Neighbours complained about Autistic Son

Just found out that my next door neighbours have complained about my autistic DS. The complaint was related to him shouting in the garden(he’s non verbal and he vocally stims) and how he sometimes has no clothes on in the garden and their grandchildren can see him.

They put in a complaint to my HA and I wish they had spoken to me first. I do understand how loud he can be and I try hard to keep him dressed. The fences are high but they can see into my garden from their bedroom windows.

He’s not out there from morning til night, only in the school holidays and after school for a bit. I also work and he stays with his Dad for part of the week.

I feel so on edge now and feel like I can’t have him in the garden in case they complain again, I’m also a single parent and it makes me feel vulnerable that they have an issue with us.

They are an older couple with an immaculate garden/house. I do understand how they like to enjoy peace and quiet in their garden and obviously they deserve to not be disturbed.

I’m ashamed to say I cried when I was told of the complaint, I’m embarrassed now 🙈

10 is a preteen and far too old to be nude in public.

Every child under 13 is a preteen by this logic and a back garden has never been public. A male neighbour complaining over a female neighbour topless sunbathing in her own back garden would rightfully be met with cries of mind your own business, you fucking pervert.

op don’t cry over your neighbours champagne tastes and lemonade budget. If they could live in a detached house they would but like everyone else they have to put up with close neighbours. You could be metal heads or weed growers or loud horrible bastards but no you are a good loving mum and they are moaning about a child with additional needs who they actually have to go out of their way to see in his own garden. Sod. Them.

He's only ten.
I would visit neighbours and explain and apologise. Also listen. Both understanding each other is best.

Grow some vines, bamboo, etc to add extra insulation; keep DS out of garen before 8 am and after 7 pm.

Try DS wearing specal garden ponchos made from fabric he likes.
You are doing your best.

It is right that you and your DS have access to you own garden.

Filming him without clothes would be illegal.

Sadly that doesn't mean people won't do it. Op would never even know. There is a saying the devil never sleeps.
