Antisemitism here in the UK is appalling.

I was once a 'Grren' no more due to the hatred Antisemitism in the party.

Jewish students work together at a table at school

Schools should recognise antisemitism as distinct form of harm, review says

The government is expected to accept all 27 recommendations made in the review by ex-Ofsted boss, Sir David Bell.

@nomas

Lucky said ‘Palestinian cause will go down as one of the biggest scams in history.‘
I asked ‘Why do these threads always turn into hate for Palestinians?’

There was no hate for Palestinian people in what Lucky said. There was contempt for the Palestinian cause which is quite different. The Palestinian cause seems mainly perpetuated by Hamas, their supporters and those who benefit in some way from a never-ending war in Gaza.

Again.

Lucky said ‘Palestinian cause will go down as one of the biggest scams in history.‘

I asked ‘Why do these threads always turn into hate for Palestinians?’

Lucky responded: ‘I stand by every word’

So not sure why you’re changing what was said.

If I had meant the scam was Palestinians being killed I would have expected my post to be deleted. As I didn't mean that and most others can see what it referred to, my post still stands. I'm sure with enough pushing it might be deleted.

WhereAreTheTrueGreens · 23/10/2026 15:32

It isn't.

It's the fault of antisemitic people in the West furthering the cause of Hamas. Pawns being used to spread hatred. Its working too. The pawns in the west mean Jewish children have to have massive school security, hide their uniforms and identify. That helps NO ONE but Hamas and other radicalised people. It doesn't help peace.

I agree, if anyone is disingenuously using the Palestinian cause to make anti-Semitic rhetoric then that is reprehensible.

LuckyHazelFox · 23/10/2026 15:43

I believe the sort of turning point and start of the fightback was the protest being allowed to go ahead on the third anniversary of 7th October. I saw lots of footage across social media of that fightback. To use such an infamous anniversary to scale ahead with protestations is unbelievably evil.

Saying the Palestinian cause is a scam is the same as hate.

If someone said the Israeli cause is a scam, what would you say?

And that you have contempt for Palestinians is terrible. I don’t trust anyone who can’t have empathy for them.

I know a little boy who is terrified of starting big school next year because he is jewish and the area of London his parents live is predominantly muslim.

We decided in the UK that some religions are better than others....

Poor little boy. No one in the UK should feel like that.

As a reminder of what we should be discussing on this thread, the Education Secretary said “change will come.”

Lucy Powell told the Commons on Wednesday that all children and teachers should be able to go to school or college “free from fear”, as she said tackling antisemitism is a “generational challenge”.

Addressing MPs on Wednesday, the Education Secretary warned that antisemitism is “normalised and amplified” on social media and “old tropes” have found a “new life” online.

I think a start would be to challenge the stance of the NEU.

Why do these threads always turn into hate for Palestinians?

Why not just focus on what the thread is about, Jewish school security?

People bringing in their own agendas is just bizarre.

Since when do you care about sticking to a thread topic? Given your tendancy to try and derail any thread about antisemitism.

No it isn't, it's an opinion that you don't agree with.

People say things I don't agree with re the Israeli cause and a good place to discuss that is on one of the threads about the Green policy Zionism is Racism.

That will be a massive challenge. Education is shaped by the left.

I disagree that it’s derailing to challenge hatred for Palestinians.

The derailment was calling the Palestinian cause a scam. It wasn’t necessary to do that to stay on topic.

Lucy Powell must have been browsing Mumsnet CITME board just before she made her statement about "old tropes" finding a "new life" online.

Thanks for the support y’all.

And just to be clear - I have nothing against any Palestinian. I’d guess most mothers there are just desperately trying to keep their kids alive and I can’t even imagine what they’re going through. They’ve been manipulated and lied to and used as human shields and ignored and used as pawns and held up as some never ending sad story to bind the rest of the Middle Eastern terror organisations / countries together to a pretend to be trying to rescue them without actually helping them or welcoming them. Must be horrifying and confusing and overwhelming every single day.

Almost none of that is the fault of most Israelis or Jews though. The Israelis offered them a country of their own several times, they treated them in their own hospitals, they desperately tried to avoid civilian casualties on a battleground made up of human shields. Is Israel perfect? Of course not. Have there been huge mistakes by the IDF? For sure. Is Netanyahu maybe an evil robot without real human emotion? Probably. But none of that has anything to do with the millions of Israelis and Jews just looking to live a normal life. And literally nothing at all to do with my kids who have never stepped foot in Israel and have lived their whole lives in Scotland. And yet here, in Scotland, they are answering for both real and imaginary crimes by some army or government thousands of miles away.

The scam I’m talking about when I say it is that everyone is talking about Israel v Palestine when that’s not the fight. It’s Israel v Hamas and ISIS and the Taliban and Iran and Lebanon.

(I do find it confusing though that Palestinians elected Hamas yet we don’t speak about the Hamas army as a Palestinian army but we do talk about Netanyahu as Israel. If Hamas was democratically elected (albeit decades ago) then they represent Palestine really? But not really relevant for the actual starving people living in tents.)
