Antisemitism here in the UK is appalling.

I was once a 'Grren' no more due to the hatred Antisemitism in the party.

Jewish students work together at a table at school

Schools should recognise antisemitism as distinct form of harm, review says

The government is expected to accept all 27 recommendations made in the review by ex-Ofsted boss, Sir David Bell.

The scam is the propaganda.

How does that make the Palestinian cause a scam? That they have a voice?

Netanyahu spends millions on propaganda on YouTube and Instagram. That also has nothing to do with Jewish schools in the UK.

There's two types: the out and out antisemitic prick and the faux naive ones. We both have seen it so many times.

yes we have and they are both so transparent.

I do believe there is a third type though, the genuinely naïve.

There has always been security on Jewish schools and synagogues it’s just so much worse now. 40 years ago King David in Liverpool regularly had bomb threats and had security permanently at the school. Antisemitism has always been under the surface with most people finding it repugnant. No with all the support for Gaza it’s allowed to show itself and garner more support. It’s horrific.

Yes, I think it's just emboldened and enabled it, made it mainstream.

The opinion expressed that the Palestinian cause will in time become seen as a scam is one you don't agree with, fine.

But it's not the same thing as saying How is that the fault of Palestinians? in response to the question, why do Jewish children get those chants about Palestine shouted in their faces?

No one said that Palestinians are responsible for Jewish children in the UK getting chants about Palestine being shouted in their faces.

The people doing the shouting are UK antisemites, to be clear.

The opinion expressed that the Palestinian cause will in time become seen as a scam is one you don't agree with, fine.

Why are you changing what was said? They said ‘Palestinian cause will go down as one of the biggest scams in history.’

No one said that Palestinians are responsible for Jewish children in the UK getting chants about Palestine being shouted in their faces.

If Palestinians aren’t responsible, why are they being called scam on this thread?

The scam is the people making money out of the Palestinian cause (is what I took from the post by @LuckyHazelFox ) and the people with an anti Jewish agenda becoming emboldened to encourage antisemitism to flourish in the UK and other places.

Ordinary Palestinians are not benefitting from any of this. Quite the reverse if you look at the terrible conditions most are now living in.

But that’s not what was said.

Is someone said the Israeli cause is a scam, what would you think of them?

Dilbertian · 23/10/2026 15:02

nomas · 23/10/2026 14:41

I support the right for Jewish children to go to school safely and without threat.

But that doesn’t require writing off Palestinians and their cause as a scam.

The scam is Hamas (and Hezbollah, and pretty much every Iran-sponsored group).

The only group that ever tried to improve Palestinian lives, the only group that ever achieved anything positive for Palestinans, was the PLO. Hamas’s objectives, their driving motivations from the day of their creation, have only ever been the destruction of Israel and the murder of Jews.

Hamas had every opportunity to improve the lives of the Gazans. When Israel withdrew from Gaza Hamas were left with a functioning economy, functioning healthcare, a university that attracted students from the whole Arab world. The UN provided more aid per capita to Gaza than to pretty much anywhere else in the world. Hamas had every opportunity to build for the Palestinians. But instead they choose to use pipes supplied to build a water desalination plant to build missiles. They deliberately triggered all-out war with Israel on 7 October 2023. They knew exactly what urban warfare would bring to them. Did they use their miles of subterranean tunnels to shelter Palestinians?

What have Hamas done to improve the lives of Palestinians? Hamas’s objective is the destruction of Israel. They do not care who else suffers in consequence. Their own people, the Palestinians, are useful collateral damage for them.

The scam is not that Palestinians are suffering. The scam is that Hamas are in any way helping them. The scam is that supporting Hamas will ever lead to a peaceful, mutually respectful end to this conflict.

Qatar giving enormous wealth and power to Palestinians? Don’t make me laugh.

That wasn't what I said, and you know it.

Qatar is one of the key funders of Hamas, who have brought ruin upon Palestinians, both their own supporters and those who dislike them.

But I'm sure you know all that. And if you don't, you should.

Dilbertian · 23/10/2026 15:06

People don’t differentiate between Hamas and the Palestinians. Just as they don’t differentiate between the Israel flag and a Star of David pendant. Then they scream their ignorant outrage at British children. Yup, that’s another scam: believing that somehow this makes you a good ‘un, on the side of the vulnerable and defenceless.

