surprised.
Yeah, I do challenge all prejudice, but I'm the one who's bigoted! 😂

MrsGuyOfGisbo · 21/10/2026 10:47

Just scandalous.
I am not Jewish, but I used to do supply teaching (about 10 years so) at a Jewish School in North London - absolutely delightful kids.
(And that’s something you can rarely say about inner city London schools)

Even then security was extremely high.
Can’t imagine what it is like now with the exponential explosion of anti-semitism 😡😡😡

The Palestinian cause will go down as one of the biggest scams in history. It was set up to mask sinister ulterior motives, detrimental to the existence of the Jewish community. YANBU OP.

This is ridiculous.
Of course it's horrendous that Jewish people in this country are being targeted for something that is happening thousands of miles away that has nothing to do with them. But the same goes to other way, it's horrendous to say the Palestine cause is a scam when they are being blown to pieces with 22,000 children murdered by Israel. After 9/11, it was the for muslims in this country that were targeted for something they had nothing to do with.

So the Palestine cause, to you, is keeping Palestinians safe. Can you name the alternative cause for Jewish people - where hundreds of thousands are out in the streets waving the Israeli flag?