Twiglets1 · 23/10/2026 15:09

@nomas Let's simplify this.

They said the Palestinian cause is a scam.

They did not say it is the fault of Palestinians that Jewish children get those chants about Palestine shouted in their faces.

No one has blamed ordinary Palestinians for anything on this thread.

This is my last post to you on this matter because it just seems like you want to divert the thread from talking about what Jewish children & their parents are suffering as a result of people in the UK bringing their antisemitism into schools.

EdithStourton · 23/10/2026 15:10

nomas · 23/10/2026 14:40

How is that the fault of Palestinians?

They (or at least some of them) and their supporters fan the flames of antisemitism.

And people call the Israeli cause a scam all the time. 'Zionism is racism', remember?

All the other victims of the great displacements in the wake of WWII have settled down and got on with their lives: the Jews from MENA, the Muslims who fled India, the Hindus who fled Pakistan, the Sudeten Germans... the list goes on.

One has to ask why the Palestinians remain as long-term refugees, when they have been offered a state several times over. And oddly, only the Jewish state gets blamed for the failure of that project by those who march through London - not the Palestinians, not the Jordanians, not the Egyptians.

I can't imagine why.

And this has all reminded me why I avoid CITME.

Edited to qualify a rather too sweeping statement.

I know a little boy who is terrified of starting big school next year because he is jewish and the area of London his parents live is predominantly muslim.

We decided in the UK that some religions are better than others....

And this is where that little boy and his parents might feel it's better to hide the fact they are Jewish. Which would be understandable but also so wrong that they are made to feel this way and so against British values of mutual respect and tolerance.

If you don't like my wording, I can't help that. The Iraelis have had to put up with a lot more than scam being attributed to their plight. I'm not going to explain the rationale behind my comment - to closed minds.

Yes that's a good point about British values. We aren't seeing much reinforcement of those in British schools and universities.

All right thinking should condemn any hatred towards Jewish people and in respect of this thread Jewish children in the UK.

The recent Green conference where they passed the ZIR motion was terrifying. They were selling the conspiracy book 'The Invention of the Jewish People' and Mothin Ali aggressively singled out a Jewish journalist.

Racism and bigotry need to be addressed no matter who is being targeted or who is doing the targeting.

My local Jewish school has constant security. They stopped after school activities, children have to hide their uniforms, and they have had to hire a private bus service to take children to and from school. Even so, the children were attacked when adults broke into the bus and screamed at them.

At my DC's school, a parent came in on 7 Oct wearing a shirt displaying Israel wiped off the map.

People feel uncomfortable addressing this because it's not being perpetrated by the 'far right'. But they need to, otherwise the UK will end up like Iran.

"At my DC's school, a parent came in on 7 Oct wearing a shirt displaying Israel wiped off the map."

Brazen anti semitism in full view. The marches have emboldened them to show their hate and ignorance in plain sight. The masses need to say no to the hatred.

No, I don’t. I actually suggested the thread should stay on topic of Jewish school security and not be derailed.

Funny how the poster calling the Palestinian cause a scam wasn’t a diversion for you.

If you RTFT, you'd understand that the "Palestinian cause" here does NOT refer to the actual plight of Palestinians. It refers to the banner-waving demos and celebrations held in the streets of the UK on 14/10/23 (organised on 7/10/23) and jubilantly repeated every anniversary of 7/10. It refers to gangs that increasingly bully and intimidate the peaceful Jewish people of this country. Please read @PurpleThistle7's posts, and many others, to get a better grasp of what we are discussing here and what has actually been said.

They never will (in my opinion).

They don't ever seem to monitor even the most controversial threads.

Only ever react when posts are actually reported and at that point, arguably they have to take a position on it.

How is that the fault of Palestinians?

It isn't.

It's the fault of antisemitic people in the West furthering the cause of Hamas. Pawns being used to spread hatred. Its working too. The pawns in the west mean Jewish children have to have massive school security, hide their uniforms and identify. That helps NO ONE but Hamas and other radicalised people. It doesn't help peace.

This thread maoes me so happy as a Jewish person. I saw a thread on X about gas chamber jokes earlier.

I believe most people aren't full of hate. Sadly some are but perhaps (I hope) some just need education against the soundbites and lack of facts shared online and sadly in society.

Jewish people should feel as safe as everyone else here in the UK. 💐
